  1. Our cruise is Sat Nov27. We fly out on Thanksgiving day. Thanksgiving day is most likely lost due to a holiday. Friday Nov26 50-50 as some people take vacations. I ended up ordering test kits from emed.

CVS/Walgreens is not as easy as one thinks, due to making appts......and the they need to have enough kits on hand.

Carnival made it easy when they were going to test on site. Not sure why they failed and gave up.

When we flew to Cozumel July04 for 6 nights, for the return we needed a test to board the flight. The hotel took care of arranging the test, we waited for the results.

  2. Once when I had to use our trip insurance, the travel insurance desk secured the jet ambulance from Bonaire to Fort Lauderdale when I had a heart attack while docked in Bonaire.

For those who like to self insure, do you know exactly who to call? Yes there are medi-evac groups to join but I would suspect that like most of us we we choose to buy travel insurance or not and leave it at that.

My wife probably would have been more frantic without the assistance of the "travel desk 1-800 number"

  3. don't forget Medical Evacuation in addition to Medical Coverage.

That jet ambulance from Bonaire to Fort Laurderdale cost my travel insurance $25G. Not all private insurance covers out of country.

My private insurance would have paid but they dragged their feet in processing the claim so they went to the travel insurance.

Remember when traveling through the Caribbean, 3rd world countries and the local hospitals are not set up for trauma. I happened to have had a heart attack while docked in Bonaire.

I happened to have had the insurance bought through United Cruises, can't remember the name off the top of my head. It worked and it paid.

  4. We just came off of the May 20 sailing on the Breeze. We went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel in that order. Our formal nights were on the first sea Day (Monday 2nd night) and on Grand Cayman Day (Thursday 5th night). Yours may depend on your itinerary. We had fun and we loved the Steakhouse! We ended up in the Steakhouse on night 3 and 5, Italian on night 4. Anytime dining the other 4 nights. Happy cruising to you and your wife!

  5. I know it is a year away(2019) but, tell me how risky is it to leave Galveston on June 1st for a 5 day? We usually cruise in early April or early December. We will purchase insurance.

extremely low risk of fog.....no better or worse a chance of a hurricane than FL, AL or somewhere else along the Gulf Coast
