Well for every scenario there is another scenario! Take my calculation for 2 Elite cruisers - not big drinkers, don’t like coffee.

24 pack of water delivered to room ordered prior to cruise. $7 (let’s just call it $1 day for 7 day cruise)

20 Diet Cokes to replace Elite mini bar - free

    1 device WiFi w/ Elite discount $12.50

Glass of wine with dinner - $11 (yes, I’m basic)

    Two cocktails at Elite lounge (2 x 😎 - $16

Couple of sodas or water in addition to what we already have - $6

    Gratuities for 2 - $32

Total actually spent for two - $78.50

Package price for two - $120

This would be a sea day. Likely less on a port day as we prefer to dine and drink in port to fully experience our time there.

But apparently I’m “dumb” and “cheap” and “tiresome” for pointing out that the magical Princess packages don’t add up for everyone. Silly me. I can’t believe I’m so ridiculous as to not want to hand Princess an extra $300 per week of our cruise for all the fabulous benefits I’m not using. Really, I need my head examined!

All of this plus throw in Shareholders and OBC from a FCD and it’s even less likely a pkg is needed.

Hi everyone! Have a family cruise on the Majestic princess coming up the end of June to Alaska and while I know that there is tons to do, tons to see, and a kids club... There will still be times when all the child (10) wants to do is chill and play Minecraft or something 🤣 my question is do the TV's have HDMI inputs that devices can be hooked up to to view on the big screen? My son has a switch he will be bringing and the big screen means he could play there more and we can join in more easily for a little family Mario kart if the mood strikes.

Yes. Some are just more difficult to reach than others.

Wondering if Princess offers hotel pick-ups in central London with transfer to Southampton cruise port.  We’re staying in London for 3 nights pre-cruise.  I called Princess to ask but had a long wait and a hang-up.

    Thank you!

    Marcia in CT

You can get a Princess Shuttle/Transfer from either Victoria Coach Station or the airport.
You can book it online under Flights or Travel.

True. But if I did that it would be empty long before I get to the dining room and for a top up I would have to return to my cabin. Not very convenient.

I don't bother with taking on any drink. I am on holiday... I don't want all that palaver. I pay holiday prices or I don't have it.

    Understood.

For me  I travel often and for longer periods so the packages are not cost effective.

Hi, I was wondering for a princess cruise do you have to use the princess gift cards on AARP or will the carnival work also?

Also can Use them to pay for the cruise itself? I have paid the deposit and was thinking of using the gift cards to pay the balance.

    Thanks

Carnival doesn’t work. You have to get Princess gift cards (It’s not a Carnival Corp gift card just Carnival ship)

Yes, you can apply them to your balance

Sharing as you may not be aware.

Princess allows you to bring one bottle of wine per person (21 and over) so that’s 2 for your team along with a 12 pack of soda or water per person ( I bring La Croix, because I’m basic 😃

There is a Walgreens/Publix close to the port if you are flying in.
That helps with spending for sure and for me that means no pxg is necessary.

Join your Roll Call on Cruise Critic often times people will be organizing excursions that are cheaper than the cruise line.

You never said you were leaving out of Port Everglades..most likely UK so ignore my references

I wonder if I can say it’s for my cruise companion  who’s arriving separately. I’m not trying to break the rules, but I AM paying double fare just for myself.

I carry my Moms in my bag and have never been questioned (2 bottles and 2 12 packs of sparkling water)

Hi, I see that the Crown Princess cruise I'm booked on in March doesn't seem to have 12-Step meetings on the calendar, according to some recent Patter/Event Listings newsletters I've seen of similar Crown cruises. So I was thinking of starting a meeting. Does anyone know how I'd go about doing that?

Double check with Princess because they have had meetings on every Princess cruise I have been on.

  10. This is a known issue even with the old App.

You can call Princess and have it sorted,

Mine will change to Elite while on board but as soon as I leave the ship it goes back to blue.

I have called twice and had it fixed but it always switches back to the incorrect level so not worth the hassle.

I booked a 10 day cruise for September 2024 a few days ago. Started trying yesterday to add wifi for myself, even before i had read this post   Site kept crashing telling me my session had expired.    I just called Customer Service and was quoted $337.40 Canadian $ for the 10 days and was told this is my Elite price

33.74 CDN is $25 USD.  For 1 person

The person verified that this is the correct Elite rate….

Considering my options now.  No airfare booked so easy to change

    $12.50 is the Plat/Elite discount

That cruise is dirt cheap for a 16 day.  Even if you purchase, you're still getting a bargain on the cruise.

Yes, but I’m flying from LHR to Rome after to get on the Sun for 19 days so It’s a balance.

    I’ll save $$$ every place I can.

I do have 2 booking numbers.  She did not understand what she was seeing on the screen.  I get the feeling that this is the first time that she has dealt with this.  I failed to ask her if it is a code or something written that states that I am not eligible.  I will ask tomorrow for clarification.

I sail on comps and solo at times and I’m Elite.
I would go to guest services if you don’t get the correct answers from the Captain Circle/whatever they merged with desk.

Problem is that people are SO ADDICTED to their Internet and Princess knows it full well, that no matter what the cost is there are people that will pay the ridiculous rates. Princess likes to make you think that they are giving you something with their packages.  I do not drink. I do not need to use internet and I pay my tips directly to the room steward.  I do not need any package.   Think back to a time without internet, what did we do then, well in those days, "we actually escaped completely" like the Princess slogan went.  We mailed postcards to reach out to our family, to say hello from afar and when we got home, we told them about all the wonderful places we saw and the great experiences we had.     Maybe if people cruise once per year, yes, perhaps one is willing to pay these ridiculous internet rates, but if you are like ourselves, where we take four to five cruises per year (with sailings of more than 14 days each), paying the crazy rates Princess is asking for internet is truly insane.

Since Covid being able to work remotely has increased, they know this too. I fall into that category,  still need to work since I travel throughout the year and work from each location.
