  1. And, with the non refundable deposit, you have 30 days after the cruise ends to move the cruise to a different sailing for with no penalty.  That is 30 days from the last day of the cruise not 30 days from the day you book it; if you book it the first day of the cruise.  You can change it as many times as you like within those 30 days.  I just took advantage of this perk in the past couple weeks.  The very last day I could change it is when the new transatlantic cruises were released.

  2. Hi,  Just an update.  We actually gave them a few weeks to figure out what happened to the other $100 OBC.  I called the travel agent tonight, and they were able to see previous notes.  The very helpful agent contacted Royal to see what had happened to the $100.  They said for some reason one of the codes dropped off.  They were going to add it back; so the full $300 OBC was there.  They said to give it 24 hours; but it should show back up.  The travel agent put some great notes in the reservation; so if for some reason it doesn't show up, everything was written.  He said all of their phone conversations are recorded too; so there should not be any issue.  I was pretty confident nothing had been done on our end that caused this, and Royal confirmed that it happened on their end.

I think the lesson here is that before taking a price drop confirm that no obc will be lost - because of course we all factor that in when considering taking the price drop. OP hope you get the situation resolved and don't forget to tell us why it was lost! Thanks!

You are correct.  We will give them a couple days to try to figure it out.    We did receive a new confirmation showing the price drop and the revised obc of $300, after they confirmed on the phone.  I will post back once we have an answer.

The early booking obc of $100 was stopped per 1 November.  (spun as 'feedback'indicated did not influence booking, for your greater certainty .....)

If any of those changes occurred on November 1 or after they would lose the $100 for booking 6 months in advance as that perk ended and any changed made after that lose that OBC

Thanks guys.  The price drop happened October 11th; it definitely was not in November after the change; so I guess we will wait and see what they say.  I could see that something might have happened; if they had been repriced to the what the price was on Black Friday; but that did not happen; since the balance due now is exactly the same as it was prior to the price going down.  Also in that case, they would have lost an additional $!00, the $100 for the promotion that was going on at the time the original price drop took place.  I guess we will have to wait and see what they say.  They should certainly be able to tell them what the $200 they have is for; because each one should be coded.  That way, they can find out which of the $100 promotions disappeared.

  5. I understand that; but we have a confirmation from Royal that shows the OBC, and it was there for about 6 weeks before it disappeared; so I don't see how that would be that case.  This was not a going, going, gone sale; since the cruise is still 9 months away.  Also, I received a price reduction for my cabin with the balcony discount, just no OBC on the same date, and did not lose any OBC.

  6. Hi,  I booked a cabin for my cousin a cruise that departed Sept 22nd.  We kept the reservation with Royal.  It was booked as non refundable; so there was $100 OBC for booking on board.  There was also $100 OBC for booking it more than 6 months out; since the cruise is next August.  There was also a promotion of $125 OBC at that time.  Grand total of $325.  After returning home, Oct 11th there was a price drop.  The promotional OBC was now only $100; but a price drop of about $100.  A net savings of about $75 leaving them with $300 OBC.  We received a new invoice with the price drop and the new OBC of $300.  I did look online to verify that the $300 OBC was there and available to spend.  About a week later the reservation was transferred to a travel agent.  We received their invoice that showed the same balance due for the cruise; but their invoice never shows the OBC from Royal.  Sometime after the reservation had been transferred to the travel agent, I was still able to see the $300 OBC available to spend.  Fast forward to yesterday.  My cousin went to book drink package during the current sale, and there was only $200 OBC.  Their current balance due on the cruise is exactly the same as it was when they originally had the $300 OBC.

Am I correct that the $100 OBC for booking on board should never disappear, and also the $100 for booking 6 months before cruise should not disappear, even though that 2nd credit is not something that is offered any longer.  We booked a cabin for ourselves with the C & A balcony discount, and received just these 2 $!00 credit for a total of $200 OBC.  We still have that $200; so my thought is it has to be that 3rd $100 for the promotion that disappeared; but why; since the cruise did not get repriced?

I am sure I've seen things like this on here before; but was not able to locate the thread.  The travel agent has contacted Royal and they have notes on the reservation, to see what happened.  Does anybody have any idea which of the $100 OBC would have disappeared and why?   Has anybody had this happen, and how long did it take to resolve.   We could have repriced the fare; since it was actually $103 less; but the concern was that they would somehow take another $100 OBC.  Does anybody have any suggestions, other than be patient.  Patience is not one of my virtues.  Thanks.

