Thanks, looks like we will see what happens when we get there.

Just realized I didn't post this on France board and don't know how to delete it, but anyone who has been on a British Isles cruise, help would be appreciated. Thanks, and thanks again.

We will be sailing on Royal Princess and in Le Havre on June 5. We have rented a car with Enterprise in town and have read on CC that taxis do not want to take you into town for such a short trip. We are capable of walking the mile or so, but wondered if Princess has a shuttle. Any help appreciated.

We booked May 25, 2018 (to Kirkwall) just a couple of weeks ago. An inside was $799. Surprisingly the air was very cheap, too, Glad I didn't book a year ago.

Last week on Royal: Wonder Woman, Three Billboards, Victoria and Abdul, Battle of the Sexes, Guardians of the Galaxy II and a couple of others I can't remember. Good selections, in my view.

Thank you for the informative review! It made me very excited to leave on the 29th for the same itinerary on the Royal. Was the wine package available on your cruise?

Just took one last week for our Jan. 29 ten day Caribbean on Royal. $169 to move from inside to balcony.

Really enjoyed reading this review and the photos are first-rate! We sail on the Royal January 29, so this review was better than three cups of coffee to get me pumped for the trip.

Sea Dog-46's recommendation to email John Boyle is a good idea. We hired him the day we arrived in Buenos Aires pre-cruise and had a great tour before going to hotel that evening. He is very knowledgeable and really affordable.

This guy and the "nanny" were assigned to our table on the previous Royal Princess for the 24 days "Four Continent" trans-Atlantic sailing.
This was shortly after he murdered his wife....
Tell us more, Chrysalis. Was the murderer good company or still "mourning" his dead wife? I always wonder about the secret lives of tablemates, but I've never imagined I might be seated next to a murderer.

Thank you for the great pictorial review, Lou. We leave on the Royal January 9, so your review is just the "appetizer" I needed on this cold, wintry day.

This has happened to us two times but via email about a week before cruise. We took one offer to South America and passed on the other cruise that went to Baltic. Great deal if you can make it work and nothing to worry about.

I totally agree that compensation should be based on what you pay for a cruise. We paid nowhere close to $15,000 for this cruise and were, therefore, reasonably happy with what Vantage offered as compensation. After the ship broke down, we ended up staying in a lovely Hilton hotel in Vienna for four nights. There was no attempt to give “suite” passengers upgraded rooms. Friends on the ship who were staying in a suite on the ship had a small room on the second floor of the hotel and we had a ninth floor room with a lovely view of Vienna. Go figure! I hope that Cruise123@ will persist in his efforts to get a more suitable compensation. Vantage does not seem to be very good at making quick decisions. Hope you get to experience a future cruise that is indeed a “trip of a lifetime.”

My husband and I were on the July 7 Vantage cruise from Bonn to Budapest and also are puzzled as to what caused the bow thruster engine to break down on a brand-new ship, but we are satisfied with how Vantage handled the unfortunate situation. Since the ship could not move forward, there was no alternative but to travel by bus. Initially, like the above poster, we thought Vantage was doing nothing to compensate passengers for the disruption. The communication from higher-ups was poor, to say the least, but at the end of the trip every passenger was given $500 credit toward a future cruise. About three weeks after we got home we received a letter from Vantage that offered us a free cruise on the Seine in November--which we are taking. Two other couples that we befriended on the cruise also received the offer, so I am not sure why the above poster did not receive compensation. The July 7 cruise was our first river cruise, and in spite of the ship break-down we had a fabulous time. There was nothing "horrendous" about it.

Wow and Wow! Iceland is my favorite place on Earth and this blog and the fabulous photos reaffirmed why. Thank you, Andy, for investing so much time in the excellent blog.

We are not staying at a Princess hotel, but will take a taxi to port around 10:30 and hope for the best. Thank you everyone.

We are embarking on the Ruby this Saturday during the ship's 8am-8pm stop in Buenos Aires. The Ruby is on a 49 day voyage from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles with a couple of embarkation points along the way, but Buenos Aires isn't one of them. Does anyone know what time passengers can board in this situation? I called Princess and the agent said 7:30 pm--which is crazy--and after further checking said 1 pm. We were hoping to board about 11 am. Does that dound doable? Thanks for any input. Love CC.

. . .still following along and enjoying every word and photo, Norris. I'm a former photojournalism and journalism teacher and can't decide which I like better--your narrative or your wonderful photos. You have an A+ in both categories right now, so keep up the good work. I can be a harsh critic when writers rush to the finish! We board the Ruby in six days in Buenos Aires. Your review is making me practically have palpitations I'm so excited.

Keep it coming, Norris! Thirteen days until we embark the Ruby in Buenos Aires. Your lively review and fabulous photos are making me uber-excited. We were originally scheduled to sail on the Golden Jan. 31, but Princess made us a move-over offer we couldn't refuse--upgrade to mini-suite and basically FREE cruise if we could move to later date. We love the Ruby so it was a no-brainer, and your review is reinforcing our decision. Thank you, thank you.
-
Your photos are fabulous--great composition and lighting. We are getting on the Ruby in two weeks, so I anxiously await the remainder of your review and photos. Wine is poured and I'm ready for more!

Thanks for all the useful tips. Headed to BA in 3 weeks.

Thank you for all your helpful port reviews. All interesting! We are leaving for similar voyage in three weeks and I am going to make sure to have plenty of cold weather gear. I suspect, though, your Florida blood accounted for some of your discomfort from the cold. We mid-westerners think it's a warm day if it hits 30 in the winter.

Can't wait to hear more about your cruise. We board when you get off in BA on the 31st. Hope they are as "nice" to us about the wine as they were to you in Santiago. So much good wine in Argentina!
