anyone just off Legend? Did it make it into tracy's arm last Thursday?

Does the small boat go in or does it go to another area. Is it worth the small boat excursion

when we searched avis there were only cars available. (booked a year ago!) We decided to go with green jeep so we can go further down the dyea road. (gravel and avis won't allow their vehicles on gravel roads.) we are going in a week and will let you know what we thought of Green Jeep.

Has any ship made it into Tracy's arm this year? I noticed a few post say they were unable to enter. Sailing beginning July....can you usually enter by then?

Has any sailing (Legend) this year made it into tracy's arm? If not, is it worth doing the small boat excursion the tracy arm day?

Just wanted to update- we did Klondike Gold Fields last week and it was wonderful! I tried calling to ask questions but never got an answer. We ended up just taking smart bus ($5 each runs every 30 min) and they brought us right there. We did sled dog presentation (offered a few times the day we were there) and panning for gold. It ended up being a highlight of our trip and the first thing my boys talk about when asked about our trip!!

Can you tell me the cost for the dog sled presentation and do you happen to remember the cost for the dredge tour. I am interested in separate as my husband and I may do different tours for the sake of time and money.

Thanks for the reply. My question is it appears they added a third time. We are at 4 but there is also a 11 and 2 : 30. Anyone seen the late ( 4 pm) boat?

Anyone have experience with the small boat into Tracy arm that departs at 4 pm? We requested 2:30 and were given 4 pm. Is it similar to the regular boat?

I had planned to book this excursion directly with the vendor, but it was sold out so I had to book through Carnival since my dad really wanted to go on this tour. On our trip last week, the cruise director mentioned the excursion price match during one of her talks. So I went ahead and submitted a request at the excursion desk onboard once we got back from the tour. It was granted-so I got a $110 credit for our two tickets :)

 

Thought I would share on here in case anyone else booked this tour directly with Carnival. I did not have a brochure to give them for the price match, but I gave them the vendor's web address, so they saw it was $169 vs Carnival's $220 price.

what did you think of the tour? Did you have time to explore Ketchikan after? Anyone else with experience having carnival price match this?

Hoping for some help on Bering Sea crab in Ketchikan.

Has anyone booked them direct? Will Carnival Price match the excursion as it is 50.00 cheaper each to book direct rather than through Carnival.

I am also wondering if people had time to explore Ketchikan after. I noticed Ketchikan is one dock short as Celebrity hit a dock recently and concerned that if we are tendered (4 ships in port and 3 docks that day) that we may miss the tour if not booked through Carnival. (or does anyone know if there is only one bering sea boat so carnival excursion people are on the same boat.)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I wondered about cell phone service. I was reading somewhere that people used cell phone data.

I know the general rule is don't call from the ship because it will jump to the ship but can you use shore data from your cell phone? Is there extra charges to use cell phone data from the ship? What about texting?

I did the Fly to Fun for my upcoming trip on the Vista to the Southern Carribean. When I booked with Carnival I was told to keep checking for lower fares. I checked the fare yesterday for the flights we had booked and called Carnival to change as the flights were def lower.

 

I saved $200. I was reminded again to keep checking the flights and if they are lower again to call back and we can rebook again

 

We don't have to pay until our balance is due

When is your flight? I notice that delta seemed to be lower but I am within 60 days and was told 200.00 charge. Was carnival price matching flights.

I am very happy with the price I got for flights but just happened to notice that Delta had a lower price on a day I checked.

Probably a silly question but hope someone knows!

We have rented a Green Jeep in Skagway and are driving into the Yukon. Is it safe to wander Robinson Roadhouse. I wondered about snakes, bears and maybe poison ivy.

I noticed it is a Historical Site but didn't know if lots of people wander it or not.

Any other out of the way places to see on the Klondike HWY would be appreciated.

Did you do economy or comfort plus if you can do that or first class? Did they give you an option of times

I think they book economy and then when I choose the seats we could upgrade to comfort plus. THey did have options on which flight we choose. I had Delta website open at the time and could ask for the flights (times) I wanted. Prices varied a little but if I remember right all were much lower then the price | was looking at on the Delta site.

When you get your flights make sure to confirm the flexible or if your flights are "unchangeable." Our flights were flexible and we could change and I think, cancel them up to 60 days before the cruise.

I am not sure if I could have requested first class as that was not something I was interested in.

When we booked fly 2 fun it was pretty new. There was a little confusion on flights when we first started but hopefully all the learning curve is done.

When will you be cruising? How long after you booked your flights were you able to make you seat selections?

I put a payment for the amount of the flight and they sent me my flight info the day I booked. I then choose seats that day or possibly the day after. I am not sure if they would have released the confirmation number without the payment. We did the flexible so full payment for the flight was not due until the cruise payment was due in full.

I was planning on booking through delta but just happened to see the fly 2 fun and tried it. It was less then the price delta was quoting. I choose the flight I wanted.

Does anyone know how soon ahead you can get prices/book the air through Carnival? I know different airlines release travel dates at different times but am not sure if Carnival is able to price and book them earlier when a person can't yet.

We have had our flights for about 6 months now. choose our own seats. I would try fly 2 fun again, atleast to price check.

Are we able to empty the mini bar fridge in our room so we can use it? We are on Legend.

I used fly 2 fun. On a whim I called to price flights and was surprised when carnival was 80.00 cheaper per flight then what Delta was quoting for the same flight. (flight was able to be cancelled up to 60 days before) The balance was due when the cruise was but I think we need to pay in order choose seats. We were able to choose our flights.

I like to book everything ourselves but this seemed to work for us.

Has anyone visited here? I wondered about the cost of the tours for the dredge and the Sled dogs. Any opinions if we should forgo Caribou crossings to stop here. Is the Sled dog tour better then just being able to see the puppies at Caribou crossing. I noticed they want you to book through the cruiseline however we are renting a Green Jeep-will they allow us to not book with the cruiseline? Any idea of cost, I have an email in to them but have not heard back yet.

We have rented from Green Jeep because Avis won't allow you to go to dyea.

Sorry, one more question.Is the Yukon suspension bridge worth it? We are doing a drive and hoping to have a few hours left to see Skagway. (12 hours in Port)

I wondered also the same questions. Is anyone able to comment on the best time for pictures at emerald lake? Should we go to dyea on the way out or wait until we come back.

I am thinking of doing the small boat in Tracy's arm.Will I be able to make early seating for dinner if I take the second boat at 2:30? Any thoughts if I want first or second boat?

My advice would be book sooner that later. We booked our hotel a year ago and paying half of what is posted now. (We booked directly with the hotel.)
