  1. As long as they meet the height requirements they will have no problem going on their own. They let my son who had just turned 7 two months before our Horizon cruises go on the ropes course on his own because he was tall enough. We didn't know that he did it until he told us and we went up and watched him do it the second time.

  2. We did a B2B in 2 different Family Harbor suites on the Horizon at the end of November. We were in 2402 on the Thanksgiving cruise and never heard a sound from above. We actually talked about all of the threads we had read on here complaining about the noise and thought everyone must have been crazy.

Those thoughts changed on the second leg. We moved to 2410 and we were miserable for the entire 6 days. All night long there was loud thumping and banging. Like there was a percussion section from a middle school marching band practicing above us all night. There was also some kind of cart being rolled back and forth. We barely slept on that leg.

If you're in 2398, 2400, or 2402, I wouldn't worry. I can't speak to the odd numbered cabins in the same location on the opposite side though. Anyone in any of the higher, even numbered suites should re-think your location unless you can sleep through anything... and I mean anything.

  3. We sailed on the Vista out of Miami last November. We did self assist and took a 10:30 a.m. flight out of FLL. The line for the security check point at FLL was long and they were doing a lot of random screenings that day (including my bag because my son's candy from Cherry on Top looked suspicious lol), but we still got to our gate early and had to wait before boarding started. A 12:24 p.m. flight out of MIA should be easy to make as long as the ship isn't significantly delayed getting in to port. Self assist is your best bet to get off the ship earlier and to the airport early to help reduce your stress level on debark day.

  4. I have been able to call and text over WiFi using android phones from cruise ships and other areas where I don't get service (we live in the middle of nowhere). I could do it with my old LG G3 almost a year ago and in November with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I was able to call and text my husband (also an android device) who was with me on the November trip and was home when I cruised in April '17. It's an easy way to keep in touch. We called my mom who has an iPhone a few times while we were on the Vista in November so our son could tell her about his day.

Maybe it only works for Verizon phones because that's what we all have. Just make sure you have your phone in airplane mode and use WiFi only.

I forgot to mention above that we used the value internet plan.

  5. When I was diagnosed at age 11, my endocrine recommended The Calorie King Calorie, Fat, and Carbohydrate Counter book which has counts for about 200 restaurants (fast food and sit down) along with counts for individual items like potatoes, breads, fruits, etc. I believe there may even be an app now too. It was a big help in the first several months after being diagnosed.

  6. Thanks again for the info.......

We usually drive to Columbus and fly Southwest too due to the price difference and the availability of non-stop flights. We would have done similar for our flights this time if we would have realize that our return flight would get moved to such a late time returning to CRW. I wish we could have requested the day after off so flight times wouldn't be such an issue, but our employers weren't too happy that we were already taking 14 1/2 days off. lol

  7. Fly2Fun creates a reservation for you with the airline that you chose. That flight is not ticketed until 60 days before the cruise when your payment is received. Therefore, you are not able to pick your seats until that time. My one attempt, which I canceled after I found this all out, was not cheaper than the same flights if I had booked them myself. So, the ability to cancel it is the only plus that I saw. Went back to booking my own.

We were able to pick our seats the day we booked our flights and we booked in early January for late October flights/cruise.

  8. Be cautious with the no penalty statement regarding flight changes. There is no penalty to make changes, however, it is misleading. We used Fly2Fun for our flights for the Vista TA. We were very happy with the price of the flights and the times when we booked. A few months after booking our flights, our return flights were changed (by Delta) and it was moved to a much, much later time. I called Carnival to see about switching the return flight to an earlier time because we have to work the day after we return. Getting off of a plane at 11:30pm doesn't make for an ideal work day the following day when you have a long drive home.

The Carnival reps (I called 3 different times to see if I would get the same answer) told me that to change the flight times, they would have to cancel my entire booking and rebook it all again. They cancel the flights and the cruise then rebook both at the current rates. Since the rates had doubled for both the cruise and the flights, I told them that I didn't want to do it.

I wasn't aware that it was done this way because I read over the contract and info for Fly2Fun and didn't see it mentioned that changes would require cancelling both the flights and the cruise then rebooking both at the current rates. Maybe I was just unlucky on the day I called.

  9. II haven't chimed in because I figured someone would have posted pics and personal accounts by now, but I was on the ship and standing on our balcony when the Pride docked. We did go in at an angle which seemed strange, but it didn't seem like it was an extreme angle.

The direction that we went when leaving the port meant that we got to drive around and could see the bow of the ship as we were leaving and I got a picture of the only damage that could be seen in the bow area. It was a bent mooring platform. I'm going to try to attach it so let me know if you can't see it so I can try to repost from my computer instead of my phone.

  10. We just booked our flights with Carnival for the Vista TA. The cheapest multi-destination flights we could find out of our tiny home airport were $1500 per person. We called Carnival on Saturday to see what they had choice wise out of curiosity and they found flights for just over $500 per person. The flight times are great and we actually got two of the flights we were possibly going to book on our own anyway due to the flight times. We immediately booked through them and it was hastle free!

  11. You are entirely right. We went on NCL for the first time back in April. Most of the reviews following the cruise said it was their best one ever however we thought it was the worst we've ever had. I'm curious to know what types of cruises the others have done previously.

We aren't big drinkers, but we went on a 3 day so I didn't have high expectations, but there was vomit all over the outer decks every evening and we were surprised to find it still there the next day not to mention they never cleaned the outer decks anywhere else including the great outdoors which was covered in sticky stuff and ants. That is only one of many things we found that we didn't care for, but others who were on the cruise said they didn't experience any of the stuff that we did.

