  1. Can anyone who has sailed out of Seattle post-shutdown give the the lowdown on suite embarkation? DH and I sailed on Ovation in 2019 in an OVB cabin and the embarkation process was insanely chaotic. Is there a separate line or area for suite check in? We will be traveling with the tiny humans this time so I’m trying to mentally prepare myself and have a game plan for embarkation if it’s going to be as crazy as last time. Suite embarkation on the Adventure out of Nassau last summer did not have a separate line/area/time at the hotel but everything ran so smoothly it didn’t matter, night and day difference from Seattle pre-shutdown.
  2. We are planning to stay at The Charter Hotel next summer. It is just 2 blocks east of Pikes Place and 2 blocks west of a light rail station for sightseeing a little further away.
  3. We rented a keep from DIY Jeep Tours in 2019 and drive to Emerald Lake. Stopping to take pictures and explore for as long as we liked was what made it completely worthwhile. Not only did we get to really enjoy the landscape and wildlife we stopped at the Yukon suspension bridge, played with sled dog puppies, and ventured out into the Carcross Desert. the train looks cool, but we enjoyed being able to have flexibility and control over what we saw and for how long.
  4. When we were on Ovation I didn’t even think to walk on that side of the ship because it looked like it was all part of the restaurant, we always walked through the Bionic Bar area.
  5. Very fortunate. Someone currently on Quantum said they are going to Endicott Arm today and will port in Juneau early tomorrow. I grew up close to where landslides happened pretty regularly so I know it’s just part of life in that part of the world but I would be bummed to miss Skagway, I would rather have more time there than Juneau.
  6. Looks like it was a near miss to the Discovery Princess. https://mustreadalaska.com/skagway-rockslide-takes-out-cruise-ship-dock/
  7. Looks like the passengers on the Discovery Princess had a close call this morning. The rockslide occurred after the ship was docked but before passengers were getting off. https://mustreadalaska.com/skagway-rockslide-takes-out-cruise-ship-dock/
  8. What an awesome pre-cruise journal! I am much like you an my planning starts months and months in advance and includes spreadsheets. My condolences on the loss of your parents and congratulations to your girls! We just booked a cruise on the Ovation next summer for our entire family. DH and I went on the same itinerary in 2019 and had planned to go again in 2020 for my oldest sons birthday but obviously that one didn’t happen. We rebooked for 2021 and when that was looking like a no-go we switched to one of the Adventure OTS sailings out of Nassau…and an adventure it was. Our party of 4 is now a party of 5 and we will be sailing with our boys who will be 12 and 10 and our daughter who will be 15 months. We cannot wait. Thanks for taking us along on your journey, I can’t wait to read you trip report.
  9. They will be with your cruise documents.
