Yes Eileen, we cash out via the Casino. Set up Casino account, transfer from on board acc, play a little bit, then cash out. So far have had no problems.

 

Also any 2015 cruises are still offering the .90 when you buy OBC, but they have dropped it to .80 for 2016 cruises. Found this out when I went to buy some OBC for our 2016 cruises.

It really is not that hard. Why do you need a 5am shuttle? Why not take an 8am shuttle? That way you can take Princess' bus from their lodge to the WAC at 7am or so. Before the 7am Princess bus you either ask the Denali Princess to pack you a box lunch or buy something at Subway or the grocery store. Easy as pie.

No we probably don't need the 5 am shuttle (just had that time stuck in my head -re the tour pick up time) .We'll work something out i guess, plenty of time !!:)

The ONLY site you should be looking at for shuttles/tours is the official site http://www.reservedenali.com Nope- I never recommend using any booking agents. From your post- are you on a cruisetour, or did you just reserve the Denali Princess on your own or what? If independent, I never recommend the TWT, triple the cost and not my min. "required" distance for my preferences. Again- with anyone making changes or adding shuttles/tour buses be certain you also have your pick up arrangements figured out.

 

I will comment again, there is no need to jump into these reservations, especially with some of these above questions, it sounds like there could be a lot more found out first.

 

Finally- cruisetour people- IF you go with independent booking- YOU will be picking up your own bus tickets- when you do, have your cruisetour paperwork

with you, and you will be refunded your park fee. This fee is an automatic charge with any bus tickets.

Yes we are on a cruise tour with Princess and wanted to go further in the park than the Natural History tour which is included in our package .

The site you mentioned is the site I was looking at ,$130 pp compared with princesses price $179 pp. they pick you from the lodge , so no issue there.

I wouldn't mind the Eielson shuttle but then have to figure out getting to the pick up point and supplying our own lunch , which we may not have time to do as the pick up is at 5.00 am !

We will be in Denali August 2015 , staying at the Princess lodge. We would like to do the Tundra Wilderness Tour , now when Princess advised us we could book our tours this tour wasn't on the list.! Now it has appeared but it's sold out!

I have found vacancies booking through other Alaska websites one is about $40 cheaper for the same tour , does anyone have any thoughts about booking with someone else?

We usually like to do independent tours so this may be ok for us.

I have been reading furiously and have finally caught up to the latest episode ,came across this after I read your Alaska reviews, we are off to US, Canada & Alaska next year.

Brings back memories for me as we did a med cruise on the Ruby Princess back in 2011 ,flew to Paris first for 5 days, then 3 in Barcelona, finishing in Venice for 3 days. Loved, loved Venice !!

Our day in Rome was also with Rome in Limo , we did private tours with strangers(now friends) that we met on CC. Had a great time in all ports and saw so much ,it was lovely to explore with only 4 or 6 people on our tours.

Italy is amazing and I would love to go back to explore at a leisurely pace .

But for now I will travel with you & Carol.

We will be in a Denali 23 August next year , I was going to swap the Natural History tour for the Tundra Wilderness tour but the Tundra tour is not listed .There is a tour called wildlife Wilderness tour which goes 30 miles into the park . Is this far enough in ? iOr should I look at doing something else? Any advice welcome.

T think there was a problem with Princess's excursion site yesterday , it seems to be ok now ,I have just reserved a tour for next August,wouldn't let me do it yesterday even though I had an email saying you could.

Thank you Budget Queen, yes I am sure all of our trip will have amazing photo ops. This tour has a photographer on board to help with those camera settings I'm still trying to master !!! Can't wait !

Trying to find private excursions to do instead of the Princess tours. Would love to do a photo tour in Juneau , Princess has one with three starting times visiting Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching .Which time of day would be better?

Any other recommendations for photography tours would be appreciated.

We are heading to USA, Canada & Alaska August 2015 so your insight has been really helpful,confirming some of the tours I have researched are well worth it.Although we will be on a different ship some of the info on the Ports will be really helpful .

I enjoy doing photo books of our trips and am sure your photos would look stunning in a book. Funnily enough we were in Africa last year too!