We still had fun despite the negatives because as you said, a cruise is what you make it! Go and enjoy yourself! 😀

  12. It's no different than going on land other than the price. I've gotten pedicures on two different ships because I have a hectic work life so I often don't have time to get a pedi before we leave. Price aside, it was nice to get a pedi while looking out at the sea going by. It was relaxing. 😀

  13. We took our son to the British Colonial Hilton when he was 14 months and again right after he turned 2. Its a quick walk from the docks and it's all inclusive. Google their day pass. It is $60 or $65 for adults and your daughter will be free. They give each adult a $40 food and drink credit so you guys will have $80 to spend on lunch and any drinks that you want.

Just a warning though. They only have orange juice, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice so if your daughter has to have juice, you will want to fill up a cup before you head over.

  14. Seriously?

You questioned the cabin steward? What did you say to her?

Or did you walk by whispering under your breath to each other about what a pilfering thief she was?

I wonder why you're so busy peeking into other staterooms, hmm? Maybe we should check your pockets...

Are you serious? The reason we noticed is because we would say hi to the other stewards helping her as we walked by and sometimes they would be standing outside an open door so it was hard not to notice. We don't go around looking into cabins with open doors which is what you are implying.

And who said we blamed her for anything? I never did. I said that we chuckled and joked because of all the bs we read on this very board blaming stewards for pilfering through cabins on a weekly basis. I just wanted the OP to know what we observed on a few occasions. Thank you for being so judgmental. Maybe you should check yourself before you reply to a harmless post in the future.

  15. I traveled with the Norwegian Sky between 4/24 - 4/27 with my sister and 2 other friends. My luggage was the very last to arrive (About 2 hours later). The was probably ripped off and was replaced with a lime colored sticker with my cabin number written on it.

On the Pool Deck they had just started serving burgers and so we all went upstairs to eat. My sister and I came back to the room to get her wallet and we meet our stateroom attendant who seemed very nice. She was in the middle of cleaning and mentioned she had found a Micheal Kors watch.. which belonged to my friend, so she handed to watch to me.. and we grabbed what we needed and left.

The next day I noticed I was missing a pair of shoe while I was unpacking. I thought maybe I left it at the hotel we had stayed at and didn't think anything of it.

Fast forward to today 4/29. I checked my bank account and there were charges on my debit card from Hotwire around $190 and one from Fandago for about $60 on 4/27 & 4/28. I immediately contacted my girlfriends and they all checked their accounts.. seems like I am the only one that had these kind of charges.

I did leave my debit cards and master card in our cabin when we got off in the Bahamas.

I called the hotel the day we got off the Norwegian Sky and they did not find any shoes in the room we stayed in.

I am almost sure our Stateroom Attendant took it.. but she was so nice to us.

I called my bank and they frooze all my accounts until the charges clear. In the mean time... is there anything I can do? Like contact the cruise line?

I was on this sailing with you. We questioned our cabin steward many times for the fact that she spent hours longer than any other steward team cleaning the cabins both in the morning and at turn down. The questionable thing was that for some reason, she would spend long periods of time in different rooms and would have the closet door open blocking the view in from the hallway, but this wasn't done in every room and it was different rooms each service.

We joked that she must have been going through people's belongings to be spending that much time in the cabins and for opening the closet doors while she was there, but now you've got me questioning her actions a little more so. What cabin were you in? We were 9255. Did we have the same steward?

  16. Congratulations! I just called to upgrade our cabin on the Sky last night to a higher category that is now cheaper than the rate we booked and the rep acted like she was doing me a favor by not charging me an upgrade fee for a higher category cabin that is $100 less than my old lower category cabin. I was a little miffed, but this is our first time on NCL so I don't know the tricks or booking rate rules.

Congratulations again on your awesome score! I wish I had your luck!

  17. We cruised the Sunshine last May and every day was windy. That seems to be a Southern Caribbean thing, but it was never too bad. Aruba wasn't any more windy than the other islands we've been to so maybe we had an off day if everyone else says the wind is bad.

As for the Sunshine, we never felt like the ship was overcrowded. I keep reading those reviews about overcrowding and general dislike of the ship itself, but we found 99% of those reviews to be unfounded.

Our only issue while on the ship was with the family in the cabin next to ours. They were very loud, constantly slamming any door or drawer that could be forced closed. I don't think they ever slept. They also left trash and food everywhere. The kids would just drop their ice cream cones on the floor when they were done with them along with other things so the poor housekeeping staff were constantly shampooing the carpets. Other than some flagrantly rude passengers, our cruise was one of the best we've had to date.

  18. We were also in 9166 in May and absolutely loved it. We could be anywhere in just a matter of minutes. It was nice being able to grab a plate of food and have breakfast or lunch on the balcony without having to take the stairs or elevator when the Lido deck was busy and we wanted some quiet time. If we ever book on another ship that has Lido cabins, we would book one again in a heartbeat!

  19. I've submitted two forms over the last week and a half and both were approved within 30 min. You have to make sure that you are filling out every question and include a link to the fare viewer page in the section where it asks which website. If you check via a mock booking and include that link then it will most likely deny because the fare viewer page was specifically designed for the purpose of checking for and reporting price differences. The price protection form is approved or denied via a web application much like credit card applications are these days.

If you don't fill out the form completely then it is set to deny. Just make sure you are answering each question with clear, concise answers without over explaining because the program that does the decisions is designed to look at the form for certain keywords for each answer box. If you don't have the correct wording in there then it will deny you. For example, when you put in the name of the site where the lower price is listed, it's looking for keywords such as "Carnival Fare Viewer" as opposed to "mock booking," "Carnival," or just "online."

  20. We were in 8273 on the Pride and never had noise issues. There are only one or two clamshells above those cabins since they stick out a bit further than the deck space that has the clamshells and loungers. It was one of the most quiet cabins we've been in and we've been all over the ships on our previous cruises. You would be safe booking either cabin.
