  1. Viking probably has many convoluted arrangements with their air partners.

For example, paid extra for “premium economy” to Iceland from the US, with a return from Norway.  This was above free air.

US flights are on Delta in Comfort +, transatlantic on Icelandair in Saga Class, returning from Europe on Delta in Premium Economy.

For my premium economy flights, Icelandair has me in their Saga Class - Viking did not call it business.

I was not given any alternatives on MVJ when Viking booked nor ticketed my flights.

Very satisfied for the $1,099 I paid.

Best I’ve found on my own is nearly $4,000

  2. I would love to cash upgrade to a Penthouse Junior or Explorer Suite, but I'm afraid any offer will be sent to my travel agent first.  I'll watch my email and contact my TA two weeks prior to departure.

Seems that any offers arrive seven to ten days prior to crusing.

Would be nice if one could bid on unsold cabins like other cruise lines.

  3. This was posted in December 2022 on Flyertalk by someone flying out of Dulles - IAD.

"And, as a final note to pass on, they state the 'Carry-On' bag should not exceed 7.8 inches in width. I measured their baggage checking cage at the airport, the actual dimensions are..."

    Carry-On : 22" x 10"
    Personal Item: 16" x 6"

BTW Almost every international flight on Icelandair includes one checked bag.

  4. Opened at Noon.  Suggestion to Viking: be able to add your credit card info to your account.  Copy and paste were annoying.

I booked EVERYTHING I wanted, except one.  I will check MVJ (My Viking Journey) every time I'm online.

Too bad someone hasn't created an app like Mousewatcher or Expertflyer to let you know in real-time when bookings open.

  5. I dislike any kind of body wash, and bring my own soap for the shower.

On Rotterdam VI there was only liquid soap at the sink.  I asked our steward for a bar of soap.  He dropped off a full-size bar of Ivory!  Guess they don't have the small paper-wrapped bars anymore.

I tipped extra since that may have come from his personal stash.
