  1. You will receive priority check in but not priority boarding.

What's the difference? Would this only apply if you got there and got checked-in before boarding started?

If they are already boarding wouldn't priority check-in in effect give you quicker boarding?

Does this vary by port? We are cruising on the Navigator out of Galveston in October.

    Thank you!

  2. Thank you so much for posting such an extensive list!!

Can you tell me about Drink of the Day prices?

With/without the glass? Can you get a Drink of the Day without the souvenir glass for cheaper?

I am still trying to figure out whether to spring for a beverage package. If a Rum and Diet Coke or a Drink of the Day can be had for $5 (+15%) that will definitely make a difference in my calculation.

How are the Drink of the Days alcohol-wise? On Carnival I thought they were super weak even when ordering at a bar vs the pass-arounds.

  3. To the individual who was inquiring about their C&A status and are bringing a friend on their cruise who has never been on RC, once you get your C&A status situated, log in online under their website and find the "Bring a Friend" link under the C&A page.

If your friend has never been on RC before, all you have to do is fill out a small form, RC will check it, and you can receive $25 of on-board credit.

    Easy Money!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

Gotta love Cruise Critic! Getting together w/friends Fri night to see if they want to go on Oct cruise w/us. Don't know if they have ever been on RCCL but if not we'll definitely be claiming our $25 bucks! Hey every little bit helps!

    Thanks for the hint!!:D

  4. I had the same problem but didn't even know it. I looked at RCCL's site to get an idea of prices and what's available but then I always book through DiscoverCard's TA to get a discount. When I call the TA she was able to come up with a much better location for my cabin! She was able to see many more options than I could. I couldn't even pull up the deck she was looking at for my chosen category.

So... you might try a TA!

  5. I didn't make it to all the shows, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I did enjoy the ones I did go to. I am easily entertained though....

    I enjoyed:

    The Grooveline show

Destination: Unknown (had Jason Byrne doing magic - if choice be sure to go to this show instead of a Night of Magic with Mark Miller).

I also went to most of the Adult Comedy Shows. 4 different comedians throughout the week and a different show even when it was the same comedian. I would think it would be different comedians but we enjoyed Steve White, Tony Esposito, and Cowboy Bill Martin. Especially Steve White! Mike Lukas had some good jokes but unfortunately had some bombs also - felt sorry for him. Adult shows aren't just for 18 & up - please listen to advisement that they aren't for the easily offended either!

Get there 30 minutes early for a good seat (and maybe even for just A seat).

  6. We tried running lines off 'our' balcony and apparently, that is not allowed either!! What is Celebrity thinking?? Put a good southern man on a boat and of course he's gonna fish!!!! (....also no shooting at endangered animals in the Alaskan wilderness.....whatever!!)

Please tell me that you can at least still shoot at the non-endangered animals! I don't know what DH would do if they eliminated all the hunting after they eliminated the fishing.

  7. Hmmmm, I guess that depends on how you interpret it. I know buckets of beer have been bought at the 25% discount. So why not the tubes? Like I said...Im not certain :) But my interpretation of that is...those items are not included under Cheers...

BUT, all spirits, beer or wine above $10 per drink are eligible for discount. A bottle of wine is certainly more than one drink as well and its eligible :)

But as you see above - the bottle of wine and champagne has the parenthesis that it is offered at a 25% discount. The discount on the bucket of beers is not offered thru the Cheers program, it is just their discount on a bucket of beers for anyone. Cheers doesn't give you an add'l discount on a bucket. The tubes, pitchers and large cocktails meant to be shared (this may be the key word - no sharing on the Cheers program) are not offered at a discount. You could try saying the 101 oz tube is just for you but it won't work because they specifically exclude it in the program terms.

  8. Thanks!

    One more question...

If you have the cheers program and want to purchase the 101oz tube at the bar do you get the 25% off?

lol, without knowing what a 101oz tube is :) Im not a beer drinker but I assume thats what it is (someone help me if its a tube of grand marnier  lol) but I would assume so as they state any beer over $10 is eligible for the 25% discount.

I don't think the tubes are eligible for the 25% off:

    http://www.carnival.com/Core/FAQ.aspx?faq=beverage

Beverages excluded from the program are:

    · Non-alcoholic beverages other than soda and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails.

    · Beverages promoted and sold in souvenir glasses.

    · Bottles of liquor

    · Bottled water

    · Beverages offered at gangway while debarking

    · Beverages offered through room service as well as mini bars and/or other in-stateroom beverage programs.

    · Sharing cocktails, floaters, pitchers, tubes and buckets.

    · Wine and champagne by the bottled (offered at 25% discount)

    · All spirits, beer or wine above $10.00 per drink (offered at a 25% discount).

    · Beverages offered through enomatic machines.

    · Coffee beverages and food items.

    · All other beverage-related programs including cookbooks and bar books, beverage seminars and classes, as well as cigars.

    Sorry!:(

  9. Wonderful suggestions everyone!! Will be purchasing Cheers program for first & last time on cruise in August! First - because it's first cruise I've taken that it's available so I'm going to have some fun with it and see if I can try ALL these drinks! And mainly because since I'm traveling with my 20 yr old DD I only have to buy one. Last - because next time I will have to buy 2 - whether I cruise with my DD or with my DH. And I really think I will have to drink more than I normally would to get my money's worth - especially because of port days. I think I could drink $50/day of drinks (since they're so expensive) on a sea day but not 7 days in a row! Call me a light weight! And also because I can't imagine spending $700 on alcohol in a week (and that's not counting what I spend on embarktion day in Galveston)! Yikes! You can call me cheap too! ;)

Definitely going to have a Mocha Chocolate Getaway for dessert one night!!

  10. BTW I just booked about a month ago for a cruise in about a month. So just under 2 months out for a prime summer beginning of August cruise and the lowest price between June 12th when I booked and this week has gone up $150/pp. Guess I caught it just right for once! Or they just raised the rates so their new sales would look better.

Looking at their new winter sale and eyeing a non-peak January cruise. For $20/pp more than my August cruise I can book another 7 day Carnival Magic cruise but move up from an interior 4F to a cove balcony! Or save $260/pp and stay in the interior and book a 3rd cruise! ;)

  11. That MC link looks like it is only if you pay for your cruise with a MC not just your onboard S&S.

I went through DiscoverCard.com to link to a certain TA of their choosing to use to book my cruise. By booking through them and paying with my Discover Card I will be getting 5% cash back which in my case is more than $50. I think they have this offer all the time.

  12. Sherri - Who knew what you were getting into when you mentioned your little (actually big!) spreadsheet! LOL

I am a planning freak too but my spreadsheet was nothing like yours! I wanted to thank you so much for posting it! I just booked an August cruise this week and came across this post a few minutes ago and I have already downloaded it!! Thanks for posting it online!!

I would love to go on the Oasis - I am definitely thinking about it next year - but this year I'm going on the Carnival Magic. I love your spreadsheet but I'm worried about getting obsesses with customizing it to the Magic. hahaha I would love to have as much info about the Magic as you have about the Oasis of the Seas.

Anyway, count me as one of the very many in the Sherri Fan Club!!!

Thank you very much for sharing!! You are very kind!
