One thing we found mesmerizing was when we were in one side of the lock and there was another ship in the other lock traveling through at the same time. You could really see what was going on.
We liked being in the promenade and our balcony during the transit. The bow was packed and hard to see anything.....

The Haven is nice! BUT, don't think that your 8 year old will be happy with the Haven pool. It's literally about 4 foot by 8 feet and is 3 feet deep.

There's no reason why a real service dog shouldn't be walked through the buffet or is in a restaurant. There's much more likely a chance of some sort of contamination from a human hand, sneeze, head of hair, then a dog that is below the counter level hurting anyone's food......

We went in a 14 night in February and there were less then 30 under 18's on board. I have an 11 year old. She loved it! She met 3 new great friends and they never had a hard time finding wacko they at the pool or splash.

I think that there is a real need for an emotional support animal. I have a friend who came back from Afghanistan with severe PTSD and after he got his service dog he was so much better off. That dog provides constant comfort, companionship and support....
So I don't' think that everyone should be judging ALL of the emotional support animals out there.

The crab cake benedict is what I miss most from the suite (non haven) breakfast. We really loved the selection of fresh fruit too, much better then the regular buffet (raspberries, blackberries, kiwi, strawberries, peaches and more).

We did the PV dolphins. The one at the water park and had a great time. We booked it on our own and took a taxi ($15 each way). I think it was called Aquaventuras.

Is this in the same area as the large adult pool? We have only cruised Disney where anything "adult only" was in an area kids were not even allowed to walk through. Are kids allowed to walk around the adult pol (mid ship) just not swim?
They were on the Jewel. There was 2 adult only, and an adult only pool, then a family pool and 2 hot tubs by there, and then a kids only hot tub. I think the Breakaway has that adult only area that people pay extra for...
-
So, I have read four pages of hot tub rules but don't have a true handle on this. I have a 13 and 10 year old. If we follow the rules, is there a hot tub for them to use?
Adding, to say we are on the getaway.
Yes, a couple of them will be labeled "Adult Only" and they can go in all of the other ones.

We were on the 14 day Jewel on 2/14/16. O'Sheehans had the "old" menu with pot pie on it....

We had were in a suite last month and never asked for anything...she bought stuff to us, but we didn't ask for any of it. We never called her on the phone they have in the room, never left her a note, etc.....

We were just on the Jewel, and received the following (from your list).
Plain Salted potato chips
tortilla chips and salsa
peanut m&ms
mini m&Ms
gummy bears (not the regular kind, these were GIANT)
chocolates
chocolate truffles
chocolate covered strawberries
cookies (chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chocolate)

Oh and the chocolate museum is about two blocks from the jade museum toward the center of town. They'll give you a map in the bus with it marked.

You can easily do it on your own. The chocolate museum is just one room with boards to read attached to a store. The jade museum is the same. You walk around and read the exhibits and then there's a store.

We just got off the Jewel two weeks ago. They played an informational movie on the tv starting about 3 days before we got to the canal constantly. They had a informational guide on the overhead throughout the day of the transit.
We were scheduled to get to the first lock at 7:00 am. People were on the bow at 430 am. We were in a suite with a balcony. We spent a lot of time on the balcony, a lot of time on deck 7 (promenade wasn't crowded at all) and they invited suite guests up to the Haven also, which was nice.

I don't see what the big deal is. The painting takes a few minutes, and it dries fast too. They've got to paint it sometime..right?

We were just there and at the dock it seems like nothing but there is a nice shop (actually the nicest shopping we saw on our trip) and a little petting zoo/aviary with lots of birds and monkeys in the trees. You could hire taxis from there if you wanted. We chose to just do the little free zoo and shop and go back to the ship. It we HOT!

Did you FLUSH..THEN PEE? While sitting there? Why did you do that?
All toilets produce "spray"..that's why home toilets have lids...so you can close them before flushing to decrease the "spray"....
Don't you have to shut the lid to be able to flush on the ships? I don't remember ever being able to get to the flush button without closing the lid.
I also would probably not use a paper seat if it was just cleaned......

Two weeks ago on the jewel they had one "salad of the day" usually Ceasar (never saw a bowl of anchovies). Then they had a salad bar with three types of lettuce and usually about 8 different toppings and 4 dressings. I really appreciated that they had some bottles of fat free dressing there as well.

Guest Lectures - Canal Narrator
in Panama Canal
Posted
We did a full transit on the Jewel in February. The lecturer got on before dawn and spoke almost all day long taking a break as we traveled across the lake. He was very good. Also, starting a couple days before we arrived they started playing a movie about the canal.
