You go, jenny105 - you're almost there. I walked 8 miles over the last couple of days - still 832 mi to go in 120 days - I'm not going to make it, am I?!! Don't sail without me:confused:
-
another walk; 6 mi down, 834 to go - too many days to go
-
nice day - not as nice as the caribbean in july - as in not quite hot enough for me - but got in an 8 mile walk - so 8 down, a measley 840 mi to go - which somehow doesn't intimidate me as much as the 124 days I have to wait:cool:
-
just put in another 4 on my lunch break - 2 on the treadmill, 2 outside - 848 miles to go in 125 days - my Liberty is so far away still, but any other ideas of things I could be doing to get ready for my cruise and to make the time go by more quickly?
-
lucky you - we didn't dodge that bullet - we got 8" here in Northern VA - VIRGINIA for goodness sake - in MARCH!!! anyway, really gotta get to my cruise so I advanced another mile today - walking on a treadmill - 1 down 852 to go - 128 days to do it
-
Yay! Five more miles today. 853 miles to go in 130 days. There won't be any additional miles for a few days as the snow is a-comin'.
-
Woo-hoo! I'm on my way. I walked 7 miles today - only 858 miles and 131 days to my Liberty cruise.
-
a lot of days standing between my Liberty cruise and me - I can't count that high so I have to wait and see the number on my countdown clock after I hit enter

I love this. I'm in. I have to go 865 miles to catch my ship. I've got 137 days. That averages 6.3 miles/day. Right now I'm completely sedentary, as in hibernating through the cold months. But every May, first weekend of the month, I walk 39.3 miles in a breast cancer charity walk. March 1, weather or no weather, I start training, and then in May and June I ride my bike a lot. So between walking and biking I should be able to do 865 miles and get to the Liberty on time. As soon as I start moving again, I'll post my progress here.

this is terrific; just the kind of information I've been looking for; can't wait to read more; thank you

I'll even take 153 days....I still have 260 till we sail. :(
thanks for making me feel better
-
153 days - ugh! But I'll pass the time by reading your reviews. Thanks in advance;)

Not exactly an answer to your question, but I saw this cute idea from another thread - for anyone cruising without their young kids - it will ease your guilt because you'll be doing something for your child while enjoying your cruise - ask your child to lend you one of his or her favorite stuffed toys and pose it every night with your towell animal and take a picture

Like many Cruise Critic devotees, once we book a cruise I can't think of anything other than the fact that there is a cruise in our future. So here's what I have to do before a cruise: I play a game with myself - I challenge myself not to mention the cruise to anyone else in my family for a certain amount of time, like a day. I'm never successful, but I wake up every day trying.

Yes, I have been. I kayaked over with VI Ecotours. The excursion also includes hiking and snorkeling. Very interesting maritime history that's seldom mentioned in reference to the Caribbean.
Thank you! Sounds like an endorsement to me!

According to Google Maps the walk from the dock to Maho Beach is 11.5 KM (just over 7 miles).
Oh, that's too far. Thanks everyone who replied to my question.
-
jerrya72, you nailed it - very perceptive
I have to ditto GTO-Girl and fldw126
-
Is Maho not pretty nearby to where Carnival docks? Could fit people who easily walk a couple of miles walk there?
-
Thank you for the information. Have you been there? What did you do there?
-
Has anyone taken the ferry to Hassel Island? What did you do there? How did you like it? We're a healthy family of five, 3 older teen boys, thinking it would be a good way to spend the day.
-
our first cruise was a shortish one, maybe 3 days, and followed right on top of a week at the beach. when i go to the beach i don't do jewelry, makeup or dresses and somehow i thought a cruise would be like a stay at the beach - so you could say i forgot makeup jewelry and dresses - or you could say i was a dooofus for not knowing what a cruise would be like.

Next cruise, July -
afternoon tea
sauna
comedy club brunch
Future
cruise all by myself
trans-atlantic
panama canal
I probably shouldn't have read all the responses because now my bucket list is full of really expensive things whereas it used to be pretty conservative; and like one other respondent said, I don't think my pockets are as deep as my bucket
I'm RUNNING to the ship!

ha ha. I don't think so, jenny105, but I'm still trying. I've been walking, put in 15 mi over the last few days. So 817 mi to go in 116 days.
