Hi, no the cabin won't be ready until after 1:30. We won't get early access because we won't drop off carry on without being able to lock the room. Since it won't be ready early, we will carry around our luggage until 1:30 just like everyone else, and will grab something to eat, just like everyone else. That's my point all together. We will be doing everything just like everyone else. There is no distinction between blue, red, gold, platinum, or diamond. No supposed perk to enjoy. We are just like everyone else.

I have checked with John Herald as I thought. Platinum and Diamond members have full access to their Cabins ad soon as they are ready. Be 10 am 11 am or whenever. However Carnival will not guarantee that the cabin will be ready prior to 1:30.

  2. Ok reading the letter. It seams to me that you can go to your cabin when you board. They just won't guarantee that it will be cleaned. If it has not been you can still leave your carry on. But then they would like you to go an enjoy the rest of the ship till it is cleaned. But if it is cleaned then feel free to enjoy as normal. However they can not guarantee that it will be cleaned till 1:30

Do you pick and choose words to comprehend? She didn't blame anyone else... she actually said "I cried and told my husband it was my fault I didn't mean to leave it behind.. because of me we can't go and enjoy our honeymoon.. and I apologized." The other things you mentioned... stress of wedding, rush of leaving, heavy traffic... all stressful things that can lead one to forget something.

So it was clear she was not blaming, she was sad. However, I understand if you have to convince yourself that she was trying to find blame, in order to live with your lack of compassion for another human being.

Compassion does not mean that you have to think they deserve a refund, or another cruise. 🙄

Mike reread the OP. She dose not come out and blame Carnival. However says more then once that they wouldn't let us on.  Which makes it sound like that she wanted them to bend the rules for her. And that they were somehow wrong cause they couldn't.  That at the least is an attempt to shift some of not all of the blame off to Carnival.

OP,  really sorry this happened to you. Stuff happens. Learn from it and move on.

Gotta love all the perfect people on these forums who have never made a mistake in their entire lives......

Don't think people think they are perfect. Those who find fault with the OP. Are doing so cause she wants to blame anyone and everyone for her mistake but herself.

    The Listing Incident:

We were in the room, the wife was in the restroom & I was walking towards the Balcony. We were on the Starboard side & the ship began rocking back & forth so I wanted to check for the swells. After the second big rock the ship went Starboard and kept going. Our balcony, we were on deck 8, 😎door came open & everything on our table & desk came into the floor. Wine glasses broke & the emergency lights came on, air conditioning turned off. During that time I was able to keep my balance and stay straight. All I could think of was getting to my wife. The incident lasted for less than 2 minutes and everyone was in the halls. We had officers come running past our rooms & began to worry, buy almost immediately the captain came over the loudspeaker saying all was under control and would keep us informed.

We found out that a Starboard stabilizer tripped a breaker and did not deploy causing the list to that side. Every team member did their best to comfort and help.

In MY experience we were calm & my family and surrounding passengers were safe. At no point during the cruise did I feel that my life was in danger or that we were actually going to sink.

There were 5 injuries that I heard of 3 were from extreme cuts from the broken glass, 1 lady had a seizure and 1 child broke a leg. I hope and pray those people are good.

Our steward Kadek was amazing and came straight to our room to clean any broken glass & helped us but the room & balcony back in order.

During the breakage a piece of glass got in the memory foam of my sandals & I had glass lodged in my feet, but was able to easily remove the piece & had no lasting affects from it.

At the first stop (Amber Cove) 8 people decided to fly home & about 10 that planned to changed their mind.

Thank you for the info on the listing. Take it from where you were on board that the reports of total choas. Of the ship being on its side taking on water for over an hour. Are total over reactions.

Pics, video, and Captain's note here.

Looked a little more serious than when a ship is docking with thrusters.

After reading the story, watching the video and looking at the pictures. See nothing other then lose items that slide to the floor. From what I have read there has been no reported injuries. Which leads me to conclude that Carnival's report that it was a 15 to 25 degrees that last apx. 60 seconds sounds logical.  I am sure that for those on board that it was not a pleasant time. However it was no where as serious as some are trying to make it out to be.  For those who want to try stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Place on foot a block 2 to 3 inches thick. Strighten both legs you will be standing at roughly 20 degrees.

I have no quibble with an 8% increase in suggested tip for a regular room, but I am wondering what, if any, the crew are receiving in their pay. I just don't want to see the company protect their budget by simply increasing the gratuity paid by passengers.

The prepaid gratuities go to the crew.  If Carnival were to bill them as gratuities and not give 100% to the crew as stated, they would if caught have to either refund the money collected and/or give it to the crew effected. Plus a potential fine up to the amount collected.  So lets see $12.95 times 3500 passangers on just one ship for one cruise would be roughly $45,000.  Or somewhere in the neighborhood of $47,000,000 fleet way per year. I don't see Carnival or any company taking that kind of risk.

  8. How do they cheat? (I never went to a trivia game.) Is it the honor system to report score??

It is a honor system. And if you listen closely you will hear them saying they are cheating. On our last cruise playing sports trivia, the question was he is the King of Racing. The correct answer of course is Richard Petty. The guy a table over from us hand answered simply Jr. Then said to his wife I get credit for that cause know one knows who this Petty guy is.

  9. Just a word of warning. If you are on a third party tour. The ship will not wait if you are late. The second time we went to Panama. We got a police escort back to the ship. A group of about 15 took same tour thru a third-party. When we got to our cabin they were standing on the pier watching us leave.

  10. I would agree, but the emails are coming directly to my inbox with her past passenger info from Carnival. And they come often. I get very few of them and none with any good deals.

Okay now lets see if I got this correct. You are getting the emails. But they have her info. Sounds to me more of a computer clitch then anything. Most likely what happened was some how when you cruise together her name was listed first on the booking. We get the same thing I gent emails almost daily from carnival with my wife's info. She gets almost none. Our cruise history is the same.

  11. FYI I am not nor have I ever been a pool chair hog. I just wanted to select a table before getting my food which we have always done. It is pain to take turns getting our food. I just wanted the least offensive way of holding a table. We eat and then leave. Our next cruise we are thinking of just eating in the Lido for dinner. I thought we would be getting up more for the many dinner courses -

It may be s pain to take turns. However since there I'd not enough tables for everyone. Why should you get to reserve a table.

  12. Have to disagree with you on this.

Business will charge prices based on what the traffic will bear and to maximize profitability. Do not believe they add anything due to smuggling. Besides do not believe there is a huge amount of smuggling going on in any case.

While that may be true on land. On board a cruise ship they have more leeway to charge higher prices. Cause if you don't like the price they are changing. You are not going to the bar across the street.

  13. Now just my take. However, just from the first few lines. Apparrtly she thought she was going on a paid vacation. Now my question becomes this she said she was working 14 hour days. She was getting breaks during the day. Okay could she be like some former co-workers of mind. We were working a split shift 5 hours on 5 hours off 5hours on. They thought that since it 15 hours from the first time they punched in till the last time they punched out that it was a 15 hour day. And being we were bus drivers that they couldn't be asked to work anymore. And even if it was 14 hours she was working how many were actually training that once she fully knew the job she would not have to put in?

All toll Sounds a to me like she got homesick and wants an excuse for it not working out. Cause given that she signed a 6 month contract. There is most likely penalties for her quiting before the end of the six months. And/or grounds for Carnival to file a lawsuit against her for breech of contract.
