Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Seeing the error message this may seem crazy but are you using the app on your phone or iPad? I see similar error messages when trying to do anything through the princess app on my tablet but on my phone everything works fine, all devices and apps are up to date.
  2. Thanks for posting and looking forward to the updates, we are going on Enchanted in August, our first Princess cruise. Have a great time!
  3. It says it terms that the 15 drinks limit is alcoholic beverages only.
  4. I have been looking at booking an NCL cruise and when I get to the section where they allow you to choose a departure airport, Toronto (YYZ) doesn't show up as an option although every other major Canadian airport shows up. Anyone have an idea what's up with this? Thanks for any feedback.
  5. This is old thread, but the only caveat to reserving an Uber if you are rushing to catch a flight it is difficult to predict when you will get off the ship, I would be worried about the driver leaving on me if I am late Or I get off earlier than anticipated and am stuck waiting for a reserved Uber when I could leave earlier or take a Taxi. WHAT OTHER FEATURES MAKE UBER RESERVE SPECIAL? - Upfront Driver Assignment: When possible, a driver will be assigned to your request before the pickup time, rather than shortly before the ride. - Arrive Early & Wait: Drivers will arrive several minutes before your departure time, and will wait for 5 minutes (Economy products) to 15 minutes (Premium products), waiting time that is included in your fare.
  6. On our recent 3 day cruise we had the UDP and my daughter who is 12 was charged the kids rate. She was able to order, no issues, from the regular menu and was never handed the kids menu, except once(below). In Chopped we originally ordered the kids minute steak (the menus were on the app- thinking it would be a more tender, thinner cut), the server insisted we should order the petite filet as it was a way better steak and he would butterfly it for her. in fact the only weird thing regarding UDP/kids menu was in Hooked; the maitre-D handed her the kids menu and reminded us that us if she wanted to order from adult menu he would charge her full price. When our waiter came by he asked why we were using the kids menu and when I mentioned what the maître-d said he sort of rolled his eyes and said they never do that, please order whatever you like. In fact in all the specialty restaurants they were practically asking us to order more items to ‘ cover the table’.
  7. Is ultra-spacious ocean view higher category than a balcony? If so I wouldn’t be that happy either!
  8. We were on the same 3 day cruise on the backend of a B2B. I will comment on the MDR. First the servers all do an amazing job and work really hard. As well, the food was fine and perfectly acceptable as long as your expectations are for above average/good quality (maybe over salted) and well presented variety of dishes, NOT near fine dining. Can't imagine how crazy it is in the kitchen. Although we had UDP during the 3 day cruise during the prior 4 day cruise the MDR definitely seemed understaffed and more hectic than expected during both breakfast and dinner. For dinner we were at early seating(5:30) and consistently we would be near 2 hour mark before we finished dessert; we got our orders in quick but the time between courses was sloow. Probably wasn't helped by the insanely long lineup of people every night expecting My Time Dining (supposed to be 6:45-9PM) meant Drop by Anytime Dining. During breakfast we never saw the pastry person walking around to each table offering pastries during breakfast, from what I recall that is sort of the norm, that is even what our server told us at breakfast day 1 was to "wait for the person going around with pastries" who never showed up. On another day (day 2) the poor server at breakfast got confused when I ordered the waffles and chicken and he thought I had the wrong menu (it was a brunch sea day so MDR offered breakfast and lunch items). He later made similar mistake at the table next to us when someone ordered Potato Leek soup and he at first said no before double checking the menu. Poor folks seemed understaffed.
  9. We just got off Navigator of the seas this morning(Monday) at San Pedro for our 11:40am WestJet flight LAX to YYZ We walked off at around 7:30, went through immigration and went to the medium/pickup area in front of Berth 92 (7:40) and called an Uber from there. A little confusing as if we tried the Uber app earlier inside the terminal it kept picking spots outside the parking lot for pickup. But it worked fine once we were actually standing in the pick up area. It took about 10 minutes more for the Uber to arrive, we were at LAX terminal 2 at 8:41. There was a major traffic jam where we changed from 110 to 405 and again when we exited near sepulveda that slowed us down quite a bit. The total Uber ride was 50 minutes, 60$. We got our boarding passes at around 8:55(after a potty break and there was no one was in line at WestJet) walked over to terminal 3 (9:00) and with TSA precheck we were through to our crazy crowded gate area by 9:08am , nearly 2 hours before boarding. So things worked well for us and we had plenty of time to spare but just FYI, we normally would never get a flight before Noon or so but based on advice from folks on this forum we decided on this 11:40am flight, the alternative was a late afternoon flight with a connector in DTW with a 2.5 hour layover.
  10. We just got off Nav of the seas (Monday) at the first berth with self walk off and was through immigration at 7:40 am and did not see any cabs. We went to the middle pick up area to call our Uber and waited about 10 mins for Uber. While waiting I did hear someone from the inside curb talk in a radio like voice what I thought was something about “ we need some taxis…” about 5 minutes later 3 cabs went by to the far end of the pier. I saw a couple take off running from the pick up area towards the cab but no idea wether they were successful or not. Once we were in our Uber we drove by the taxi area at the far end of the pier and there were some people milling about but no cabs. Overall seemed. like a lot of people milling about but not much pick up happening.
  11. FWIW we just got off Navigator of the seas this morning(Monday) and we walked off at around 7:30, went through immigration and went to the medium/pickup area in front of Berth 92 (7:40) and called an Uber from there. A little confusing if we tried the Uber app earlier inside the terminal as it kept picking spots outside the parking lot for pickup. It took about 10 minutes more for the Uber to arrive, we were at LAX terminal 2 at 8:41. There was a major traffic jam were we changed from 110 to 405 and again when we exited near sepulveda, otherwise the trip would have been sooner. The total Uber ride was 50 minutes, 60$.
  12. Hello does anyone have updated info on where and how Uber pickups from Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro berth 92? We are on a B2B and was playing with the Uber app during turnaround day and doing a pretend booking and the Uber app kept choosing a pickup location from the main road outside the cruise terminal instead of inside the terminal area. Should we wait until we exit to call the Uber and does uber pick up directly outside the terminal or do we have to get back to the main road? Or if there is a taxi line that would be just as good. We have to really move fast due to an earlier flight than we would like. thanks
  13. Thanks for all the info folks, being familiar wit( the process will help us in our planning and knowing what to expect. We have the UDP just for the second leg of the B2B so are looking forward to that trying out all the seafood that we can!
  14. We are doing our first B2B or Consecutive cruise on the upcoming Navigator of The seas cruise (Aug 15 -4 day/Aug 19-3 day). A few questions I haven't been able to see an answer for in the forums. 1)As each cruise is less than 6 days, do you think we will need a covid test at some point as the total trip is 7 days(we are all vaccinated)? Any guesses? 2) Are there any special procedures or notification we should tell RCL as these are 2 separate reservation # to let them know we are on a B2B? which leads to... 3) We are currently in same room both cruises (unless we get a Royal Up bid accepted on the 4 day). Would we be required to disembark(and pack luggage) and re-embark later or would there be some expedited/easier process for consecutive cruisers? thanks gurus.
