IMO:
Unless you have a mobility issue, there is no justification for a balcony on an Alaskan cruise. Far better viewing from topside. However, if you enjoy balconies for the light, the roominess, the fresh air and just sitting, then go for it. But don't get it for the views...because balcony views are limited in Alaska. Your views on a balcony are only in 1 direction...
As I said before, in my opinion.

We sailed India in April and 2nd the motion for Lijo. He (they) did a great job. We used him for all 3 ports. Don't forget your visas.

This poster appears to be confusing suite perks with the Free at Sea promotional items, which are often referred to as "perks".
Agree.

I believe I saw that the Epic has a 2 level casino that is open to the floors above, it also looked like there was a bar on a level above exposed to this open area. Am I mistaken? Also, does the cigarette smoke travel? On RCI one of my favorite bars is near the casino and on our last cruise the cigarette smoke was worse in the bar then the actual casino. We couldn't enjoy any of the activities, trivia, piano bar because it was so bad.
The Getaway is the same. Casinos in the center open floors above and open on the ends. Smoke just travels throughout the entire area into one open area Restaurant & The Comedy Club.
Most un enjoyable.

I think OP was referring to the perks that come with booking a full suite like priority embarkation and disembarkation, having services of a butler and concierge available, dedicated restaurant, etc. I thought they were asking if the mini-suite was worth the extra cost since full suite perks were not included.
Maybe the OP will clarify.

Have we (or is it just me) missed the intent of the OPs original post question? Perks? Not features!

What would be the point of booking a mini suite if you don't get any of the suite perks?
Depends, however if your booking a mini-suite with no perks chances are you're going for a MX category and paying a whole lot less than you would be for a mini Suite with perks. You should be able to buy any perks along the way for less than they're going.

Hi,
Traveling with a Teen and two younger kids. We are in the process of packing, Does anyone know if there are drawers or just closets in the room. Concerned with overpacking and not having room to store things.
Thank You,
If you run out of closet and drawers you can always leave it in your suitcase. Is this your first cruise?

Dh and I are thinking about trying NCL (we've been on two other lines). Question is: if we book on a third-party site, are we able to make changes/access our account on NCL's website? The last cruise I booked was through a third-party site and I was unable to make any changes to my cruise without going through that site.
Define changes? Once booked you will be able to use the NCL website to manage your account to book tours, make reservations for dining, etc. But you cannot change rooms, change Cruise dates or anything else like that.

It's all relative, if you're cold normally then it will be cold if you're warm then you will be burning up. Almost has no bearing on Antarctic or the Caribbean if the air conditioning is on it can be cold or it can be warm just depends on your body. Dress accordingly.

Got the bidding email yesterday for the 5/7/2017 cruise on the Star.
I'm beginning to think the emails that you are receiving are for the bidding process. Therefore 30 days does not apply to me. I am on the Sun which is not doing the bidding process I suspect, therefore I'm on a 30-day minimum prior to being notified. Anyone agree with that rationale?
-
I was told just today that emails do not get sent out until you are inside 30-days from sail date. True? Who knows. But based on some of the previous comments here upsells are available for April 9th as of today, and that's more than 30 days out.

Does the cruise line have a policy on this? Just wondering. I know on the POA they were pretty strict on even refilling your water bottle. You had to use a clean glass to fill the bottle.

That's not being strict, that's being sanitary.

1 yes
2 no
Not sure why were there would be a premium? It would take less crew to clean up. And I really doubt they would have any problem filling the ship with non-smokers.

I'm sure it all depends. Our Cruise coming up in April has been the same identical price for our room type and category for 16 months straight.
-
Just depends which airline and your airline status. We are allowed three 70 lb bags (each) on domestic flights for free.
Disregard, I see that you're flying first class or business which allows 70 pounds on some Airlines.

Which domestic US airline allows you 70 pounds per?
-
I just weighed my packed suitcase and it is 56lbs. Are they very strict about luggage weight?
51 lbs at the airport and you likely will be charged extra or asked to repack to another suitcase.

Here is the opposite opinion of the previous post, save your money. Enjoy your first cruise there are plenty of complementary restaurants to eat at including the buffet which is hard to beat in itself.

I hope someone has notified the Administrator to let them know the 'title' and/or 'subject' is not showing up on this new form. Do you intend to correct that?

IMHO: Gratuities is a good choice. Balcony in Hawaii bad choice, especially for honeymooners. They will be in ports and off the ship everyday so a balcony is a total waste of money. In the evening when they aren't in their room they will be at dinner or at a show or at some venue. In the evenings when they're back in their room, they won't be on the balcony. 😄

Hummm...it seems to be raining so how much sugar and how many lemons should I use for this lemonade?
-
IMHO a balcony is NOT a prerequisite for an Alaska cruise. You see far more on Deck. Just dress in layers as the weather is semi unpredictable.

You may well be outside your departure date for the second cruise and therefore you can't print your Docs. However as stated before you really don't need them.
