Trying to figure it all out as I retire in February of 2016 and finally will have time for to go to europe. We plan on 3 weeks there and a cruise will be a part of it.
Any suggestions both off the Boat and on our own would be appreciated.
-
who have replied . Never been to Europe and want it to be a great experince. What are your favorite ports and why?
-
Looking at cruising in Europe in 2016 . Who has done this....What time is the weather decent...how far out to book to get a deal? Wiley Europe cruisers who has the Answers ?

Most shows run between 50 minutes and 70 minutes! Shows that were good (personal opinion here) when we were on there Jan 31st are...Duo Deja Vu...Band On the run...Le Cirque Bijou...Jean Pierre Parent...But in truth they were all pretty good!
Hope that helps... :)

Only one night did we get bad service at Either Tsars or Azura. That night our waiter dropped the whole tray of food and had to reorder. So we thought the service was good overall at both .
-
If I had a group of 9 and you wanted to sit together...I would make reservations ahead of time If I were You. G
Smaller groups can just filter in but I doubt depending on your time to eat...9 folks could be an issue. Plan ahead especially in TSARS . Have Fun..

We did not eat at any PAY places on our Jan 31 st cruise! We ate at Azura and Tsars, the Buffet a lot and Oh'sheeans the rest of the time.
Food was good everywhere in our view. I would say unless you feel a need to get dressed up or have a VERY SPECIAL night out, I would NOT spend the money for the UDP .

Good call about the in room coffee maker ! I forgot all about it as we had one in our Balcony room DUH !
Not sure all rooms do though.
-
No problem...Folks have helped me in the past on here and I want to make sure everyone going on the Jewel gets their questions answered if I can!
-
Answer on the Coffee...Room service or Go to O'sheehans and ask for a couple of Coffee's to go. They are open 24 hours a day. Hope that helps...

Glad to help anyone who will be on the jewel have some idea what to expect and enjoy. You have provided good information as well . To all looking forward to their Jewel trip, you should enjoy the ship, the crew , freestyle dining and the entertaimement.
Nothing is ever perfect, but a lot of it is what you make of your own experience...Have Fun folks.

Live and learn. That is why this forum is valuable to those who have not yet cruised.
This forum provides a lot of good information and I hope I helped as you have those yet to cruise.....
-
Well our favorite thing was NOT having to dress up while on vacation . Freestyle dining was a real plus. After that it was the friendly staff on the Jewel. The entertainment was really good.
The only negative that NCL does not tell you, is your ONBOARD credit does not if any is left PAY for your Gratuities ie. cabin attendant etc. at cruise end! So beware folks as we left some credit on the table and it never got used!

By the way I brought home the freestyle dalies from our cruise if someone has specific questions.

Good information for those who arrive EARLY to Seabrook. We were too tired to venture out coming from Portland Oregon the Night before. But the front desk did tell us if we wanted to go within 10 miles the shuttle at the Best Western suites would take us.
So if you come early take advantage of their shuttle !
-
I was told the shuttle driver would go anywhere within 10 miles of the Hotel. So apparently there are a few choices for restaurants in that area. So ask the front desk folks.... :)
-
The Best western Seabrook suites was good. There is a decent size convience store within walking distance as well as a Subway.. No restaraunt for dinner however.
The hotel was quiet and had a good breakfast included. So for us it was a good choice and you just sign up for the shuttle to the port ahead of time. Hope that helps.... :)

from reading this FORUM helped us and I enjoy sharing our experience with others.
opinions vary for sure but we Found the Jewel to be just that :)
-
I think you will find the CREW on the Jewel very friendly and helpful. The ship overall was in good shape . Folks can always find things to pick on if they feel a need. But our experience was good. Have fun :)

The snorkeling in Belize was OK but not as good as we thought it would be. The water was choppy but clear. Bigger fish but not very colorful. The stop at Shark alley was fun though.
They throw anchovies in the water and the nurse sharks and stingrays swim all around you. The sharks let you touch them and their skin is really rough. We had to laugh as the guide on the boat trip said do not worry the sharks will not bite ...They do not like imported meat!
You can snorkel right from the beach in Roatan. Lots of colorful small fish out by the rocks and coral. Have fun.... :)
-
Agree on the food. But I have to say we never got what we consider a bad meal in any venue on the Jewel. Some folks maybe are much pickier than us.
Only one night in Azura did our meal take awile to get there. But that could be explained as our waiter dropped all the main courses of the 8 of the folks at our table on the ground and had to re order...Go figure.
Anyway I think you will be satisfied with O'Sheehans food and service. Atleast we were :)
-
As to shows The le cirque Bijou was good as was Jean Piere Parent,Duo De Dejija Vu and comedy with Don Friesen were all good hows in our view.
-
My wife had both the meatloaf and the chicken pot pie at O'Sheehan's and thought they were very good. So each to their own as to what is good or not.
-
We ate there a few times and they are open 24 hrs. Service was good as was the food. Good place to go espeically to get away from the crowds. Service was very good when we went.
