  1. We bring our own soap and quarters, as the provided bill changers and/or vending machines seem often out of order.

A very easy place to get quarters is in the casino where the line may only be 0-1 person long the day or evening before you plan to do laundry.;)

  2. That's the same silver coffee mug only now it costs an additional $5 to have it "included". ;) I like that coffee mug & brought mine on my last cruise however I may leave it at home & buy another mug.

I may take one of mine on the next cruise just to get some use out of it. On sea days it does require a trip to the cabin after coffee to get rid of the mug because it does not fit in my pockets. Such are the trials and tribulations of enjoying another cruise and being spoiled.;)

  3. You can use a travel mug for brewed coffee & my wife uses her insulated Starbucks container for her frozen coffee drinks.

They have a Princess souvenir insulated mug for $5 when purchasing a coffee card onboard ($7.50 without buying the card). I don't know if you can prepurchase a coffee card for $31 & get the mug for $5 but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

I have two of the Silver Princess coffee mugs that used to be given with the purchase of the coffee card, but no more. Anyway, I always get a coffee card and a Soda sticker. It just makes ordering any non-alcohol drink so much easier and once they know you at the coffee bar areas getting a cup of the brewed coffee is so much easier as I don't even have to show the card. Too convenient to pass up.:D

  4. Not often, but actually every day.

I do remember seeing it on the MDR menu each day, but only one was listed as I recall. I tried a couple and they were ok, so now I will make a list and be sure to order those mentioned above and the one recommended in the HC. Too bad my next Princess cruise is still 222 days away.:(

  5. I do eat sugar free (I'm Diabetic) and have tried a lot of them on board in both the HC and the MDR.

I find that they are quite good. They also have a nice variety so you are not stuck eating the same sugar free stuff all the time.

As for anything specific. it is hard to say as they mix things up.

By my favorite sugar free dessert was a "hazelnut pumpkin pudding with 5 spice sauce". That was to die for. If you see it, you have to try it.

I don't remember seeing that one on the menu, but will certainly give it a try on the next cruise when I see it. Are the sugar free in the HC labeled as such?:)

I guess I just have not paid as much attention as I should, but then I am on Holiday and so is my brain when I'm cruising.:p

  6. What sites show what Princess Ships are being updated or going into dry dock as your dates indicates?

    Tom:)

You don't need the dry dock schedules, just go to the Island booking pages and see that she is booking cruises during the dates mentioned by Pam. Two Panama Canals that cover the time slot. Island will not get a refurb until 2014. It does have the Patissere (sp) not the IC.;)

  7.

If you have Google mail you can use it to call land and mobile numbers for free ( better then SKYPE ) anywhere in North America.

You need a fast wifi service but we did it from Med ports this spring on our TA.

Did a free 25 minute call from Rome to Toronto and one to LA.

    Ahoy baldercash,

I have Google mail but can't find anything on the website about this. Great Secret though, how does one log into this on Gmail?

We don't remember any computers outside of the Cruise Sales office on any of the ships we have been on, but then maybe we just did not pay attention to it.:o

  8. It's a great summary & sure that it'll be helpful to those who are new to the MOBC program which both of us have been enjoying since it was first implemented. :D

I used my Hawaiian dictionary I use here in Maui to learn the meaning of your CC name which is very appropriate...Sailor, passenger, anyone who sails; to sail, take a sail or ocean trip. hoʻo.holo.moku To sail.

You're the first to look it up and my Geocaching name is Ho'ohuli. I'm looking over at you right now from Waikoloa on the Big Island.

Mahalo for your service and maybe we'll be on the same cruise one day?:)

  9. But after that the Princess form goes on to say if within 90 days of separation date, that's what I was basing my thoughts on. So is the 90 day threshold for the education discharge or all 3. When calling they say he qualifies time will tell.

If you were in for 2 years and got an Hon. Dis. you qualify. Just send in your DD214 and then take a copy on your cruise with you in case the ship does not get the information. It is really a no hassle item.:D

  10. It's been available for the last 20 months & it's sad that your TA gave you bad information. The TA should have simply contacted Princess or checked their website to provide an accurate answer. :(

It's suppose to be received at least 14 days before sailing & take about 7 days to process. You may want to email or call them a week before sailing because I've had them expedite requests if possible. Originally we had to apply each time but now it has to only be done the first time. :)

The Mil. OBC has been around for a long time. I first used it in 2011 after leaning of it on our Panama Canal Cruise in '10. The amount is just like the Stock OBC and depends on the length of the cruise. The split point is 14/15 night cruises, with 14 being $100 and 15+ being $250. Just send them a copy of your DD214 with the SS number blacked out and then be sure and check with them in the middle of your cruise. Once I had to produce the approval letter and my DD214 because the ship had not received the info. They checked with the home office and all was good.:)

We take copies of everything to do with a trip in a file with us. Always helps when questions arise.;)

Oops! Sorry for repeating some of the info, I had not read all the pages.:o

  11. Drop off the carry-ons, move the luggage into the room. Get the Cruise Card punched and explore the ship, getting the stamps at every location and entering all the drawings. Then topsides to watch the departure. We use our lanyards on our entire Holiday and even get the Hotel cards punched and wear them. Never lost one that way.

  12. We bring a mesh bag, like the shoes bags, that my DW makes and hang it from the shower head arm. In it we put the small bottles of shampoos, the different soaps, rasors, etc. That way the counter is not cluttered and everything that gets wet drips dry through the mesh. We have used Walkie-Talkies on every cruise and even have a spare set for anyone that cruises with us. Really saved me, when I almost missed the ship in Halifax last year! I was not paying attention to the time and was the very, very last person to board that day. The gang plank had already been moved away, now that was close!

  13. On a Princess Cruise there was a couple that was highly recognizable by there style of dress and accent, even though they said they were from So.Cal. Anyway, they made themselves known by always complaining about everything. One did not have to see them to know who was complaining in a loud voice. Near the end of the Cruise they were the last couple to be seated at our table, Anytime Dining, a table for 8. We had eaten with a few of the folks before and someone had seen this couple coming in and said I hope they are not at this table, oh well. We all look at each other as they sit down. Then everything was fine for the six of us, but for them nothing was correct. After Appetisers and Soup/Salads the Entries arrive. They taste their meals and she takes a sip of water, motions for the Waiter and then says that the water is no good. They get up to leave in a huff and it was the rest of us could do not to clap for their departure. We all complimented the staff on their paitience and enjoyed the rest of the meal in peace. Having worked with the public for 20 years I know one cannot make some customers Happy no matter what is done for them. I think they just like to feel important by making the biggest scene they can. Cruising is FUN, so sit back and enjoy!
