  1. At first we thought it was like the movie GROUNDHOGS DAY, where it never ended.

But now we realize you should be safe almost the whole month of April this year and next.

Then when colleges let out after the first week of May the summer rush starts.

Enjoy, one day we will at this time of year.

    Safe travels.

If you schedule for June you should be ok.😄

  2. Take half the clothes and twice the money.

Take 3 bottoms and 3 tops all in the same color line and you will have more options you can think about. If you feel the need to be dressy one dress will do it. 2 pair of underwear washed out every other day is more than enough as you will have your bathing suit on for 6 to 8 hours a day on sea days. Leave formal attire at home as Resort Casual is the new dress code.

  3. Trying to make the same decision for our cruise next February. We are on a 7 day Caribbean with 4 island stops. Every moment off the ship means less likely to break even.

I am a single malt scotch drinker which most of the good ones are not even included in the package. So therefore, if I drop down to the best of the ones included, here is the break down:

    per day avg - $52

at $7/avg per drink.......7.42 drinks per day

and thats if you were on the ship every day all day.

So ask yourself the question......how much will you be off the ship which would put your average when on the ship closer and closer to 10 drinks per day.

If you can get drinks for $7 each I'm going to start sailing on this cruise line. [emoji1]

  4. Does Budget car rental have a shuttle from their drop-off location to the Port of Miami? I have reserved car to be dropped off a the port location, just wanted to know if they have a shuttle or if we will have to take a taxi.

    Thanks!

What did they say when you called them?

  5. Not to start a fight or anything but I think everyone who is upset should take a breath until we see what the replacement is. So far it does not sound like NCL is downgrading anything necessarily, only making changes. I too am booked on the Escape and was looking forward to MDQ but will have to adjust plans once we see what the changes turn out to be. It is frustrating sometimes when things change after booking and paying but not all change is meant to punish the guests (although the Margaritaville one was!). I just think we all need to wait and see, maybe we will be pleasantly surprised with the replacement.

Now this is the way you post to complainers, not the way I did... nice job. To the original poster please accept my apology.

  7. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

DH and I went in to our nearby TSA pre-check office (Oxnard Ca) on Jan 13th to apply. Easy right ?

DH received his letter and KTN # dated Jan 18th.....Certainly mine would be arriving soon...after all it was always me getting the random TSA pre-check when flying many times....not him.

After a week or so I called to check on mine and was told my fingerprints didn't show up well enough (no fault of the person or electronic way they were taken) it happens sometimes...(as I have aged my skin is becoming thin) and that the FBI would have to do a different kind of search (by my name I guess).

Has this happened to any of you and if so how long did it actually take?

Had exactly the same problem, mine went through in days while my wifes went through in probably two months, I don't remember exactly but it was in that time frame

  8. We will be in San Juan from 2pm - 9pm. We aren't doing an excursion. What should we do? Where should we go? Where should we eat? Any suggestions or hints? Thank you in advance!

I assume you have not been there before; so get off the ship and start walking due north by northwest, crisscrossing all the side streets Enjoy the scenery, the shops, the restaurants, the people and ending up at the fort... By then you will have answered all your own questions. When you get to the fort you've gone as far north as you can...and you saved excursion expenses.

  9. Welcome! I'm pretty new here myself although I've been cruising for a few years now. Used to just lurk on occasion (without sigining up/logging in) but thought I would try to give back in a small way based on my experiences.

What I find fascinating are CC members who've had accounts for several (sometimes 10+) years but have post counts in the single-digits  I wonder if they lurk and just rarely post, or if they signed up a long time ago and rarely log in.

Not sure the correct word is lurk but I may be one of those you're referring to . I don't have a lot of posts but find this very entertaining and informative.

I'll post occasionally when I have constructive information.

  10. There has been many a thread and much discussion over the "new policy" concerning no more deep discounting of cruise fares after final payment.

The April 2nd, 13 night transatlantic on Constellation is now well after final payment and the Celebrity price is $549pp/$709pp for insides/ocean views, while a popular online site has a price of $499pp/$619pp.

I realize that today is not within the oft referred to window of the final 30 days before departure, but I think this irrefutable evidence that cabins will be sold at (almost) any price to fill the ship regardless of any statements from a CEO designed to encourage early bookings at higher prices.

I concur, their encouragement to book early and then giving it to us in the end (no pun intended) is not a smart strategy. Not sure what they can do to rectify but they should consider their options carefully.

  11. We need help choosing a cabin to have the best view from our balcony on our Infinity cruise from Buenos Aires to Santiago. Probably will choose sky suite to enjoy Luminae again! Thanks for the help!!

Additionally I just changed from balcony to outside view for this cruise because of the potential cooler weather. Did I make a mistake there as well?

In my simple mind and lack of real thinking I would think that you would want to be on the starboard side or the right side toward land. If that's not correct let me know so I can change my reservation.

  13. Because there has been no response from the OP I suspect he may have found it, in his cabin, and he's too embarrassed to let everybody know. 😄

It's been said already but the only thing that needs to be carried is your key card or pass card or whatever your cruise line calls it. I've seen people carry 3 inch thick wallets that can barely fold in half and a ton of keys. In any case I hope the guy find his wallet.

  14. We're looking at using "Fast Shuttle" from the Best Western Plus Miami North (across from MIA) to the cruise port of Miami for a party of 12.

Has anyone used this service? Do you recommend it? They're quoting us $7pp.

Check TripAdvisor. $7 is a pretty good deal even if you have to walk half way. 😄

  15. The night before you are to arrive in Ft. Lauderdale you will be given instructions. When we last did this, we were given "IN TRANSIT" cards.

We had the option of going ashore and taking an excursion or doing whatever we wanted or we could meet with the other "in transit" passengers at a designated location and time, file off the ship together, go through immigration, wait in the terminal for a brief time and then return to the ship. It was very easy.

If you opt to go ashore on your own, you will have to go through customs. When you return to the terminal you must go through security and then wait until boarding starts before you can go back onboard but you will be the first group allowed to board.

Can I assume your luggage stays on the ship?
