We are sailing on the Anthem on this cruise Feb 2019, and are in a Junior Suite, and were considering upgrading to a GS, but the cost is about $3500 more. Do you think it's worth it on the Anthem? That would bring the total up to about 9k for us for 12 nights, is that a good deal or?
Thanks...loving your detailed trip report!
9K is probably as good as it is going to get for a GS. By the time you add in gratuities and cruise insurance you are closer to 11K I think. Bigger stateroom, access to CK for breakfast lunch and dinner, suite lounge some other perks that I can't think of right now.

When I read the thread title, I thought that this discussion was going to be about learning how to book or cruise in a suite.
:D :D :D
Funny!

Where would they get it from? Not familiar with Anthem

From the bar in the WJ which is adjacent to CK.
-
The door is locked and only Suite and Pinnacle Sea pass cards will open the door or the Host in Coastal Kitchen.
Thanks for the information. We have only been to CK on Anthem. There is always someone at the door to meet and seat you after they check your reservation.

Just curious having never sailed a Quantum ship. Does CK have a secure door like we have on Oasis?

I know I sound dense for asking this but what is a "secure door"?

Is the restaurant opened?
Their FB web site says they are open.

One lingering concern about beaches - which can fairly quickly be furnished with chairs, umbrellas and beach bars - is the removal of debris from the sand and the water. There is likely to be a fair amount of splintered timbers, nails, broken glass, etc. needing to be removed before swimming, or even going without shoes, will be a great idea.
There are machines for that type of cleanup.
Or you could use a loader and a bunch of guys with rakes.
There is always a way.

Any word on how these guys are doing??

Apparently you can breath through nose or mouth, and no more jaw clamping on mouth piece.....plus greater viewing area. We just decided we are going that direction so will research those options and reviews.
If anyone has any feedback or suggestions please let us know!
I have an Octobermoon full face that works great. Lots to choose from on Amazon. Take a look in the scuba and snorkeling sub-forum for more information on the full face masks.

Thanks.
We cut way back on the flowers this year. Just a few to add some color to the yard.

Patti,am I reading this right. Both Solarium Bistro and CK are for suites?
I am so unhappy about them doing away with DD. We loved it on Quantum and was looking forward to it on Anthem. Very disappointed in Royals decision on this.
Plus there are 8 of us and we spent lots of time reserving our restaurants and times. Not happy at all.

If everyone who is unhappy about the latest revision to DD wrote or emailed RCCL they might rethink any changes.
It doesn't take any more time to compose an email then it does to post here and probably has a greater impact.
Just sayin

mbayley@rccl.com if you want to ask the boss what's really going on with DD.

If you like your Dynamic Dining and want to keep your DD you should start complaining LOUDLY or forever hold your piece.
Squeaky wheels and all that.
Very disappointing news.

It's amazing, all the different experiences people have had with dining on Quantum and Anthem. I guess I was extremely lucky, on 5 cruises, I never had a problem with reservations, food or waiting for dinner. There were some dishes I liked better than others, but that is my personal taste. I loved DD and hope it continues in some form.
We'll see if my luck hold out on number 6 in April.
On our two sailings on Quantum and our one sailing on Anthem we had no problems with DD. Not with making reservations online or changing reservations onboard. Looking forward to our next cruise on Anthem and hoping they keep DD.
Obviously this ship and this dining concept isn't for everyone.

I like DD and sorry to hear they are doing away with it. One of the things that put me off of cruising was having to be at such and such a place at such and such a time with who we say you be be there with. I don't mind the planning, kind of like it actually. But I'll wait to hear from RCCL since getting information here is like playing the telephone game.
With the Grand becoming a main dining room will they be bringing back formal nights?

Chrystelle?
That was the delayed January 26 cruise.
By the end of our cruise, they had only used two of the new ones, and had the menu for a third.
I did not hear how many there were ultimately going to be.
:)
Yes, Chrystelle from Mauritius. :p
The abbreviated Eastern/Western cruise.

Great picture! Terminal entrance is at the inside corner of "L" shaped terminal building.
Thanks! Feel free to repost. And thanks for all the information you share here.
-
Where did you hear "five"?
From our server, Kristal. I could be mistaken about the number though. She said they had just received approval from Miami. The change was implemented about midway through our cruise. I think we were on the same cruise as you.

Aerial view of terminal, parking garage and roadway into port. Parking garage is just above the terminal in this photo.

Nope. While reservations are suggested and a good idea, we swung by one night without them and they were able to accommodate us. (That was this fall on Anthem.)
Fabulous perk, by the way. CK on Anthem was terrific, both the food and the service.
We did the same. Stopped by and asked if they could accommodate us and we were seated right away. They also rotate through five (I think) different menus now.
Great perk for JS and above.

We were on the same excursion booked directly with Blue Water. Worst excursion we have ever been on.