  7. Not sure of prices; but I can help answer your question about the onboard credit from your travel agent.  You can use this credit toward gratuities, and any unused onboard credit from a travel agent can be refunded to you in cash at the end of the cruise.  Just visit guest services.  Your statement would show it as refundable.  It is just onboard credit from Royal that is non refundable.  So; if you think you might drink enough to get the package, I would purchase it at the discounted price.  I hope this helps.

  8. Anybody booked on a 3 day cruise may want to look at the Ultimate Dining Package.  I was able to get it for my daughter and her husband for $65 pp.  They originally had the BOGO for $40; so only $25 more and they get 2 lunch, and 1 extra dinner.  Great deal for them.  Of course they are in a Boardwalk Balcony; so they already were going to get Johnny Rockets; but I think getting Chops for lunch at basically no extra charge; is a much better deal.

  9. I sort of had the same experience a few months ago.  We were trying to add an extra cabin for my mom and move a 3rd passenger from one of the other cabins.  They wanted us to change to a cabin for 2, instead of 3, and the overall cost would have been more than booking my mom with a TBD 2nd passenger in her cabin.  Fast forward.  Now that Harmony 3 night sailing is basically sold out.  Just an hour ago, I was able to move that 3rd passenger to my mom's cabin.  The same 3 person cabin is now booked for 2 people, and the price of the cabin was decreased by the 3rd passenger fare.  The deposit that was paid originally just remained with the cabin.  This was almost a $300 savings,  So my advice would be to keep an eye out on how the cabins are selling, and hope that it may sell out early enough that the same thing might happen for you too.

  10. Sorry; if somebody else has posted this.   I have looked at my cruise planner for a future 9 night cruise.  There are 2 Ultimate Dining Packages showing.  Everything appears to be the same.  One is priced at $216, and the other is showing a price of $120.  We are traveling with others; so we will not be taking advantage of this deal.  I did try to do a mock booking, and it was going to let me book at the $120.  This is a great deal; for anybody wanting specialty dining.

  11. We were on the Harmony transatlanic, and have also sailed Allure and Oasis and loved the cruises.  I was nervous about sailing Anthem after reading reviews.  We went last Feb and liked it so much we are going on it in 2 weeks and have another one booked for next year.  We did not enjoy the main dining very much.  Slow service; but the Windjammer for dinner was fantastic.  With that said, it will be the Windjammer for us in 2 weeks.  My advice is go and decide for yourself.  The ship is beautiful.

  12. We'll let you know in about 50 days. DH and I are NCL Gold members trying our first RCI cruise November 10th.

I must admit I'm sad to see many saying the NCL food is superior, especially given the very high premiums RCI charges in their specialty restaurants. Because of the high premiums, DH and I might stick to the inclusive restaurants on our Anthem cruise. I would have liked to at least try Wonderland, but at $63CAD per person as a surcharge it's just not worth it. Highest NCL premium charges are only about $45CAD.

We will also be on this same cruise. We were on the ship in February with our 4 year old granddaughter; so we ate in the Windjammer 6 of the 8 nights. The selection of food in the Windjammer for dinner was great, and very good. Keep in mind, we have always eaten in the dining room for dinner, and only done specialty restaurants a couple times. Our plan is to do the Windjammer again on this cruise for dinner. If you do want to try Wonderland or any of the other specialty restaurants, please look at the BOGO specials. You can eat the first 2 nights for about the cost of 1 night. If you don't like the restaurant assigned to you the first night, you can have it changed. My daughter loved Wonderland on the Harmony, they did it both nights with that package. I hope this information will help.

  13. I just booked this cruise also. I've been wanting to go to Bermuda; but the prices were pretty high. I was pretty happy to see there were some good price drops. I booked a balcony gty; since the price was quite a bit less. I will be happy with whatever we get. We were on this ship in February with our 3 year old granddaughter. I am excited to be going on it again. That cruise was the first time ever that we ate in the Windjammer almost every night. It was excellent. I think we may do that again. The variety of food was excellent, and very good. The service in the main dining room seemed to be a little slower than the other cruises we have been on.

We do have 1 night of specialty dining from the travel agent; so we will see which are included. We enjoyed lunch at Chops the last time on the ship. Now to start researching what we will do when in port.

