  1. I was watching BBC1 Rip Off Britain Holidays the other day and the money expert said the only currencies worth buying in advance are dollars and euros, he said with all other currencies it's better to buy them in the country you're going to. I was surprised by this but I wonder if this just applies to if you're staying for a week or two and not just a day trip.

  2. Happy New Year,

Now we are in 2016 I am on the count down to our transatlantic cruise on Dream in April. I want to make sure I don't run out of clean clothes by the end of it so will probably have to use the laundry service. Does anyone have a copy of the price list for laundry service.

If you mean the laundry service where the cabin steward takes it away and brings it all back washed and pressed its really reasonable most things washed and ironed for just over a pound and an excellent service. Think there's a DIY laundry as well but not sure as never used it.

  3. Listening to the revised recommended alcohol guidelines on radio this morning - one (on average) drink per day is about it !!!

Sounds like fun if you are on holiday, especially AI !!!

LIFE'S JOURNEY IS NOT TO ARRIVE AT THE GRAVE

SAFELY IN A WELL PRESERVED BODY BUT RATHER

TO SKID IN SIDEWAYS, TOTALLY WORN OUT,

SHOUTING I'VE HAD A BLOODY GOOD TIME!!! [emoji3][emoji12][emoji2][emoji12]

  4. I went to see the dancing horses when we were in Koper but it was a bit of a let down as I thought I was going to see a show of them but it was just a wee bit of training and a tour around the stables with not much else.

Thanks Lucie14 will definitely give that a miss [emoji106]🏻

  5. [Another tip....there is a UK power socket beside the fridge down low, which we didn't see for most of the week.I also bought a Power Bin charger....you can charge up four items at once. It's a great idea, lent mine to my next door neighbour and she loved it as well,so much so that she bought her own.Bought on Amazon for (I'm sure, under £20)The name on the box is le touch.

Thanks for this tip sistermags very useful.

  6. The docking time usually refers to when you can leave the ship! But as we all know it doesn't always work out that way. I personally will be up early this time been three times and never made it yet! Its the late nights?

I know what you mean pensioncruiser I'm always completely knackered after a cruise - burning the candle at both ends BIG TIME lol [emoji485][emoji322][emoji41]

  7. I tend to leave my other half in bed and get up when daylight is showing on TV which we leave on the bridge camera at night so I won't miss the sail in to anywhere, especially Kotor and Venice, or any islands when in the Caribbean, which usually means I am up around 6am, but to me it is one of the nicest parts of the day wandering round, having a cuppa, watching the sun rise, watching a sail in. Quoted time is usually docking time.

    Gill.

Thanks Gill 6 sounds okay - it's anything before that I hate the sound of [emoji51]

  8. Working back we arrive at 0800hrs so I would estimate about 0600 sorry can't remember exact time but from what I recall the CD gave us a time last year, sail out is also very enjoyable with a bottle of bubbly!!

Hi pensioncruiser thanks for the reply. I thought it would be quite early but seeing the sail-in is the main thing I want to see on this cruise as I've visited Venice before for a long-stay. When it says on the itinerary 08.00 - 18.00 does that mean we dock at 8 or does that mean we can get off the ship at 8. I'm never sure about this - I should know by now!

  9. We used the coach from the quayside to Piran last May. It was €20 return and gave us a very interesting guide who explained about the history, geography, agriculture and economy of the area. We had about 2 hours in Piran. It was not a hoho bus as it went directly to Piran but passed through Portoroz. No-one got off at Portoroz.

The previous year DH and I used the local buses to Piran. It was less than €4 each way but for comfort, less stress (finding the bus stop was a nightmare), and a guaranteed seat, the extra cost was worth it.

    Thanks jakanne1 great info [emoji106]🏻

  10. We have been to Koper and had a pleasant stroll around the town and down to the promenade and marina. I believe there is now a HoHo bus from outside the port which goes to Piran and Portoroz with free time in one or both. We are going to try it this year. We have plenty time as not sailing till 11pm!

Wow thanks Sheila great info - when do you go? [emoji2]

  11. Try calling one of these UK numbers.

    New Bookings – 0203 451 2682..........Thomsons Cruise centre at Swansea ?

    • 0871 231 5938 (queries, book a holiday or check availability)
    • 0203 451 2725 (enquiries about existing bookings)
    • 0203 451 2725 (to make a payment)

I would use the 0203 ones first, much cheaper I suspect than the 0871 - and good luck.

Very useful numbers to keep - thanks WeeCountyMan - have taken screenshot [emoji106]🏻

  12. Has anybody been to this port of call? It is our first stop on our Adriatic Explorer cruise in June and what I'd like to know is whether Koper is nice to have a wander around or is it best to do the trip to Piran. Any advice very much appreciated [emoji106]🏻[emoji3]

    Thanks, Kay
