  1. Our number 1 ship is Crystal Symphony.

    Number 2 Celebrity Solstice.

Number 3 is Allure of the Seas, and number 4 comes NCL Epic.

Oooops....! But it is in chronological order and not in order of prefrence! (I can't say as we have yet to experience these last two ships).

We like to try different ships, however YMMV.

Enjoy your cruise, whichever you choose.

  2. Time varies.

Generally speaking, you can get on board around 11am and cabins will be ready by 1pm.

Buffet usually opens 7am-10.30am (breakfast), 11.30am-3pm (lunch), and 5pm-9.30pm (dinner).

Taste MDR is available 8am-9.30am (breakfast), noon-1.30pm (lunch), and 5.30pm-10pm (dinner).

Manhattan MDR only serves dinner (5pm-9.30pm).

    YMMV. Enjoy your cruise!

  3. Tyler476,

I agree with peg013. Never put your debit card on hold. It will create more headache later.

As you have paid the (obligatory) gratuities, just set up a cash account say $100. You are limiting your on board charges to that cash account so at least you know you don't spend more than you want to.

There are plenty of "free" (included) things to enjoy on your cruise.

    - you can buy some soda before reaching the ship. They will deliver it to your room, together with your luggages

    - do your own photography. It is VERY expensive to buy from the ship photographer

    - take it easy in ports. Either do a walking tour, or stay on board and enjoy your ship

    - room service are free (except for certain items and certain timing), but tip is appreciated

    - tap water is safe for drinking. Tea/coffee is free (except specialty coffee)

    Bon voyage!

  4. Epic balcony starts from deck 8, so if you want a cabin above and below, you can choose starting deck 9 to 13 (deck 14 only has other category cabins).

The point to remember is to try to be near the lifts/stairs to avoid long walk.

One other point is to check the bed location. It alternates, the bed can be near the bath, or near the balcony. See which suits your preference.

Oh yes. Mind you some cabins have "open balcony". Open to sunshine, to rain, and to the people above.

I'd say, choosing a cabin on the Epic is not that simple!

    Enjoy your cruise!

  5. As you are staying a few days, you'll do more sightseeings but will only going to the cruise center once for embarkation.

Better to stay downtown than closer to the Marina.

That being said, Singapore has an excellent subway sistem (MRT) so it will be nice to stay close to one of the MRT stations.

Enjoy your stay, and enjoy your cruise.

  6. Welcome to CruiseCritic, and welcome to the wonderful world of cruising!

Once you have decided your destination, check the reviews so at least you know which cruise line will be more suitable to your style. Don't worry too much. Whichever you choose, you will still be able to enjoy it. "If you want to enjoy your cruise, you will. And if you don't want, you won't".

Extra charges to consider are :

    - going to and returning from your home port (please avoid flying in on the embarkation day. Flights are subject to delays and cancellation)

    - tip, usually around $12/pax/day. Extra at your discretion for porters and others you deemed proper.

    - soda, specialty coffee and alcoholic beverages (packages might be available)

    - special meals at specialty restaurants (again check for psckages)

    - photography. Can be expensive. Do your own to avoid this extra charges.

    - shore excursions at your ports of call.

    - shopping (last but certainly not the least)

Enjoy your cruise. Beware, cruising is addictive. You have been warned :D

  7. Hello again anandaindonesia. Here's a clue. It's a lucky number in China. :D

    Ha ha ha ....! :D

    And thanks also to Miryam1234.

    I re-read eveything s-l-o-w-l-y, and now I found it!

No wonder you can't take a nap without plugging you ear, megacruiser: too close to the action. Well, I hope my Allure cabin will be quiter... I'm two level up luckier than the lucky deck.

Please continue with your review. And don't worry, I read your conversation with your fans, too. Just sometimes I read too fast - too excited!

    Thanks again!