  14. I wasn’t able to find anything on their website related to age tiers for kids on excursions

I found this information, although it was not easy. Again, we did not get charged, and we did not get a ticket. I even inquired at the shore excursion area when they brought me our post cruise excursion tickets, and they said no need for a ticket. They have a list. I was basically told the same thing regarding the Atlantis Excursion.

Is there an Infant Price - Royal Caribbean International A: A Shore Excursions may reflect an infant at the price of zero. D epending on the specific excursion, infants within a range on/or about ages 0 to 3 years old (unless tour specifies differently) must sit on a parent's lap. 'Lap babies' (not occupying seat) are free on Shore Excursions. Excursion tickets will indicate no charge within the confirmation summary.

  15. All of RC's excursions seem to quote both an adult & child price. At what age do children have to pay? For example, the Kennedy Space Center shows a child price, but children under 3 are normally free on a walk up admission. Just wondering. Thanks.

Children 3 and under are no charge for excursions booked through Royal. We just took our granddaughter on a cruise in February. We did not have to pay for either the Atlantis excursion that was booked pre cruise, or the New York City tour with airport drop off that we booked on the Anthem. We did not receive a ticket for either of these excursions for her. The excursions showed on her itinerary; but no charge. I hope this helps.

  16. We visited Atlantis in February with our 3 year old granddaughter. We did the Explore Atlantis that gives a guided tour of the grounds and aquarium. Even after the tour, there is still time to explore some areas on your own. We thought it was worth the visit. With a young child, we did not want to spend all day there. Our granddaughter loved the aquarium. If you book through Royal; your 2 year old is free. I believe they would also be free if paid Atlantis directly. The main difference is transportation is included booking through the cruise line. When looking keep in mind, any excursions booked for your 2 year old are at no charge. Kids 3 and under to not pay anything for the excursions. Hopefully this info will help you plan.

  17. Was there last week. IIRC, stop at distillery was 15 minutes, I don’t drink and our 4 year old didn’t want to get off the bus. Mambo beach was fairly crowded. We could rent a lounge chair for $3. The lady who narrated our bus tour was entertaining; my wife liked her.

Those were the only 2 places I recall getting out. I don’t know about feasibility with a wheelchair.

    Richard.

I agree with Richard, The beach was fairly crowded. I did get in the water, and it was pretty nice. There are a few picnic tables; if you do not want to rent a chair. The tour wasn't bad; but I guess we would have preferred a little longer tour, and not as much beach time.

  18. Has anyone been on this exact excursion? We are trying to decide between this and another one. We will be cruising on March 16. My husband is recently suffering from ruptured discs and will be facing surgery in the near future.

But we are determined to still go on our cruise since his pain is somewhat controlled at this point. We will be bringing a travel wheelchair for him and looking at appropriate excursions. This particular tour says that the distillery & Mambo beach are both wheelchair accessible. I am wondering what other parts of the tour may not be accessible. Are there many stops of getting on and off the bus? Thanks!

I believe the distillery and beach were the only places we got off the bus. I forgot to add that to my last reply.

  19. Hi, We did the one that goes to Mambo Beach in December. It was ok; but it would not have been my choice. We cruised with friends, and one of them wanted to do that tour. I was trying to not be a control freak; so I went along. Even she said she was a disappointed after the tour. We are going back there in September, and I am just now trying to figure out what we will do. I'm not sure if this helps or not.

  20. We have not been on that ship; but I can tell you from our experience it can vary room to room on the same ship. We have been on the Adventure 3 times now; after previous cruises on other ships with Royal. We always slept great until we had the same experience you described. The first two times on Adventure the bed was like sleeping on concrete. I think the floor would have been more comfortable. After reading several reports about the mattresses we started taking our own foam topper. The stateroom attendants are more than happy to add it to the bed for you. I bought it at Kohls on a black Friday. We fly Southwest; so we have an extra suitcase that we transport it in, free of charge. The funny thing is we were on the Adventure again last month, and I don't think we would have needed it. We had it taken off before our last night; so we could put the suitcase in the hall. This mattress was not as bad as the previous times on this ship. It still felt better with the foam topper though; so we will continue to take it with us.

Our own experiences may explain why there are a wide variety of reports (complaints/non complaints) about the mattresses. I think it would be well worth the small expense to invest in a topper, and you can book whichever ship you choose.
