Hi,

We're torn between going to a combo Galapagos/Machu Picchu trip either:

last week in May or

3rd or 4th week in July

Galapagos:

anything spectacular we'd miss by doing one of those time frames over the other?

The weather seems relatively comparable I think?

Machu Picchu

one is probably better than the other?

we can either to Machu Picchu before or after.

and still deciding between Celebrity and Silversea

Hi,

We're in Mykonos one day only, and we want time to shop!

If we do the Delos tour, we'll have very little time for that in downtown Mykonos shopping.

Is Delos a 'must see' though? should we do it anyway no matter what?!

And I see there's a 'ferry' and a 'boat' that go there.

I get seasick; (but I'll have the patch).

Is the boat smaller (12-15 ppl?) and very fast?  (worse for me I'm guessing)

I assume the ferry is large and slower; but it's a much longer day trip.

We only have 1 day in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

We want time to shop in the main downtown area of Dubrovnik.

If we take the Cavtat tour, then the shopping is very limited.

Is Cavtat really worth is? is it spectacular?

is it like if you go to Athens you have to see the Parthenon? I;m just trying to get a sense if we miss it, will people say WHAT??! you should have seen it.

oh my; I didn't know anything about these strikes; I should have gone through Rome instead! would that have been better (for future reference?) Is Rome better to go through overall?

so Celebrity won't let me change it without a fee! they said it's a 'legal' connection. I called airlines directly; they would let me change it for free if I booked with them.

I'm guessing you are one of those people that would take this flight!?    : )

wow! sounds as if 65 min. is ridiculous; thanks! I'll change either the first flight or the second most likely. first flight is Delta; second is Air France; (bought all together through cruise line). I hope they will let me change the first one to an earlier flight!

Hi,

We're flying from the U.S. into CDG (Delta flight; one ticket); then into Venice.  Our flight/connection time at CDG was just changed for the worse.

It went from 1 hr and 15 min to 65 min!

What do you think is the minimum time we need? I can change the flight if necessary; but then we have a  4  1/2  hr. connection time at CDG.

I believe we have to go through immigration at CDG? and then customs in Venice?

wow; thanks! I wish I had seen this sooner! So I got the impression from Uniworld that even jeans and sneakers (and capris) were ok in the dining room? (not shorts though)....but not so? Or you just see people a little more dressed up than that I guess for dinner?

Good to heard all the food is fine to eat on ship.

Where do you eat while at Four Seasons while on your own?

Did a lot of people do the tour of Coptic Cairo that first day and the bazaar in Cairo? Did you feel safe on your own there?

Does Uniworld give you water on the excursions? on the bus?

We are taking this trip, leaving tomorrow! and are so excited.....and I'm soooo glad I found your post!

We're concerned about the water,/food/bugs, etc.....so did many people on the Tosca (or any?) get sick in general?

We know not to drink the water; but even washing your hands in the water isn't really cleaning them I guess? And are the mosquitos as bad as I'm hearing? I'm reading to use all kinds of bug spray.

And did everyone load up on high SFP sunscreen every day? Are you out in the hot sun a lot? Or mostly sheltered?

That 1st day we get in, is there anything we should absolutely see that we won't see on the rest of the entire trip?

How much do you barter for stuff at the non brick and mortar type stores?

We're bringing all short sleeve stuff; couple sweaters for ship/evening? No dress clothes and just sneakers (and no sandals just for safety purposes). Is dining room very casual?

Gift shop on Tosca: surprised to hear we can't get any toiletries there! no qtips/vaseline/etc.... What does the gift shop sell? clothes? shoes?

Does everyone, or pretty much everyone buy the galabeyas for that party?

I'm definitely not doing the hot air ballon thing; and not sure about the Sound and Light Show; so it's just lights on the pyramids? Is that it?

Do you think ALL the food on the ship is safe? Even fresh fruit with thin skin? (that I was told to avoid?).

So they don't limit the amount of bottled water you can get in your room (as it says in the brochure?)

Do they take credit cards everywhere? We're debating how much cash to take.
