  1. I'm surprised they allowed guests to "cannonball" into the pool.  When I was in the Havana area on the Panorama, they wouldn't even allow guest to jump into the pool from the side, much less dive in.  I'm surprised people were allowed to play their personal music devices as well, that seems really invasive, we don't all like the same things, I would never presume to play my music in public in that way.  Sorry your experience was so negative.  The worst part of my Havana experience was the soot......

  2. From what I have been reading on social media, it looks as though they have not yet sailed at over 1/2 capacity.

You should be receiving your share code via email and on the website when you log in.  I never tried to find it on the app.

I am also a bariatric patient and fully intended to ask about half portions, but was lucky enough to connect with three young ladies who invited me to join them for dinner for most of the cruise, as we had planned the same venues on the same nights.  We ordered most of the menu at Extra Virgin and The Wake and shared everything, so I was able to try more than I thought I would be able to, made this foodie very happy!

  3. I ended up wearing something red just about every day, and dressing up a little for dinner every night, but there is no dress code of any kind, so you do you!   I brought a few fascinator headband/hats and wore them and got several compliments.  On scarlet night I had a red dress that had rhinestone shoulder straps and wore a fascinator hat and a black and white boa.  The weather took a turn so we didn't get to have the pool party, our scarlet night was in The Manor.  I bought red pajamas but there were PJ's of all sorts, some wore lingerie, some couples wore matching lounge wear.  My fave was a guy who looked like a big teddy bear 🙂

  4. Everything will be on the app when you board.  You can book Shore Things about 145 days before your cruise (perhaps sooner since you are in a suite), and your evening dining reservations 65 days (I think?) before your cruise), but almost everything else has to be booked on the ship.  A few exceptions are trivia games and some other odd things like prepping for the Scarlet Night party.  There is a lot of info on social media and their website.

  5. Just wear regular clothing TO the spa, for a salt scrub, I would go completely naked because otherwise the oils will stain your undergarments.  There will always be a sheet for modesty, that will be draped over whatever area of your body they are not working on.  They do not provide a robe.  WORDS OF ADVICE, before they lay a hand on you, tell them you are not interested in purchasing any products (unless you are?) but you realize they will give you a card of the products they used on you) to avoid the hard sell post-treatment.

  6. "Dr" Audrey is currently on the ship and I thought the show was entertaining.  It's not meant to be life advice, it's an adult comedy, tongue in cheek.  In March I participated in a very tame part of the show, there were a few parts that were more risque, but there were no body fluids exchanged and no clothing was removed.  I'm not sure what people found offensive in an adult venue, again, it's meant to be a comedy, not advice on how to live your life.  Participation is voluntary, and as others have mentioned, if you did not want to "play", you either said "no thank you" or sat in the balcony.

Is there an onboard spa service you absolutely love and feel like it’s worth the money? I’m going on my first solo cruise and I’m wanting to do a spa service.

I always get the "Tip To Toe" massage/facial combo when it's offered.  Just be sure to tell them you are not interested in purchasing any products before they lay a hand on you!  They will still want to give you a little card showing all of the products they used on you, and may want to recommend the Ionitherm treatment.  Otherwise you will get the hard sell and it totally ruins the relaxation achieved post-massage.

So sorry but just off the Magic in March and this month and practice was the same. On this months cruise there was close to 600 Platinum guests so i can see Carnival changing the tiers once again

I really wish there WAS a level between Platinum and Diamond!    Or current Platinum becomes Rose Gold?  Just kidding.....

Thanks for the info @LibratPDX. Do you happen to know if the $300 credit is per person or per room? Meaning, if 2 people took advantage of the deal and sailed in the same cabin, could they potentially get $600 off the cabin price?

That's a good question, but I assume it's per cabin, since they don't seem to book per person.  If you take a look at their prices, they are all quoted per cabin, not "per person double occupancy".

@snarfbeastWhat (if any) specials were they running for booking a future cruise while onboard? Thanks.

Whether you book on board or 60 days after debarkation, you get a $300 credit towards your next booking.

I was on the same cruise.  I attended the NSA show but I don't know if it was the same showing (since there are at least three per cruise).  I'm not sure what some people found offensive enough that it caused them to walk out.  It's meant to be a comedy, not a recipe for life.  I enjoyed it and participated on stage for a bit.  Nothing too risque, I was blindfolded and had to choose from four suitors based on their answers to the "Doctor's" questions.  The man I "chose" was there with his wife and I thanked her for "sharing" him for the bit, it's not as if we were going to escape somewhere together and hook up.  That is the idea some people seem to have gotten?

  12. Shore Things can be booked 120 days prior to your cruise, 135 days prior if you're a rock star.   Dinner reservations can be made 45 days before or 60 days for rock stars.  Thus the confusion in days....

Grog walk is a pub crawl hosted by some of the entertainment (happenings) cast. There is a $35 charge from memory, I didn’t do it.
Shot for shot is a cocktail class based around taking photos for social media in the Test Kitchen, there is a charge to cover the drinks. Think it’s $25 or 35.

We did something on Scarlet Lady last year I think is Star gazers. It was mythology and folk tales told by the hostess in the outdoor dock area at the rear of the boat. Really nice and chilled with the stories while looking up at the night sky and the wake below.

The Grog walk is $45 now, and the Test Kitchen cocktails were $45 as well......I could not drink them all, it was a lot!

It's better if you make a reservation for the shows but not always necessary.  For some shows they verified reservations, others they didn't.  It helped to be early to get better seating if nothing else.  If the app showed the show as "sold out" you could still get in a lot of the time because there are always "no shows".  My brief blurb on the shows - Ships in the Night IMO is a commentary about the rat race that is our busy lives.  Dual Reality is Us VS Them or Romeo/Juliet?  NSV is an adult comedy bit, I found it to be amusing and fun, some people got their drawers in a bunch and walked out but I'm not sure why.  The pseudo doctor discussed promiscuity to some degree but it's not as if it was a prescription for life, again, it was a comedy skit.  I was even on stage for one bit and got a coveted golden condom, ooohhh!   I hung out with "Doctor" Audrey after the VIP party, she's very sweet and funny.  I didn't make it to the UnnamedDancePartyThing but it sounded fun.  The Pajama Party on the first night is fun.  I loved WayOfTheWesley AKA The Diva and went to both sets of her shows, as well as bingo, which she hosted.

Wow thanks for all this information! Super helpful!

Do you know if you can book the shows on the app before your cruise? I'm 41 days out from sailing and I can book dinners only but not lunches, breakfast, or shows?

Just wondering if there's an issue with my app or all that waits till on board.

    Thanks!

You cannot book shows until  you are on the ship, but you can book things like trivia games and some spa things like Scarlet Night Makeover, etc.  And yes, you can book dinners, but not breakfast or brunch until you are on the ship.

  15. Other cruise lines have the same menus repeated most of the time throughout their entire fleets, so I'm surprised that's being mentioned.  As far as other issues go, IMO they are still tweaking their "product" and changing things based on feedback, but it takes time to make changes.
