  1. Does that look anything like yours beed2010?

This is exactly what our cabin looked like on the Enchantment (4/1/2013)

Bed was in the same place, cabin 8604. Loved the extra space, hated the shower curtain. Couldn't have been a better location. Right by the elevators, steps. We did hear music from the Centrum but it wasn't a problem.

There was plenty of room for our luggage right next to the dresser. It was a nice empty space between dresser and closet.

I'm going to try and book it again on the Grandeur.

  2. Yes there will be 2 Coronas on the counter. They will not be cold.

No problem, we just take them to any bar and exchange for cold ones.:D You can ask your cabin attendant to get a bucket of ice for you but we don't bother.

    Congrat's on getting to D+

We;re D+ 443 pts. and only got one beer last trip. Everyone sure we're supposed to get 2 before I call RCL.

    (Patti will know !)

  3. There will be 4 of us arriving at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, but we are cruising out of Miami. Does anyone have suggestions of a good, affordable and reputable company to get us from point A to point B?

ridesas.com Steve SAS transportation. Great company and one of the best prices around. We have used them for years and highly recommend them.

  4. YOU DO NOT WANT TO TAKE I95 THROUGH NYC!

GPS tends to take you on I95 through NYC - IMO not the best route - big scary trucks through the South Bronx. I'm assuming since you live in Rhode Island, you will be coming down I95. You want to cut over to the Merritt Parkway South at either Milford CT or to the Hutchinson River Parkway South (same as the Merritt) at I287 just after you cross the CT-NY border. When you get to New Rochelle, stay in the left lane for the Cross County Parkway (exit 15). Stay in the center left lane which will become the left lane and go to the end taking the Saw Mill River Parkway South. At the NYC line this becomes the Henry Hudson Parkway. Pay the $4 toll and stay on the left to take the exit to the George Washington Bridge staying in the rightmost exit lane. Follow the signs to I80 West and the NJ Turnpike. Take the turnpike south and follow the signs to the Lincoln Tunnel - this will take you onto the eastern extension of the turnpike. (Note: not a big deal if you miss this turn - the roads merge further south). When you get to the Lincoln Tunnel area, don't get off but stay on the turnpike south and follow the signs to exit 14A Bayonne. Go straight across the toll plaza and get on the ramp that curves up and left. Stay on the right and bear right at every opportunity until you hit the traffic light at route 440. Make a left, stay left and make the first left. This road (it's a new road and I've forgotten the name - Gold something I think) merges with Port Terminal Blvd to the pier.

Can you recommend a hotel near the port of Bayone. I'm sure you have done this many times and I'm sorry for asking again.

We stayed at the Springhill suites last time and used Independent traveler for the shuttle.

    Your suggestions valued, thank you.

  5. Patty...that's not RCI transportation, maybe that's why

Mimi...try stay123 or trinity reservations dot com

usually the fairfield inn, country inn and/or springhill suites are there, with park n flys cheaper than booking direct. One of my peeps (138east/carol) uses them often, and a lot of peeps on my roll call have done that too...

THEN..book a car service such as http://www.blackexecutivecars.com or http://www.trulimo.com to get you to and from the port...

stay away from the wyndham and worst (best) western and comfort suites..

NOT the greatest places and/or areas. Granted, the EWR "resort" area isn't pretty:rolleyes: but there ARE good and lousy places..

    Great information Meg.

I did book with Trinity for Springhill Dec. 10. Then found out booking direct was cheaper so I cancelled the res. It's been two days and so far they have not responded even after two emails and a phone call.

Did you ever have a problem with them getting back to you?

    thanks mimi

  6. Mimi,

Yes, Meg's advise is right on. There are about 20 or more couples staying at the Springhill for our November cruise. They all booked thru Trinity and have free parking for the entire trip and a really good rate. There's so many of them that they started by booking a shuttle but now they have booked an entire bus to take them to the port and pick them up again. Everyone sent one person the money and she arranged the transportation and paid the bus company already. It's cheaper than paying for parking. I had considered it but I know with working I won't be ready to leave that night and stay at the hotel.......I'll still be packing......LOL But I am still giving it some thought.

    Patty

Thanks for all the good info Meg and Patty. I'm looking into the Springhill. Will let you know.

  7. Thanks Patty and Meg.

Looking out the window, about 4" of snow on the ground, ME thinks the bus isn't the way to go. what if we get a bad storm and are held up. The bus leaves late and we know the ship isn't going to wait. (well maybe the RCL bus would)

I'm going to check our thread and see if anyone is staying at a near by hotel that we can leave our car reasonably

We're only an hour and a half from the port but if weather is bad, I'd sure rather be closer to the port. Liz will have to be in the kennel the day before anyway so going to a hotel may be the way to go.

Hmmmmm, ok gals, got any other ideas. LOL

  8. the wife and i were at a crown & anchor meet the captain function. Formal night, everyone dressed nice, free drinks etc. Upscale event. We were seated in a lounge type area with two other couples making small talk. There were hors devours and one of the men had been eating crabcake or something like that. He took a bite and returned his plate to the coffeetable. One of the ladies (total stranger to the man) says "you aint gonna finish that? I love those" and proceeds to grab it and finish eating it. It was gross at the time, but we still laugh about it years later.

    lmao!!!
