  1. We had the same thing happen on Grand to Hawaii in mid-April. Colo Cruiser, is this the one you were thinking of?

We were almost to the Golden Gate Bridge when we slowed and turned around, went under the Bay Bridge, and had a tug pick up a passenger that had a heart attack.

A helicopter rescue would be a last resort. Risky and expensive, and would probably not be attempted unless it was absolutely necessary. We went way past the Bay Bridge. I assume the tug took the passenger to shore and he/she was then taken to SF General Hospital which is somewhat nearby.

  2. I did both on Freedom last year and liked them both and if I was going to do just one I would say Portifino just for that seafood skewer. I loved it!

^^^ This! We did the Portofino Wine Dinner Series on Freedom and the GF had the seafood skewer substituted in since she doesn't eat red meat. To this day, she says that's one of the best meals she's ever had. The presentation alone is really something.

  3. Check and see if one of the corner aft D1s is available...they are double the size, almost the size of a junior suite. I think the cabin numbers are 1400 and 1700. We did our family of four in one of these and it was no problem!

Go and have a good time!

Definitely doable and comfortable in either of those rooms with the full size sleeper sofa. Still only one bathroom though. Lots of closet space and big vanity.

  4. Ahhhh, the sea days are just the best! I could sit on the balcony for weeks just watching the ocean go by. The GF goes off and does what she does and comes back to find me with a cocktail on the balcony. I love long stretches at sea.

We did Hawaii on Grand in April. As far as price drops go, we self-book and check every couple of days. Even after final payment, Princess was able to give us the $400pp discount. We lost $50pp OBC but it was still a big win obviously.

  5. We never actually took the sheets off to look, but C743 had a great mattress last month. It was a pillow-top style. We slept on it for two weeks and loved it - no complaints whatsoever.

Much better than Star, a year prior, where we saw them loading new mattresses on board while we were in our last port (San Diego) on the Mex Riv itinerary. That mattress was less that great.

  6. All kidding aside it is 11:43 PM and we are still in port with no signs of movement ( no one manning the lines) . I am actually impressed with the attitude of the passengers I have encountered so far . I haven't heard what the British would call moaners. Hopefully we will make Grand Turk and the trip will be fun.
