I don't miss the little "reminders" (begging) that occurred when it came to the last few days of a cruise. I also don't miss the in cabin surveys and the hints that "unless you mark this question 5 stars I won't get my tips".

I have never had that on any of my cruises, I'm not saying it didn't happen .

  2. As you have to enable flight mode it disables the hotspot option, so you can not share it unfortunatly, but it is really easy to swap devices quickly. A travel router will work, I have been told, if you have to use multiple devices on one connection.

Well, my wife and I have just watched "Strictly" here in the UK.  "Dancing wirh the stars" I think in the US. A 135 minute show (it is a live show). Two bottles of wine, plus what we drank for dinner. Not a problem.

15 drinks spread over a day is not that much for Europeans, but Americans in my experience have a different tolerance level.

I used to work for an Irish company that exported to the US. Bringing US customers to Ireland was a fraught experience. Three pints of Guiness before dinner, and my customers were off to bed, and it was only 19:00 !

I agree, 15 over the day when on holiday I will easily reach, especially when most of the bottled beer is half a pint

...  I cannot even imagine anyone having 15 booze/coffee drinks a day and I sure would not want to be around those that max out.

The 15 limit is for alcohol only, coffee, water and soft drinks are unlimited

IF you drink. Not interested in booze, wine, sodas, "free" coffee card. So, Plus fare doesn't work for us at $40/day/pp. I priced out one that was $20/day/pp (for a short time), but TA said our category was "full" & couldn't do it.

But if you do drink booze, wine, sodas, coffee and use wifi it's a bargain.

It seems that @dwhe is correct.  A little further down on that Samsung web page it says:

    "Wi-Fi tethering

Many Galaxy devices also enable Wi-Fi sharing. Although typically a mobile hotspot will be used when you don’t have Wi-Fi access, there may be instances where your device is connected to Wi-Fi and you want to share that connectivity to other devices. One benefit of Wi-Fi sharing via your phone is that you do not have to directly share the original Wi-Fi access point’s password. To do this, go into the options menu at the top right and turn on Wi-Fi Sharing."

Again, this confusion and contradictory information is enough reason to avoid encouraging people from using their phone to expand their onboard connectivity.

    Thank you Daniel.

This is the correct answer...the phone must communicate directly with the carrier, not "hopping" via an intermediate Wi-Fi signal.

I'm not sure what you mean but I can assure people that my Galaxy S21, and all my S series phones before that, are capable of sharing a hot spot via wifi or mobile (cellular) data.

You do not have to be connected directly to your carrier.

I took out my SIM card and connected to my home wifi then used it as a hot spot to connect my laptop via the phones SSD, hopefully I will be able to do the same on the ship in 10 days time.

I apologise if I have misunderstood but it is getting confusing.

Being able to share a wi-fi connection is a fairly unusual feature.

    Not impossible, but rare...

On all my Samsung Galaxy S range phones I have been able to share wifi without people having to log on, they just connect to the SSD

  9. My phone can use a mobile (cellular) data connection or any WiFi connection as a hot spot, in theory I should be able to use my ships WiFi connection as a hotspot. I will try it out in 10 days time and let everyone know if it works, but I see no reason why it should not.

With the Medallion only allowing you one device with free internet, does anyone know if I can use my phone as a hot spot for my laptop? Would I be able to do something like a Teams or Webex meeting with the hit spot?

As clueless2 said, there is no reason why you can't use the WiFi hotspot on your phone to connect your laptop to the internet. In fact, some people take travel routers to do the same thing.
