  1. Thank you both for the replies.

We will each bring on a bottle at embarkation and then check the selection.

If it makes sense we'll purchase more while in Port.

    $7 a beer seems reasonable.

One other question, can you carry on water bottles or soft drinks?

    Thanks again.

  2. Good Day,

We will be sailing on The Rotterdam in October.

I was looking to pre-order some wine and noticed the online pricing seems very high - and when compared to alcohol it seem ridiculous.

The cheapest wine is $45-$50 per bottle, while a Litre of Vodka or Rum is $40!

Beer is $42 a 6 pack for American Beer, which we don't drink.

My question is - are the prices for wine any better while onboard?  And is there a better selection?

Are they other beers available besides American flavours?

I understand we are able to bring a bottle of wine on at Embarkation.

Can we also purchase a bottle while in Ports?  or will they confiscate?

    Thank you for any input.

  3. Does anyone know which port the Rotterdam will be docking at (October 12th, 2019)?

Apparently there are several depending on ship size?

Trying to figure out if we can walk off ship and tour the city on our own...

    Thank you.

  4. I see you can pre order wine, etc from HAL Indulgences.

Just wondering if I can have it delivered on a specific date on the cruise?

My husband's birthday takes place on the 5th day of our cruise and I'd like to surprise him.

    Is preordering the best way?

I am guessing I could also order once onboard, but it would be charged to our 'shared' account.   I'd prefer he did not see the charge ....LOL or have to pay for it! 🙂

  5. Good Day, just wondering if any one has opinions on the AA Rear Facing Balcony cabins on the Rotterdam?

We are looking at the 7th Floor Navigation Deck.   Is there issues with people above looking down on the balcony?

6th Floor looks better but it is sold out...

    Any other thoughts or opinions?

The other choice would be a B or AA on the side....

    Thanks for any input.

  6. Because of the location of the port area, most of the cruise

lines run shuttles to two large shopping malls. Callao is a large working port. At the malls there will

be lots of taxi drivers and private tour operator there.

If you know where you want to go it is easy. We always

walk through the mall to a different opening, again always

taxis waiting to take you somewhere. You arrange by the

location the price. It is always much cheaper outside the main

drop off area. Be sure to take a photo of the entrance y.ou are using as the mall can be confusing. You arrange price

by the location, rather than a meter ride. Traffic is very

bad in Lima, and do take this into consideration when DYI

tour. You will need to return to the mall to get back to your

ship. It can take between 20 to 40 minutes to get to the malls

Do you know what Mall these shuttles go to?

Trying to get my bearings about getting around Lima.

    Thanks.

  7. We are arriving in San Antonio, December 23rd. We have a Transfer with Tour booked for the 23rd from San Antonio to Santiago.

Our flight does not depart until 9:00 pm on December 24th.

This means we have the Evening of the 23rd and most of the day on the 24th to see Santiago.

My question is - should we book a hotel at the Airport and then set out from there for the day on the 24th?

Or, book a hotel 'downtown' the 23rd, tour around the 24th, then make our way to the airport in the evening?

I am not familiar with Santiago, so not sure where the 'tourist' area would be for us to stay?

    Thanks.

  8. Their "map" is somewhat goofy. It has that yellow line, but it also reads that cruise passengers should walk to stop 2. I think that I will send an email for clarification.

    Jim

JimKaren did you find any info on how to get to the Stop #2? It seems like quite a bit of a walk.... but not sure how much I would trust a taxi... Thx.

  9. I am asking to local tour operator if they are available to a tour to Isla Damas to see penguins

Another posibility is going to " Isla de los Pinguinos " in front of Cachagua beach , about 80 Km north from Valparaiso,,,,You take a boat from Zapallar beach and the fishermen make a round trip to the island to see penguins,,,if you need more information you could contact privatedriversantiago@hotmail.com,,,best regards

Thank you, I did locate a local tour operator but they have advised me that due to the distance from the Port, it is too far for us to be back before 15:00. I guess I'll have to miss the Penguins this trip!

  10. Any information on the Lima HOHO Bus.

We are visiting on NCL... do they provide any transportation out of the Port area?

What is the best way to make our way to the HOHO Bus Route?

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks.
