1. I had the same issue when MTD opened up for our sailing. Available times went from one extreme to the other. Clarea (Bob) suggested I email RCCL dining (rcldining@rccl.com). I did and included how I wanted our two tables set up (there's 13 of us all linked so who is sitting at what table). Less than 24 hrs later we all had our reservations for 6:30 each night.

  2. Thank you, it does work for me……….but I hope it gets fixed……...

It worked for me too but do I have to use this process every time I want to access my reservation? I have a lot of #'s stored in my head but not our reservation # which means I have to look it up in my trip folder each time.

It would be nice if RCCL would send out something explaining the status and how to get to your reservation for us technically challenged folks.

  3. I haven't been able to access our reservation since Friday. As long as I know there are others having the same issues I can wait till the kinks are worked out.

I tried again just a bit ago and when I clicked on "view reservation", this is what popped up at the top:

"Invalid Brand Name. Please retry your request later or call our customer service desk."

  4. You can go over the limit and just pay a duty. We bought 4 liters on our Jewel cruise last week plus got a free 375ml of Sheridans for buying two. My DH reported to customs as we were told to and declared exactly what we had. They signed off on the form and we paid no duty, we were fully willing to if asked.

We've been honest on every cruise. We bring home at least 10 liters (we drive to the port) each cruise and have yet to pay any duty, even though we report it in person and expect to pay. I get the feeling customs (or whoever it is) thinks it's more bother than it's worth (it's only $1.80 + per bottle duty).

  5.
Hyatt Place North definitely provides free parking for the week? I found Hyatt Place South on the www.parksleepfly.com site, but they didn't list North.
We just stayed at the Hyatt Place North 7/6-8. I asked about parking at the hotel and was told that we could @ $12/night. For the cost, it wasn't convenient for us. We parked at the port for $15 which enabled us to get off the ship, get in the truck and head home w/o having to wait for shuttles, etc. The $3 per day savings just didn't do it for us (it was a 4 day cruise).

  6. We (4 gals, 40-50) will be spending 2 days pre cruise in Fort Lauderdale, July 6-7. We're staying at the Hyatt Place Airport North. If the weather is perfect (anything less than a tropical storm will be perfect), what would you suggest we do for day time entertainment? We're more beach goers than shoppers and we have a vehicle.

Would you suggest a trip to South Beach for the atmostphere (and to say we've been there) or just stay around FLL? I was thinking the water taxi would be fun. Or if we were to spend a couple hours on the beach, where would you send 4 women from Michigan who are on an all-girls adventure (joining 10 other gals late on the 7th) to celebrate a retirement?

    Thanks!

  8. Hops actually closed about 4 years ago! The others are still open. Duffy's just opened in the Harbor Shops. It is a large sports bar, kitchen open late, full bar, inexpensive good food. They mostly have booths but have 2 areas where they can set up a large table, so call and see if you can reserve a large table in advance. It's no more than a 2 block walk. Have a great time!

Duffy's is EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!! Thank you so much. I'll give them a call a couple of weeks before we go to see if they can accommodate us. The menu looks awesome (so does Happy Hour)!

    Thanks again!

  9. I could read through all 503 posts, but......

On July 7 (Wednesday), myself and 13 gals will be staying at the Hyatt Place Airport North for one night pre-cruise (Grandeur of the Seas). I would like to make arrangements for the 14 of us to have dinner and drinks together that night, near the hotel if possible. Nothing terribly expensive, lots of variety, w/cocktails. Walking distance is a bonus.

I've looked at the restaurants listed on the hotel's website, (Moe's, Kelly's Landing, Outback, Hops, etc). Hops is about the only place that would fit the bill except it appears they only have beer/wine.

Is there another similar type restaurant that serves cocktails where 14 women embarking on an all girls cruise can start their adventure?

    Thanks!!!

  10. Does anyone know if the pool bars have bucket of beers specials, how much they cost and how many beers you get.

I just came across the receipt for our bucket of Coors Lite. There were 6 beers and it was $23 something + 15% grat. My receipt was for $27 something and I remember giving a buck or two as an extra tip. Beer has gone up quite a bit since our last 7 day cruise in 05. Of course that didn't stop us!

