  1. Introducing the Independent Traveler Program!

Guests 21 years and up (as of November 7, 2015) can now book a double occupancy interior, ocean view or balcony stateroom and pay only one cabin fare and one set of taxes and fees. We will contact you 60 – 90 days prior to sailing or once the event approaches a sell out to verify that you have not found your own match and still wish to be matched with another ITP guest.

thats what is on the website :)

  2. Good Morning,

I am curious about the Independant Traveler Program. I am looking at the FGL Cruise in November with some friends however, i would be sailing by myself (I know about the SOLO traveler forum). My question specifically is has anyone tried the ITP? and what your experience was. I would love to have a balcony - but I dont want to pay 200% surcharge. I have been only ever on Carnival and Princess (next sail date 24 days!!! woot)

Any advise you folks can provide would be appreciated :)

  3. Lido inside cabins are probably the best as for getting outside quickly. The insides on the forward Emerald deck can also get you outside to the Whale's Mouth in less than a minute.

You are still young and beautiful so throwing on some sweats and being outside in less than 1 minute is a no-brainer. Unfortunately, I require a lot more work before I can be presentable to the public. Yes, you made the right decision. Enjoy your cruise.

Awe you are sweet! Thank you.

Thank you everyone else! I'm sure looking forward to it!!! Still having trouble with my packing list but I'm getting there!!! Few weeks to go!!!

  4. I feel that loosing my lido cabin location isn't worth a window. I think I am gonna pass. I can easily be out on deck for sunrise and pulling into port in 5 min after waking up. I have no problem going out of the cabin in sweats for an hour to have a looksee and then go back and get ready for the day. I don't much care for eating in the morning and will be bringing protein powders and shakes with me for this purpose!!!

I'm really excited and have quite a busy itenary planned. But I'll keep my little dark box on the lido deck and save the $$$$ to pay half of my drinks package.

If it was a balcony I'd be all over that like white on rice!!!!!

  5. I just got an upgrade offer for 99$ pp from an inside forward to an unobstructed OV. IM sailing solo so will need to pay 200%.

What's your thoughts. Is it worth it? I've only ever had balconys suites and insides.

  6. I recently booked a cruise i am canadian but my FCC were ij US and the only way to utilize them was to be quoted in US and pay in US or wait several days for my FCC to be converted to CDN

but the costs were close i suppose

    HA NOT

i paid $1077 CDN for the cruise quoted $883 USD

and 754 CDN for the flight and quoted $583

BUT - theres always a butt!! I knew going into it that i would be eating costs but i am happy to be sailing princess again after a year and a half of sailing carnival

  7. so then my question would be would they give me two glasses of wine to consume in my cabin ?

sometimes i take my time getting ready for dinner - and i mean take my time lol upwards 2 hours - now thats not all spent primping (more or less day dreaming and doddling!) lol

  8. I understand that they will not serve you more than one drink at a time however, my question is if i were to wish to enjoy drinks in my cabin would they deliver say 2-3 beers or so while im getting ready or just hanging out in my cabin? or is that a no and i would have to go back to the bar to grab another drink?

  9. Thank you all for your time to respond. There are a few suggestions that I think I will indulge in :). We have very long port times which is wonderful but traveling solo I'd rather fill my days!!! If I had a friend with me I would spend more time exploring the ports and visiting jn local pubs with the locals :).

I love the go go go mentality of somewhere new. I love to run around. And see all the things I want to see!!! I can rest when I'm back on board!! There are 3 sea days on this trip (2 of which are scenic cruising) and the last day aboard is a sea day. I have no problem with sleeping till dinner time to recover from the whirlwind of the previous three days!!!

Thanks again everyone for your input. I really appreciate you folks taking the time out of your day to offer input and advise!!!

  10. Ok folks! Cruising solo to Alaska. Grand southbound may 16. I have chosen to do 2 excursions per day to really see as much as I possibly can as it will probably be a long time before I return up north.

Skagway photography tour & train trip

Juneau dog sledding on the mendenhall glacier & gold panning and Alaskan salmon bake

Ketchikan wilderness exploration cruise and crab feast & misty fjords by sea plane

Now with an itenary like this it leaves very little time for port exploration. Which is ok with me as I'm not a huge shopper.

But am I going to miss out by not exploring the port. I chose these excursions based on times and experience and they Are all things I have never done before.

What are your seasoned thoughts fellow Alaskan cruisers????
