  1. We will be in Nassau in March this year and are wanting to do Blue Lagoon. We plan on taking the shore excursion to Blue Lagoon from our ship, but we are not able to book until we get on the ship so we can use our onboard credit. Therefore, I was wondering if in case we find that this shore excursion is all sold out, then how do we get to Blue Lagoon? Looking at all your posts it looks like you have to either book thru a cruise line or thru Blue Lagoon itself. Can you just go get a ferry from Paradise Island over to Blue Lagoon and do it independently without reserving? We are not really concerned about lunch since our ship doesn't get into port until 12pm and plan on just eating on the ship before getting off. We just want to see the beautiful water and beach.

    Thank you.

  2. This is correct. That's why it's important to use the terminology that NCL uses - there is a distinction between the DSC and tips/gratuities. All OBC can be used for gratuities, whether it's for additional tips for the steward or wait staff, tips for the concierge/butler, or the automatic tips on bar tabs. However, only refundable OBC can be used for the DSC. Non-refundable OBC cannot be used for the DSC.

Thank you for the information. I'm sorry, but what is DSC? Also, how do you know if the onboard credit is refundable or non-refundable?

  3. In the freestyle daily they write "After 11:00pm we recommend this venue for individuals 18 and over."

That does not sound like an enforced rule. Just watch some youtube videos to decide for example:

Does that mean that Howl At the Moon is a late night show or are there earlier shows?

  4. We will be sailing on our first cruise on NCL in March on the Getaway and we are going to receive some onboard credit. We got some credit from NCL which is already shown on the website. We are also receiving some onboard credit from Travelocity that is not shown yet. I read on an older post that we will receive an invoice in our cabin stating how much onboard credit we have. Is this still the case? What all is the onboard credit good on? We would like to maybe book a specialty restaurant and a shore excursion. Can we use the onboard credit to book these early online?

    Thank you in advance.

  5. Haven passengers do NOT have access, unless they pay like everyone else. Limited amount of passes available to Vibe, first come, first served. Haven passengers have the Haven and a private Haven sundeck.

So the VIBE is just a separate sundeck then? Do you know how much the Vibe is? Also, do you know if everyone in the cabin have to get it if one does?

  6. First time posting a question so apologies if I have put this in the wrong place :o

I am researching excursions for our family's first cruise in January...138 days, and, no, I'm not counting!! :D Anyway, doing a dolphin swim is one of the excursions we would like to do but I am confused on which facility is better and/or would offer a more enjoyable experience - Grand Cayman or Jamaica?? Stingrays in the Caymans is a definite for us, so I would be looking at combining that with the dolphins if that is what is recommended.

Even though as first time cruisers, we would be advised to stick with the cruise line's excursions, I am not afraid to venture out on my own with a reputable tour company.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! ;)

We did the stingrays and dolphin swim in Grand Cayman and loved it. Either way, I would do dolphins in Grand Cayman over Jamaica. I know Dolphin Discovery runs the dolphins in Cozumel and Grand Cayman, not sure of Jamaica. Have fun with whatever you do!!

  7. Hi all,

We will be taking a cruise in March and our flight does not leave for home until around 7:30pm so we were wondering what there is to do in Fort Lauderdale? We have never been there except to fly in and go to the cruise terminal. We are planning on taking are suitcases to the airport right after we get off the ship and storing them in the baggage storage area, then taking the Sun Trolley to downtown Fort Lauderdale. I have been looking at various beaches to visit. Does anyone know which one is close to where the Sun Trolley stops?

    Thank you in advance.

  8. We will be on the Norwegian Getaway in March that visits Nassau 12pm - 7pm and were thinking about doing the blue lagoon island beach break. Has anyone done this excursion? It says in the description we get a complimentary lunch, what does that consist of? Can we really watch the dolphins and sea lions without paying an extra fee at the dolphin encounter?

    Thank you.

  9. Hi all,

We will be in St. Martin from 8am - 6pm in March and we have decided that we want to do Maho beach in the morning to watch the planes. However, we have read many threads saying that the beach is small and the waves are strong. So we weren't really planning on swimming there. So we are looking for a beach that would be good for swimming and hopefully has some shade. Any suggestions??

    Thank you.

  10. We just got back from the Breeze on Dec 15. The trip to Sapphire was a highlight. We took our own gear but they have it at the beach to rent.

The coral is right at the beach. The only contention is that you must stay 8 feet to the outside edge of the entire reef. They contend that you cannot swim over the top of the coral but only on the outside. While there is still some action to see when viewing like this, it does in fact cause you to miss a ton of the action.

I am a scuba diver and mindful of protecting the coral. I did not know of the rule when I got there so I swam over the top where the depth allowed protection for the coral but the third time out a security guard showed up on the beach and started yelling violently at me to get off the coral. I responded that I was not anywhere near the touching the coral and he insisted he would throw me out if I did not move 8 feet away from the edge of the coral. I happily obliged, walked over and shook his hand and enjoyed the rest of the time at a distance from the coral as requested.

Still well worth the trip and the sea life was excellent. (I am from South Florida and am use to great fish life but this really was the best close beach snorkeling I have seen)

One final tip... We took the local bus for $2 each way instead of the $20 taxis from the pier. If you want to give it a shot, head left from the boats until you hit Wendy's Fast Food Restaurant. Cross the street towards the uphill climb and wait in front of the gas station facing the grocery store. Don't forget the cars are on the opposite side from the U.S. Just wave down the open air safari ride and confirm it is $2 to Sapphire. The ride is crazy but a lot of fun hanging with the locals. I did this with my wife, mother and my 4 boys (6yr to 15yrs.)

Oh ya, Also hit the food truck at the top of the hill that you walk from... Off the Grill I think is the name.

Enjoy your day at the beach!

Do you remember how long it took to get to Sapphire beach on the open air safari ride?

  11. They have removed the free movie channels from the TV's and now charge $10 per pay-per-view movie.

Ordering Pizza any time from room services is an extra $5.

Ordering any room service from Midnight to 5am is an extra $4.

All the gym work-out classes cost extra money.

Carlos Bakery, Specialty Coffees, and Gelato are all extra dollars.

I see that you wrote all the gym work-out classes cost money. I thought I read somewhere that they provide zumba classes for free. Is this not the case?

    Thank you.