  11. Hi everyone! Just a quick post from the Liberty of the Seas on Wednesday night, eastern sailing, 12:30 a.m.

    OMG!!!:D:D:D

I have so much to tell but at $.55/minute, it's going to have to wait until we get home to Michigan on Sunday.

Weather has been absolutely fab. Tomorrow at Labadee, partly cloudy and 90!!! Yes, I said 90!!!

    Gotta go!

  12. Nice review Christie! I appreciate your honesty about the shows. I remember the one we saw on the pre-inaugural, Somewhere in Time was it? I didn't get it and won't waste the time to try and get it this time. I would love the Beatlemania show. Hope it's still going in a few weeks.

Just came inside from shoveling 4" of the white stuff that has fallen since dinner time. I'm afraid it's come too early to grant me a snow day tomorrow! :(

Big snow storm coming Thursday and another Sat/Sun. All I can think about is that one week from Thursday, we're outta here!:D

  13. Cathy: It is the exact itinerary & will be more than glad to bring back an extra set of compasses for you:p ...do you have our email addy??? Emmy and Rick are also on our cruise!!! Later, Jill:cool:

Thank you so much!! Not sure if I have your email address or not. I'll have to take a peek. I know I have Christie's.

Lucky Emmy & Rick! Bon Voyage to you two too!

  14. You will be docked at the pier near Old San Juan...I did not think the prices at the Coach or Dooney store were any better than the stores in the Outlet Mall...Have a great time, we leave in 16 days for the Eastern

    Route:p ...Later, Jill:cool:

    Hey Jill!

I forgot you and Christie were going before me!!! I'm pretty sure your Eastern itinerary is a tad different than ours (Mia, at sea, SJ, St Maarten, at sea, Labadee, at sea), but I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to bring me back a set of compasses from your cruise. I can provide you w/my mailing address when you get back. Sure would appreciate it! We have 4 folks going w/us who have never cruised and I'm trying to provide as much advanced info I can. You can always reach me on our pre-inaugural thread.

Thanks a million and if I don't have the chance before you sail, Bon Voyage to you, Dave, Christie & Willie!

  15. Just returned... thanks for all the earlier posts!

    I'd definitely say:

    1. book private lessons for flowrider for 1st or 2nd night AND last night. We booked early arrival day for 2nd night out. Checked later in week and nights were available... but we sat on the fence too long. It did completely book up... and on the last night... I think it would have been a fabulous way to end the cruise! We missed out... but maybe you can enjoy it then!

    2. If you want to try Chops, book 1st thing on board... or earlier if you have that priviledge. We didn't until first night... already booked for the week. Got a waitlist and it cleared. So waitlist if you need to... you never know! The best night for us to have missed the dining room was on Tuesday night. (also the most popular night at chops!)

    3. only felt the crowd... in San Juan departure. Seemed everyone was trying to leave from the forward gangway... the aft gangway was uncongested.

    4. go to Labadee early to miss the mid-morning tender rush... and to get beach front chairs! Take cash for the market!!!

GREAT ship!!! Loved the E. Caribbean itinerary!

Appreciate the tips! What was Tuesday on the itinerary that made Chops so popular?

    Thanks!

  16. Hello all,

Did anyone else notice the RCL website is showing a different Eastern Caribbean itineary starting in September? (Same ports, just different days) Any idea why they would change this??? I really like the normal Eastern itineary which seems to alternate sea days and port days. The new one is more like Freedom (2 sea days and then 3 port days). The only good thing about the change is now San Juan PR is from 7am - 2pm.

It appears the revised itinerary is only temporary. Our cruise (1/3/09) is the original intinerary, THANK GOODNESS! I'm not sure I would like the 3 port days together. And, in defense of our friends who will be cruising for the first time, leaving Miami on Saturday and not seeing land until Tuesday could be tough on first timers.

I'm thrilled that our intinerary hasn't changed.

    Cathy
