  1. We were non-Haven in our last trip and NCL had advance notice of my son’s peanut allergy.  Every single time we sat down for a served meal someone would come to the table, confirm at the table who had the peanut allergy, and then would go over the menu pointing out any foods that may be a problem.

The only time this didn’t happen was (obviously) the buffet since nobody is serving you.  But I would have no worries about food allergies onboard.  They were impeccable and very careful every time we ate.

For the beach you will need to stay in Miami Beach - South Beach is the most popular and closest to the port.

Not many Miami hotels will not have a pool, so anywhere downtown will work.  Besides the above suggestion check out the Intercontinental, Doubletree, next door Marriott and the Holiday Inn - all offer some rooms with a view of the port.  The pool at the Doubletree is amazing.

If you are flying into FLL and choose to stay in that area pre-cruise check out www.sunny.org for lots of hotel and tourist info.

Thanks!  We intend to fly into MiamI but if there was an amazing option near FLL we would make it work.

I get that people don't think "anything will happen" so they don't buy proper insurance coverage, but YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN, so it is on you to be prepared and protect your investment.

I am sorry if you did not pay the relatively small amount more it would have cost you to cover your bases, but that is NOT NCL's fault.  And they are not meanies for not changing their policy for you.

And this situation right here is an amazing example of YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN.

  4. My daughter also loves Six and we are so excited to see it on Breakaway this summer... probably all 4 times if she has her way 😂  You are likely to see the cast onboard getting food, etc as they’re allowed to eat in the passenger areas.  There’s a fan IG account @cruisesix that posts pics and regrams pictures of the stars if your daughter wants to follow the actresses... may be a way for her to contact them beforehand and see if she can meet them!

  5. The use of the atrium for events is one of my least favorite things about Breakaway... actually, it’s probably my top complaint.  You can’t get a seat, you can’t participate, but you CAN totally clog the walkways and make it almost impossible for traffic to flow through the O’Sheehans area.

People will grab one of the (few) chairs downstairs and save a couple more for friends, then sit there all day and refuse to let you use the empty chair they’re saving.  It’s like sharks circling in for the kill if you want to sit in one of them!  The second someone stands up 5 people make a beeline for it.  It’s one thing if you want to sit all day and watch all the games and presentations (great!) but if you want to nap?  Or have a conversation?  Lots of other places to do that.

  6. To comment on something an earlier poster said- there are plenty of places to eat at the port in Bermuda.  Off the top of my head Frog & Onion is right there and we had two really good meals at the Dockyard Pastry Shophttps://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g562685-d3726875-Reviews-The_Dockyard_Pastry_Shop-Sandys_Parish_Bermuda.html.  Lots of other choices too.

We did Moderno one night and it was at least half empty (don’t know if the reservations were all gone, though).  Hibachi is always booked solid since it’s family friendly.

  7. The room service - I know Haven gets it free, but do they charge you the service fee if ordering other than continental in this category? Nope, just the free breakfast delivery, as far as we knew so that’s all we ever ordered.

    - I know I get priorty embarkation ( am Plat Plus) but do you embark with the Haven or after them when in a SC? We embarked with Haven, they brought us into the little Haven waiting room at port and then escorted us up directly into Cagneys for lunch.

-Concierage service  is availbale  for  me- Does the concierage  take you off the ship at ports as priority as they do with the haven in this category? They do if you ask them to!

    - Gem does not have haven restaurant so with  being in SC do I get to eat in Cageneys for breaksfast or modernos? Can't remeber which one they use. I believe breakfast was in Moderno, lunch was Cagneys.  We only did the breakfast on the last day which was a mistake because it was REALLY good.

-Room selection- Would like to be on port side but am limited to what is available

Cabin selection- I have looked at the deck plans and even the site where you can drag the deck plans over one another and you tube  tours of the fitness center to get an idea.. SO that bein said looking for input if anyone has stayed in these rooms.

We were in 11030 this summer and it was NOT quiet.  Lots of noise above, I think because the stairs were right on top of us you could hear people pounding up & down and a lot of stuff being dragged around.  As the cruise went on and people got more relaxed/the kids starting running around more, the noise from above got louder.  If you are a light sleeper, avoid this room at all costs!  Otherwise it’s a great room though.

  8. It’s a popular sailing.  They’ll keep raising the price as long as people are willing to pay for it, and since we Boston folks are used to paying way overinflated prices for everything... it’s just gonna keep going up.

  9. We have had mixed experiences with the Thermal spa and it really comes down to how much you love quiet.  It’s very, very quiet in there!  If you’re planning to go in with all six of you and have full volume conversations, you’re going to get death looks from everyone else.  If you all want somewhere quiet to sit and read, or nap, or quietly chat- you’re good.

I believe you can bring a drink in with you but they don’t serve alcohol in there.  Alcohol and steam rooms/saunas/hot places don’t mix well...

as to whether it’ll be crowded we did the thermal spa on the last sea day in early spring (a cold day) heading back to NYC and it wasn’t crowded.  We’ve always been able to find a seat though you may not get two or more of the heated loungers together.  Unfortunately people do chair hog those loungers just like on the pool deck by leaving personal items on them.

  10. You can buy him sodas with your drink package. You just need to ask for them at the same time, usually you can get two drinks per card.  If you go to the bar with your spouse’s card, 4 drinks.  Yes, technically it’s “wrong” to do but I’ve never heard of anyone being stopped from doing it or told not to do it.

the big difference is your kid won’t be able to get his own sodas without a card. My 11 year old likes going to the bar to order a Shirley temple. Not convinced an 8 year old would want to do this anyway!
