  1. You send a very well constructed letter to RCI.  It will be sent to their legal department where they may request more information or pictures and supporting documentation.   In your letter be clear as to what you expect compensation wise.  They will likely come back with a low ball offer.  Do not accept it.  Reply with your expectations.   They will respond.  You don’t necessarily need a lawyer.

  2.    Run away as fast as you can.   The most badly behaved bunch of kids I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with.  Entitled, spoiled rotten, drunk and disrespectful are the BEST things I could say about them.  The families merely seemed to support the behaviours.   The apples didn’t fall far from the rotten trees.   It’s obvious that ALL quince kids aren’t bad, we were possibly just unfortunate.

  3. My mother travels with her Pride GoGo Elite Traveller which is 19.5 inches wide.  We have never had a problem with getting into regular balcony cabins on RCI and Celebrity.  We always seem to be able to tuck it under the desk.  It is easier if the bed(s) are closer to the balcony but we manage either way.  We do not ever leave it in the hallway.

I would like to know what a TA's commission rate is to be able to give all this stuff.  Does it vary based on total fare? Type of cabin?

I contacted one with a major Web presence who told me it is prohibited by their contracts with cruiselines to rebate the commission to passengers, so she offered me a total of only $50 to transfer 3 cruises to her (total fares of $10,000).

Maybe I should have asked for strawberries instead?

This isn't about what cruise line you want to go on it is about the loyalty programme. Personally I really am not bothered about what cruise line you prefer (no need for the Capital Letters to shout at me) I just wanted to share what I think is a good idea that other cruise lines could use.

Just to add, we sail with Celebrity and P&O and are pretty loyal to both for different reasons.

I suggest that you read the thread before posting random comments in future ……. just saying. Have a good weekend

Just like you weren’t yelling when you typed “STARTING,” I wasn’t yelling at anyone either.  And because I treasure your opinions, I will be sure to heed your advice.  Have a good weekend.

We really like the P&O loyalty programme in that you get 5% off future onboard spend and excursions as a STARTING point. At the next level it is 7.5% and the highest 10%. It saves us a lot of money and it means that people save on what they normally use rather than having perks they don't really want ...

Personally I would PAY P&O NOT to go on another one with them...

I’m frankly so in need of a vacation by the time we go that I am in the mind of Mickey Flanagan’s comedy routine when he talks about doing “f all.”   It’s really funny.

  8. Flying with a scooter is usually not a big deal.  You do have to call the airline and register the details of the scooter...make/model, weight, type of battery (sealed, dry cell).

Occasionally there is is a bit of a delay at the destination.  You must specify that you want it delivered to the gangway.

It’s the lack of independence that is the limitation of a wheelchair versus a scooter.

  9. I highly recommend renting a scooter.   You do not need an accessible cabin.  The scooter gets delivered to the cabin which is where you leave it at the end of the cruise.  The ones they rent (usually Pride GoGo Elite) fit through the doors just fine.  Yes, you do need to find a place tuck it in.  I have found you can push it under the desk a bit.  I rented one for my mom and after the first rental I ended up buying her one as it made such a difference for her.   We have never needed an accessible cabin.

Remember that renting a wheelchair is OK, BUT IT NEEDS PUSHING and that would be you.  It gets very tiring on carpet and it limits independence of both people.

I just went to the coop site to purchase the tickets for the underground tour and panoramic view. None of the dates in July 2019 were showing as available. I’m guessing those dates aren’t opened yet for booking.

I seem to recall that tickets are released either 60 or 90 days out.  It says that somewhere on the coop website.
