  1. Hi, we're on Anthem May 6 (Sat am) to May 11 (Thurs am). We're staying at the BW Robert Treat from 5/4-6. Question on each direction below - thanks for any advice!

Saturday am - looking at private car service (pick-up at 9 am at hotel)

    2 adults, 1 carry-on size, 1 26" checked bag (plus tote/backpack on us) - quotes around $ 69

    1) Is this the best option? Should we consider Uber (possibly lower cost) at this time of day as it's a Saturday?

Thursday am - pickup at 8 am to Newark - quote around $50

I realize it is a work day and more traffic on the return. We will do self-disembark (Diamond Plus on RCCL so we're familiar with the drill)

I have Amtrak to catch at 9:56 am so I would plan to have drop off at Terminal C and ride the monorail over (have ticket already). DH has a flight at 12:35 so he has plenty of time to get through security and to right terminal for departure.

    1) Private car service - best option? I've seen recent reports of Uber, but a Thursday morning makes me more inclined to have a pre-arranged car

    2) Is 8:00 a good pick-up time given my train time? Google maps shows typical commute at 25-40 minutes at this time.

Thanks! I'll be happy to report back on both journeys once we're back.

We used Summit Taxi, which was a sedan, for ride from Robert Treat to Anthem on March 26th, and it was only $50.00. You can google them if you are interested in a price quote.

  2. Plus, if they do offer a discount on board, the starting price might be higher then it is now. We waited, because we could get 30% off on board, due to crown and anchor status, but that percentage came off of a higher per day price. It was $55.00 per day, before the cruise, and $61.00 per day, on board the ship. Buy now and change it if the price drops further, as the above poster said.

  3. You're welcome Kathy. How did the Robert Treat work out for you? I enjoyed my stay there, but that doesn't mean it's a fit for everyone. I thought it was a very good value for the money and was pleasantly surprised at the comfortable bed. The free breakfast, free wifi, and free shuttle were nice perks.

We really liked it to! The roof top deck was our favorite spot! We could see the NYC skyline, which was a nice surprise!

  4. I wanted to report back on our service from Robert Treat Best Western, we made a reservation with Summit taxi. The driver picked us up on time, in a Lincoln, and drove us to the port for $50.00. Tip was at our discretion. He was friendly, and got us to the port in about 30 minutes.

We were going to take public transportation from the port to our hotel in Manhattan, but my husband wasn't happy with having to use 3 different types of service, and still have to walk with our luggage about another block to the hotel, so I made a reservation with Carmel limo, while we were still on the ship. They will meet us at the ship, at 9:30AM, for $47.00 plus tolls, tip, and wait time if any. I hope all the extras, won't cost too much more.

Does anyone know how much tolls will cost us from Bayonne cruise port to Mid town Manhattan?

    Thank you in advance!

  5. I'm not positive about this, but after reading info on Celebrity, if you signed up with them prior to becoming D +, it sounded to me like they were saying you would have to accumulate points through them, to move up in status. Meaning if you signed up with them and told them your RCI loyalty number, when you were say gold, then you would have to cruise with celebrity, and accumulate points with them, to move up to their next level.

If you didn't already give them your C&A number, while at a lower level, then no worries. If you did, maybe someone else can confirm or say I have it all wrong.

  6. We were on the Explorer aft deck 7, and I wouldn't book it again. I like to see the water, and with the blocked view, and the wide deck between the end of the balcony, and the end of the ship, it was a very obstructed view. We were in the middle of the aft though, so I think it is much worse then the corner balcony. You should have a better view, being able to look off to the side, out that nice big circular cut out!

I do like the bigger balconies back there though, but I wouldn't book the aft, on that class ship again, unless possibly the corner aft.

The crew area is on the back of deck 6, and they would go out there for their breaks, which didn't bother us at all.
