  1. So, I like good coffee in the morning. Is the room service coffee good?

    MDR coffee is the same??

I don't have to have Starbucks,, but I hate cheap cheap stuff.

I would make it in my room if they could bring me boiling water!

    comments on quality please!

I am thinking of the nice cup of joe with wake call/room service for 7am on the balcony! Now that is vacationing, right?!

  2. I am wondering if they have some easy way for you to be in touch with your family members cruising with you while on board.?:confused:

Carnival has an app that you can use to text each other on board. Disney had little cell phone like texting devices.

Is there anything on RCCL that will help. Can't walk the length of the ship all day looking for dd. Don't want to have an internet plan just say "meet me at the pool" or " I went to get coffee be back in 15 minutes! :)

  3. On a Transatlantic, an aft balcony is wonderful. Frequently it's too windy to use a side balcony but on the aft you are protected from that.

I just booked a hump balcony room, just wondering if this is too windy?

It is the furthermost one out on deck 8! I want to be out there a lot!:confused:

    Any input here?

    Thanks!

  4. We are looking at the fares on this current Wow deal and wondering if the fares go up and down alot.

Can we wait until towards the end of the deal?

Are fares likely to go up if they are selling a lot of cabins?

I realize I might end up with a less desirable front balcony rather than mid, which is what we want.

Is the $500 deposit half of their standard deposit? The deal says only 50% of deposit.

    Thank you,

    Mary

  5. I am grateful for the feedback and comments. I do think i can come with appropriate expectations.

And that blue sea before me is why I want to cruise!

I will plan on a few special meals at the specialty restaurants.

We will be on the Liberty. If you do the Dine any Time do you have to phone in a reservation each day for when you want to come??

Maybe Room service and a balcony is top of my plan! :)

    Thank you everyone!

  6. So I am consistently seeing comments that the food on RCCL is not good.

I do think most of us review things when they are either really good or we are mad and things did not make us happy. But I do take reviews very serious and I am starting to wonder if our plan to switch to a RCCL cruise from Carnival is a good idea.

My dd is 16 and eating is not on the top of her list- rarely is!

but the Liberty of the Seas looks like a lovely ship and we are thinking of changing our plans from the Carnival Triumph to the LofSeas.

But is the food that bad?

What 3 dinner choices do you recommend?

What special menus are the best?

    What desserts did you enjoy?

What does room service for lunch and dinner offer?

    Are they doing 5 courses?

We have only cruised once, on Disney.

If we go on the RCCL Liberty I am guessing we are going to have a lovely ship, lovely balcony room .. good or great shows but lousy food if I take 80% of the comments seriously! :(-- and for dd that will be fine.

.. but I do like to enjoy good food on vacation!

So what IS good on Liberty of the Seas??

    Thanks

    Mary R

  7. We are Diamond Plus and have over 280 days on Royal.

The beds , on the other hand are horrible. We brought a foam topper, but it wasn't enough. We added one of their foam toppers before we could sleep.

These are just my random thoughts.

Craig: How did you take the topper on board?? Just buy a new one and keep it rolled in the original packaging?

  8. I really appreciate so much interest and opinion on my question. I realized I need to think about what I really enjoy about cruising and is a balcony so important?? One thing I felt while on the ship was there was so much to do, I almost couldn't relax and do nothing on our balcony... rather like going to a fab food buffet- you don't eat slow and enjoy the conversation! Not sure why!??-- but there is nothing like watching the sun rise over the AMAZING blue waters of the caribbean!! or the moon rise or watching you coming into port in your night gown.. or watching the flying fish! ( No one told me about the incredible flying fish! I was blown away!)

So we will serious consider the R.C. cruise and maybe the extra $500 for the balcony! -- cause my husband, who is not going, is generous. and the ship is nicer and the port is in town!

But new question! ??? Would you take an interior room if you were near a quiet balcony that had nice lounge chairs on deck?? Are there a few hidden spots like that on the back ?

I didn't see too many nice lounge chairs, away from pools, where it is quiet and you can read, on the Disney Magic.

I will post this question on the R. Caribbean section.

I am learning a lot and hope to enjoy a relaxing 7 days cruise in June or July!

Thank you fun and devoted cruisers for you opinions and suggestions.

  9. I should have said: Carnival Triumph 5 day cruise with balcony

or the R.C. Liberty of the Seas 7 day cruise- interior room.

    and We don't drink.

I would do this trip with my daughter (16) . Not sure which.

I have done research on Carnival and no research yet on R.C.

Very similar ports.. just the R. C. is 7 days.

I am not excited about the party/dance scene that might be going on on Carnival.

But I love a balcony so much!!

    Thanks for input!

    Mary

  10. We are looking at pricing and comparing rooms.

We have a Carnival room with balcony- but have to drive to port and have a hotel stay.

Or for about the same cost- Royal Caribbean for an interior room - at local port?????

We have cruised once - and loved the balcony- on Disney!! But we have never been on Carnival or R. C.

Any suggestions from those big cruisers out there!

    We want to save money..

Is the balcony better than a little luxury on the RC experience?

Is the food better on R.C.?

    What to do??

    Thanks!

  11. Just returned from the Breeze a couple of weeks ago...smoked salmon isn't on the door hangers anymore...we thought why not just write it on the card like we do for peanut butter....and surprise the next morning it did show up and is the same as it has always been. The waiter even referenced it and said "your smoked salmon is on the bottom plate"

Write it on the menu card...no harm in trying...it worked for us :)

So what else is off the menu that we can order

    for Breakfast

    and lunch and dinner

    and snacks???

    :confused::confused:

    :rolleyes::)

  12. Thanks Serene56:)! I did finally figure out where we are!

I like that we are sandwiched between rooms.. and not to far from elevators.

Just wonder if we are too far forward? Will there be lot of wave action - more than normal? WE did one Disney cruise and almost never noticed rocking/rolling.. even during one small storm.

I might see what cabins are available.

    Thanks,

  13. So, we have reservation and now I wonder if this is a good room. It is forward and under the forward pool, i think.

Will it be noisy if they have music by the pool or 11pm swimmers?

    Should we change our room?

Can I change it? or would it require making a new reservation and losing my deposit.

    Any ideas on the room?

    Mary

Ps. there was no "new thread" button on the main forum page under Carnival/ Triumph. Not sure why.

    Thanks group!

  14. So great to read reviews! I have cruised on Disney and realize that Carnival does things differently.

So how does the dining work?

You can pick a time..( we picked late, so we do not have to be rushed in the evening. Room service for afternoon snacks worked for us on Disney.

But are you still waiting a lot. If we select late - might it be 9pm before food comes?

Do you have to make a reservation each night? I guess families might go to the other eateries..

Caan you select which dining room you want?

And ask for a specific section

    or server?

If we are a party of two-- me and dd of 16, will they seat us with a big group or by ourselves?

Looking forward to June 11th out of NOLA.

    Mary :D

  15. What does cabin service usually include? The tidy and make bed?

If there are no small refrigerators, can we ask for ice and then bring some sodas for the room etc?

What are the guidelines for bringing food on board?

    Thanks Ya'll!:):)

So excited to be in my first Carnival cruise - June 11 out of New Orleans!

    Mary
