  1. Another tip, we cross-pack. We had friends where the airline lost one of their bags and she literally didn't have anything other than what she wore on the ship to wear for a week. She did find a few things to buy on the ship and in ports. So we pack half my clothes and half my DH clothes in each suitcase. We tend to take either two carry-on bags or two larger bags, depending on the length of the cruise.:)

  2. Like I said, it's ONE drink. And it's only been a "gift" for what, about 2 years? It's not like this is a long-time Carnival tradition that's being taken away.

But, let's all take every possible opportunity to squeal about CUTBACKS CUTBACKS CUTBACKS. Honestly, people.

More waitstaff at breakfast? Really? Those people are already working morning, noon, and night in both the buffet and MDRs.

I understand. I want it all, too. I want to sail for inflation-adjusted prices that are lower than what they were 15 years ago. I want no single supplement. I want free drinks. I want OBC for price drops. I want food to be as good or better than it was 15 years ago despite the exorbitant increases in food prices over that time span. I throw a hissy fit if there isn't an ice bucket in my cabin and if the cabin stewards don't act like they're my personal servants.

    :p

  3. Juli, your little Koala bear Rae here!! :D Loved your review and am constantly going back to this thread to relive the cruise. Your pictures and memories are wonderful. The Captain and I were very happy to have "Dr. Juli" and her pharmacy available for us when we came down with that chronic cough which laid us low for a few days.

Looking seriously at the B2B Conquest in Oct. We hope to sail with you and J.R. again and this time spend more time doing things instead of "recovering" in our cabin..lol

Wanted to say "Hi" to all the M&G group. What a fun time we had meeting all of you and hope to see each one of you again on a future sailing.:)

  4. We use the free service every trip. It is always returned neatly folded. I roll everything so tight that I send one bag out and frequently get 2 or 3 bags back...lol

Only once did we have a problem. They lost track of our laundry and finally two days later we received our clothes. Along with many apologies, our laundry was neatly pressed, hanged and bagged in clear bags...even my undies!:o

It is a Platinum perk that I love.:)

  5. I would be careful about renting a car in Honolulu from Dollar (Waikiki area). We changed to the Waikiki location after finding out the airport Dollar didn't service the cruise port. They said the Waikiki location would send a shuttle to the cruise pier, but on our Hawaii cruise 2 weeks ago, there were several of us that were stranded. They never sent a shuttle, despite several calls. Another couple and us shared a taxi ($40) to Dollar only to find a line of around 30+ people who had already been waiting in line for over an hour. Only 1 employee for Dollar and 1 employee for Thrifty which is at the same location. We had tickets to Pearl Harbor so frantically flagged a taxi, another $50 and just barely made our reservation. We booked through Hawaii Discount and they were very nice, refunded our taxi monies and were going to find out what the trouble was with Dollar. Hawaii Discount was working to get several people reimbursed for taxies as they all basically did the same routine as we did.

Ended up having to take the city bus and walking back to the cruise port from downtown, a very long way. Pearl Harbor was great, but the day started and ended on a sour note.

We also rented a car in Maui from Budget, very nice experience, quick and friendly service.

  6. I was almost shocked to see this post. I love cross stitching and it seems like a dying art! I set sail in a week on the Breeze, I would be so happy if they offered something like that! I have all intentions of bringing a few projects with me to keep me occupied at the airport and other down times but a ship project would be a fun keepsake! :D

If they have the little whale cross-stitch perhaps you could pick me up some instructions. It is real cute for a keepsake. Thanks!:)

  7. I don't have one, but I have to ask, how recent was this? I remember on my first cruise back in 2007 there was cross-stitch arts and crafts (both foldable-scissor holders and S&S card holders), but I've not seen it on any cruise since! I've always hoped to see it again!

We did it on our Hawaii cruise a couple of weeks ago. It is real cute, blue/black whale, but I didn't complete it and somewhere I lost the instructions/pattern. I guess I'll just contact Carnival and see if they can send me another.:)

  8. Sailed early Sept. To Alaska. Very good piano player not so good on singing. Seemed to never be more than a half dozen people in the place. Wasn't my cup of tea.

She was on our Hawaii cruise which returned last Saturday. Same experience, never more than 3 or 4 guests, we stayed just a little while, she wasn't great, felt like wanting to take a nap. lol:)

  9. I have been taking my pills in one of those small pill containers with the days of the week for several years now on cruises.....36 of them...and have never had any trouble so the answer is no, you do not have to take all the original bottles although many people do for their own peace of mind.

However if I traveled with a narcotic prescription I would in that case take the bottle.

This!! We take up to 3 weeks worth and never have been questioned on any of our 20+ cruises and air travel.

  10. If using the Cheers program, do they list where and when you order a drink on your folio as they do without the program. If so, would they list the drink or soda, then zero it off if you are within the 15 drink limit. How can you find out at any time how many drinks you've had for the day. Thanks!:)

  11. We like SW. Last cruise we took another airline one direction, had to pay for bags, no soft drinks unless we paid, if we wanted to watch a movie, you had to pay.

On the way home we flew SW. Paid for Early Bird, received a position in the A group, received a bag of peanuts and a bag of pretzels, free soft drinks, and I watched movies and news on my Ipad with their free wi-fi. It was great! Oh, and I forgot to mention the 2 free bags! Plus, the staff were funny and friendly. Worth every penny to us.:D

  12. I am on the "do not call list" but was getting all kinds of calls, so I signed up at nomorobo dot com and actually called them a few days later because I didn't get any calls (thinking I had signed up wrong). Turned out I get very few calls from friends and family, all the rest were robo calls. Great website, especially if your cable/phone provider are on the list.:D

  13. We are thinking of booking an obstructed balcony cabin on the Upper Deck (5).

Any thoughts of pictures you might be able to share would be helpful

    Thank you.

Steer clear of the first one or two lifeboats from the prow, they have a higher rooftop and will obstruct your view. The others come up to your balcony floor and are okay. My sister-in-law has a fear of heights and this level was perfect for her as she couldn't look down but could enjoy all the sights on the Alaska trip. Happy cruising.:)

  14. I have never seen them on any cruise that I have been on that has the Mongolian Wok

I guess its a Conquest class thing ,that's usually what we cruise

    We learn something everyday :)

They offered mussels and shrimp two days on our 4-day Baja just last month in addition to chicken, beef and pork. Yum!!
