That's the silliest thing I ever heard. First of all I don't really care is another cruiser has a soda cup and I don't.  I would assume that cruiser purchased the soda package or brought that cup from home. I would never look on enviously at someone's soda cup. Really? Is that the best excuse they can contrive?

    I agree.....dumbest excuse ever!!!

Yes, and you can purchase the two soda packages for $148.52. I'm not sure what they charge for a personal Rock Climbing Wall session. Therefore, using Royal Caribbean's own numbers, the value of the perk is at least $200.

There are two fair and equatable resolutions: 1) honor the original deal and grandfather those who were promised these perks, or 2) offer a $200 credit as equivalent compensation. Offering "compensation" of 1/4 the value of the original deal is sheer arrogance.

Value for longer cruises is more than $200

This is nothing new. Decades Perks are given when booked and taken away, or cost has changed. Diamond as top Tier had access to Concierge Lounge, then gone by time I sailed. Some Cruises have so many upper Tier Members they cancel Diamonds from going in own Lounge. 20yrs ago when Voyager first sailed Johnny Rockets was Free, by time I sailed month later JR was so crowded they added a cover charge. Passengers complained, even here on Cruise Critic, policy was adjusted as Cover Charge inc a Free Shake. Since was been changed several times again. More then few times prices of Cabins were listed incorrectly, Royal gave choice of cancel our Cruise or pay difference. Many times paid Shore Excursions are canceled, only to be offered again at a higher cost. Even those that had paid in Full. If I remember correctly the Perks for Neighborhood Balc were added because was hard to get these cabins filled. May not be right to change Perks after booking even if paid in Full, just pointing out that many times it's been done. Not the first, or the last...

The difference is that this perk was offered as an INCENTIVE to book this class cabin

Under the picture of Coco Cay on RCI Facebook, you will see "write a post" that is where you can post and it will pop up on visitor post on the right hand side under the bar that said "book now and message". HTH

I am happier with the OBC as well.  I'm not a cheap red wine drinker, and I couldn't care less about the specialty lunch (with a limited menu) either.  Don't get me wrong -- I would've used it, and DH probably would've consumed the wine.  The point for me is, the perks I booked with were taken away, and a 'compensation' that is valued at less than those perks was offered in return.  That's not right.  And mine is a CP balcony for two.   The folks who booked the BW balconies really took a hit - especially with families and multiple cabins - multiple soda packages is a big value to have taken away.

I'm very satisfied with my $100 OBC since that covers the lost perks for my CP balcony.   Had I been in the BW cabin, I wouldn't be happy with RCI's offer of compensation.  $50 OBC per cabin is laughable in that case.

Why don't they give people the option  of either taking the OBC or keeping the perk?

Do we honestly believe that RCI is the only cruise line that is cutting back on perks?

We cruise Celebrity,  MSC,  NCL, Princess and RCI. They are all cutting back.

Does that make it right? NO!

Should you stop cruising that line?

    That is your choice.

In the past 2 years we have seen cut backs on all lines. They all know what they can do to cut back and what we will do. They know we can do nothing to stop the cut backs.

    Examples:

    Celebrity free in cabin movies.

MSC Black card free Specialty Restaurant meal from 1/BC member to 1/cabin.

NCL charging for a Shrimp Cocktail when it was free with dining pkg.

I'm sure there are more examples.

However,  we still cruise and you will,  too.

    Happy Cruising!

Celebrity reinstated free in cabin movies

We've had a premium beverage package for years so seldom went to the happy hour or used coupons when given.  If Celebrity would 1) allow passengers to use the loaded coupons on beverages on the classic package and 2) allow guests with late dining to use them in the dining room at dinner the cruisers might be more accepting of the change.  Neither of these options would impact Celebrity's bottom line IMO.

I agree I don't think its fair that late diners can't have one of the coupons for dinner like early diners. They should extend the hours even if just for the dining room.

  8. You can check the prices at

    https://www.sncf.com/sncv1/en/services/tickets-bookings

The bigger issue is you need to get permission from the cruise line that you can disembark in Le Havre

You just cannot walk off with luggage in tow

Thanks for your prompt reply....I know about getting permission. My cruise isn't until next May. I was on that site already but couldn't find ticket cost without actually purchasing tickets. I was just looking for an approximate cost to compare to the excursion cost.

  9. Does anyone know the cost of the train from LeHavre to Paris?

We are thinking of getting off the ship a day early and spend a few days in Paris. The ships excursion on your own to Paris is 109.00 Pricier than the train but am wondering if it might be a better option ( if we can bring our luggage) Any input would be appreciated

  10. Thank you for this info, it is very helpful for a Southampton cruise that doesn't go to France as a way to see Paris after.

We are on a TA next year that ends up in Southampton but we are getting off the ship a day early in LeHavre and taking a train from there to Paris.
