  1. We were on the Horizon last year. There was a very loud whistling sound coming from our balcony door while we were at sea. It was so loud it was hard to sleep. We also had a loud banging sound near our hall door that happened while we were at sea and this kept us up, too. We called Guest Services while we were moving around 10PM so they could hear the noises for themselves.

A maintenance worker come to our cabin immediately. Tightened a bolt near the hall door and another near our balcony door. Both noises stopped and we were able to sleep that night. If you hear noises like this, be sure to tell your room steward or call Guest Services. The few times we have called with a similar problem, the response has been quick. No one wants to be kept awake every night on vacation. We have been on the Sunshine several times and truly love the ship-these have been some of our favorite cruises! Go and have a memorable cruise!

  2. Let me clarify my question to Lddella: you said that the day pass for Sandals Royal Bahamian includes  everything "as well as the ride over to the private island." This is what I'm wondering about: where do you pick up the included transportation, when can you return to your ship, etc. Thanks very much for this info!

  3. We stayed in a Deck 8 balcony cabin once. We were new to cruising and really didn't think about what was above our cabin. Big mistake!! We were under the pizza counter. We heard chairs sliding back and forth most of the night, and we got very little sleep. Now we prefer to book so that there are cabins above and below us. If you are going to stay below the Lido deck, check the deck plans to see what exactly is above your cabin before booking!!

  4. BoDidly-when you say "about the same procedure": do we have to look for a different area marked "Priority"-away from the main check in area? Does the Priority check in have it's own drop off area? This is the case in Miami-Priority is around the side of the building where passengers check in. We were dropped off in front and had a bit of a distance to get to the Priority check-in. We want to avoid a long trek with our bags. We are familiar with what platinum offers, just need to know how priority check-in is set up in Port Canaveral. Does everyone arrive in the same place and we just join the priority line? Thanks for clarifying.

  5. We need some help from our fellow Carnival cruisers-what can you tell us about the check in process in Port Canaveral? We have Priority check in. In Miami there is a separate check-in door for Priority, in Manhattan everyone enters the same area and from there you are directed to the Priority check-in lines. We are going to be dropped off and hope to avoid a long walk with our bags if we wind up in the wrong area. Thanks for the info!

  7. We didn't realize we had booked connecting cabins until we were a few days before sailing. We weren't worried about this, but found out the hard way that this was a major mistake. I hate to worry you, but we could hear EVERYTHING that went on with our neighbors, and I mean EVERYTHING. We couldn't look directly at our neighbors if we ran into them in the hallway-we were too embarrassed. We also listened to their TV every night until 2 or 3 am. The idea of putting pillows between the doors might make a difference, you should also pack ear plugs. We will NEVER again book connecting cabins again.

  8. We have had several price matches done-Carnival not only matched our price, but also gave us 10% additional credit. You will have to see if this is still offered. Carnival asked for the vendor name, tour details, etc. We heard back within a day or so. Be sure the excursions really match, including length of time the excursion lasts. Very easy process. Good luck.

  9. We had an adjoining balcony cabin last year and NEVER AGAIN!!! We heard everything from the cabin next door. They had their TV on late every night, and of course we had to listen to it, too. The worst was that our neighbors got "frisky" at all hours-daytime, nighttime, you name it. Sometimes several times at night. When we ran into them in the hallway, it was difficult to look them in the eye. We are glad they had a great cruise-at least, that's what it sounded like. We decided on that cruise that if an adjoining cabin was the only cabin left to book, we would choose another cruise.

  10. We cruised on the Miracle when it was sailing from New York City for an 8 day cruise in May that year. Out of 8 days, it rained for 6. After the first few days, we just had to laugh at the bad weather. We still had a great time! So many fun things to do! Be sure to put a few extra books on your Kindle. We also came home, promptly booked another 8 day cruise on the Miracle for August that same year, and had 8 absolutely beautiful sunny days. You may have heard the phrase: the worst day on a cruise is still way better than the best day at work. This is how we feel!

  11. The Horizon is a beautiful ship with so many fun things to do. The food was great-the cakes served on Lido at lunch will blow you away. We basically loved every minute of our cruise. We sailed in June, have sailed 21 Carnival cruises, and this cruise ranked as one of our 3 top favorite cruises. You are sailing on September 30-please please please stop reading Horizon reviews and comments because these are all taking away the fun of your cruise countdown! You will have a wonderful time!

  12. The biggest thrill anyone can have during sailaway on the Horizon is being on Deck 15 when the ship sails under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. It takes just about an hour to reach the bridge once the ship starts to back out of its berth. We headed up to Deck 15 about 45 minutes after setting sail. It was amazing to be on such a tall ship-we felt we were closer to the underside of the bridge than usual. There was quite a crowd sharing the experience-everyone starting shouting and clapping as we passed under the bridge. We have sailed from NYC many times, and this was our most fun ever. If you have your parents head up to Serenity as the ship sets sail, they can sit on the right side of the ship so they can see the Statue of Liberty, and stay there until the ship passes under the bridge. Your 4 year old won't be able to be in Serenity, but at least your parents can enjoy. You will love the Horizon!

  13. When we are lucky enough to be on a cruise, there is no way we want to waste a single minute sweating the small stuff. I must tell you, however, that I am one of those that take the elevator 1 floor. I have really crummy knees, and walking stairs is a killer for me. I do feel judged when I push the button for 1 floor, but I really don't have a choice. Hope my fellow cruisers will keep this in mind when you see people do this.
