It's been longer than I even expected since we have been on an RCL sailing, 16+ years since we were last on one of their ships in October of 2005. Since we have no experience with the mega-ships we aren't worried about missing out on anything on this smaller ship and have actually preferred smaller over larger when we have been on other cruise lines.
So from embarkation day to leaving, what are some tips and tricks people have for our cruise? We'll be a family with an elementary aged child sailing during spring break week with a balcony cabin. We expect it to be chaotic so are prepared for families and kids everywhere. We have been on many cruises so we aren't new to the whole scene, just haven't been on RCL since 2005 so not sure how things work anymore or what to expect.
-
Not sure if anything has changed or not so wondering if things are like they used to be? From what I remember there were taxi's inside the cruise terminal area and then there were taxis out on the road that line up. I think, it's been a long time so it's kind of hazy. We used to go to Le Galion and I can't remember what we did. What's the best way to get about the island now and to make sure someone comes back to get us when we want to return? Is Uber a thing down there or is it local taxis only?

Has anyone just bid ridiculously low for the heck of it and received a nice upgrade?

My march 12 2023 oasis out of Miami is 1k more expensive than I could book the month before. I'm told we are hitting spring break.
Yep, March 12 week is spring break for many Florida schools so it's peak cruise time for everyone in the area. I am expecting the ships to be packed with families and kids that week.
We could leave our place at 2am and be down in Miami in under 4 hours, as long as something doesn't blow up on the highway or there is a major disaster traffic shouldn't be an issue. The ship's departed sailing time is 4:30 pm, if it takes 12 hours to get from the Orlando area to Miami then we have a whole different kind of problems on our hand, with the hotel prices maybe we will just drive.

Can someone let me know if this will work if I made my initial deposit on another card? The offer text says:
DETAILS
Get a one-time $350 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $1,000 in one or more transactions on reservations booked at royalcaribbean.com, by phone at 1-866-562-7625 or by contacting your preferred travel advisor by 12/31/2021. See terms for exclusions.
So does this mean I can pay $1,000 on my eligible Amex card for my already existing reservation and get the credit or did I need to book with the Amex to begin with?

Chiming in that we just booked a cruise as well and did not get any kind of invoice in email. We received the new one sentence email telling us we made a deposit and that's it.
I also just did the 4-2-1 thing and got what I expected to get when we booked the first time. Thanks! Weird they make you do this now.

We'll be driving in and looking to see if any local hotels have affordable rates with the ability to leave your car and get a shuttle to the hotel.
I checked out a couple but the weekend rates are all $400 to $500 for a Friday to Saturday stay. Does anyone have any personal recommendations if anyone has ever done this before? I want to go the day before so we wont run a risk of missing the cruise because of the highways being unimpededly closed or filled with traffic.

60 days since March 23 when I got my confirmation email that my request for a refund was being processed. I know it says up to 90 days, so another month, but wondering if anyone who was in the first wave of cancellations have received anything back yet.
With the way the news about NCL keeps on going I have considered this a complete sunk cost I might never see again, but still hopeful I get a surprise paycheck one day on my credit card.
-
Looks like confirmation emails are indeed being sent out, I just got mine after filling out the form at 8am this morning. So the system is just running slow.
Thank you!
Your refund request form was submitted successfully. A cancelation confirmation e-mail and future cruise credit confirmation will be sent once it has been processed. Please allow 90 days for us to process your request.

With no confirmation or anything of the sort other than a pop up window, I can see how this will go over very well once thousands of people submit the same exact form.

"Guests who are booked on voyages with embarkation dates from March 13 to March 17, 2020 are asked to contact their travel professional or contact us for more information."
Has anyone been able to contact them or their travel agent for more information? They were closed when I called so I am going to give it a shot tomorrow morning.

Unless you are sailing this weekend, I would not inundate the low-wage call center workers. It's bound to just cause frustration.
I do feel badly for anyone who is traveling today to try to board a ship tomorrow.
Supposed to leave Sunday. Luckily I am local and don't need to really travel but others are flying in without getting any heads up.
So with no notice people who do not follow websites like this have no idea what is going on.
-
I wonder why they haven't updated their website. NCL.com still is acting like cruises are still on and as such no travel agencies have been notified.
-
Amex does not know this yet, tried to cancel and they contacted NCL and were told it's still on and tried to upsell the FCC instead. So I need to wait to get the cash.

Sunday, so will we actually go? Who knows! I just didn't want to be in an inside room. No idea if this is a good price or not.

Dawn 7 day sailing.
$200 pp, 2 people, $400 total.
5th floor Inside to 10th floor balcony.
Was just accepted.

It’s not weather responsible for cancelling activities here on Breakaway. Weather is beautiful. We were told that the glow party is cancelled. They are in the midst of making changes due to the corona virus threat/fear.
How much longer out there do you have? Is the kids club still open?
-
I wonder if they will start shutting down the kids clubs too...

According to @zippydo1 over on the thread For Those of Us NOT Cancelling and Sailing Soon ships at sea, at least the Breakaway, are closing up free items in the name of safety while leaving items like the casino open to make money with. If we get more reports in this thread can be updated but here is what we know so far:
Breakaway
Closed
- Sports Court
- Mini-Golf
- Ping Pong
Cancelled
- Awesome 80’s deck party
If anyone is on other sailings or hears of similar stories please keep us updated.

Would be cheaper to figure out how to jump overboard in that case and just let the coast guard bring you to a land based government facility.

I wouldn't lose anything, the way I see it I spent $1800 on the cruise. Now when I do the same room type for the same ship its $1880 for the room and drinks and dining. So I would spend a little more but thats fine for all the extras.
-
The policy says you can get your FCC if you cancel now, so could I do that and rebook the same cruise right away? The final price is now the same with open bar and dining added on, tax and all that included.

Can you say a little more about this one? We have done Norwegian for the past decade so this concept doesn't exist to me anymore. For the main dining hall is it the same seat every night or how does that work? We didn't pick a dinner time, we did whatever that third option is that sounded more like you choose each day. Do you need to reserve a time each day or do you just show up? If you don't want to go to the dining room are there other non-upcharge options to have dinner more spur of the moment?
