Correct, Mic. Older than Stonehenge. Unfortunately the farmer who had the rights to the land grew tired of mowing around them and brought in equipment and had a few stones flattened. Local outrage ensued and UNESCO stepped in. It’s now, rightfully, a protected site.
Your turn.
Meh. Old, but ever so boring.
Same sort of stuff in the Orkneys, near Kirkwall.
You drag yourself through a paddock and ho-hum. A few stones.

One of the most boring cities in Germany.

I am quite sure I have seen that church (well, I remember that walkway looking thing) somewhere on an Iceland cruise. Some "fjodur" or another, probably.
Eevaakocornukopiafjodur!

That local bus info is good! I would not have thought of that! Beats the high price of the HoHo bus, if you just want to get an orientation.

The Blue Mountains are always lovely. Not difficult by train from Central to Katoomba (the main village up there) or Leura (just before).
As others say, there IS a HoHo bus, but it DOES NOT run very frequently.
Take a careful look at the timetable.
(I'd call it a HoHum bus).
Some stops are really only good for a 5 to 10 minute look around, and then you waiiiiiit for the next bus to trundle along.
If money isn't the main concern, there are some very good day-tours from Sydney on small buses. Much better than the tour on large coaches. These tours are quite a long day, but they do show you a lot.

Fly into Perth.
Take the Indian Pacific luxury train straight across the country to Sydney over 4-5 days (google that one), then cruise to NZL (and possibly back to SYD) over 10-14 nights.

Ah, I have sentimental reasons for the Four Seasons. I met my wife there 30something years ago when it was the Regent.

Whatever you decide, make sure you have/take
Sturdy, non-slip footwear
A hat/cap
Sun protection
A water bottle
