They are free to use and they are located by the lap pool underneath the Sanctuary. We were on Grand last month and found all the pools to be very comfortable...especially the covered pool.
-
The alcohol package was available on Grand on the 4/13-4/28 Hawaii voyage.

I'll "4th" the Bernards Tour on St. Maarten - those guys are awesome! And if there's a lot of ships in St. Thomas on that particular day, maybe take a ferry or cheap ship transpo over to St. John. We did that last time and had a fantastic day.

This thread makes me want to fly to Vegas next weekend. Last time I was there, I got free drinks just for standing near the roulette table.

I am not getting much chance to be online ( way too busy) but wanted to check in and say that we are on the Grand to Hawaii right now and everything is wonderful. There always seems to be comments going around about wear and tear, etc., but we are not noticing that at all, and are having great food and service everywhere!
Aloha
We were on the last voyage and agree that the ship is in great shape. Have a great cruise!

Thanks for the picture.
My pleasure - enjoy your cruise!!
We were in C743 on the Star for 23 days in South America. As others have posted, it is quiet and the extra "notch" on the balcony gives you a partial wake view. We had wonderful views of the glaciers in the Beagle Channel as we cruised slowly through!Ah, "notch" is a better way of describing it. We really loved it. The GF kept her chair in that notch the whole cruise as her tanning spot. It's great to have the extra square footage and the much longer railing. When we do Alaska again, we'll have to be in one of these two rear Caribe cabins for the covered/uncovered advantage as well as the extra space. It's also nice only having one next door neighbor, being close to the emergency stairwell, etc.
Perfect for reading trashy magazines :p

Hi greg--
I just upgraded to C742 (on the other side of C743) from an obstructed ocean view on the grand for our upcoming alaska cruise May 17.
Mostly importantly' date=' how was your mattresses? . . I know the aloha and baja decks on the Grand got new ones last fall (eg Oct 2013) -- but not sure if all the docks got new ones. Sometimes, the mattresses on Princess cruises are HORRIBLE.[/quote']
Hi Lisa,
Nice upgrade! Our mattress was great. It was the 'pillow-top' style. Wasn't lumpy or anything - I think you'll be pleased. When we were on Star in late '12 we had the old style mattress and that was not so great.

How was the cabin, we were hoping for quiet and not to much traffic. We just booked it yesterday for Alaska, round trip from Seattle.
That's exactly what you'll get. We loved the location - nice and quiet. Not too close or too far from the elevators. Since it's the last cabin, the balcony is larger than a standard Caribe balcony. You get an extra little 'corner' area. I'll try to post a picture of it when I get home from work tonight. I think it would be a great cabin for Alaska!

Just thread-jacking real quick to say hi to to Ellipooh :) We were a four doors away from each other. Sad to have to get off the ship today!
Edit: our standard mattress was very comfortable.

Has anyone recently sailed on the Grand in C743, we are considering that balcony room for an Alaskan cruise? Thank you.
As a matter of fact, we slept there last night - just got off Grand this morning. Let me know if you have any questions about C743 :)
-
We're on Grand right now and (nice) jeans are very much standard in the dining room :)
-
We stopped again a had a tug pull starboard side with a wheelchair on deck. Guess we were picking up our guys.
-
Still have the armed Coast Guard escort?????
Hope the medical emergency person will be ok.
Yep. Still one CG gun boat starboard aft.
Edit: now I see three boats and there's a helicopter hovering above us.
-
Okay. They just announced that we transferred the passenger to another boat. We're turning to head out under the Bay Bridge and then the Golden Gate Bridge.
-
Hangin' a right turn now.
-
So are you heading back? Looks like your sitting still at the moment. Enjoy the cruise. I love her we took our first cruise on her in Oct.
There's at least two Coast Guard gun boats (cool) starboard aft and we're moving very slowly inside the Bay Bridge. No announcements. Conspiracy theories flying from balcony to balcony LOL.
-
Looks like she is heading back to the pier? I hope this person is okay.
We went right past pier 35 and went right under the bay bridge. No idea where we're going.
-
We had an announcement of a medical during muster. Lots of CG around.
We in The Sanctuary having a cocktail. It's a nice day. I hope the medical turns out okay.
-
Oooh! How was the winery tour? We leave Sunday for Hawaii and we're signed up for the winery tour on the way back.
-
We were on her a little over a year ago and she was in fantastic shape. You have nothing to worry about. Enjoy! :)
-
I still hope to see you on board. We can talk about our cysts together over a drink in six days! :)
-
Thanks for the review! Glad to hear the ship is in good shape. Can't wait to climb aboard in seven days!
-
I'd go on the cruise. Oh wait, I am going on that cruise LOL!
Seriously though, do they know when they'll be taking the wick out? I have had cysts before and never had a wick for more than a few days. Either way, the medical staff on the ship would be able to handle any issues.
On the Grand right now- everything is wonderful

Caribe deck too. And they are really small if you're coming from the large ones like they have on Star. Yikes.
