  1. I'm nominating myself for the "Most inane question of the forums for 2021."  For those that have cruised HAL recently, what kind of sweetener packets were available?
    Pink: Saccharin
    Blue: Aspartame
    Yellow: Sucralose
    Green: Stevia
    White:  Processed sugar
    Brown:  Raw cane sugar

Isn't it great that cruising is to a point that these kinds of questions are being asked again?  LOL

  2. I rented a walker for use on a previous cruise.  Due to how it folded, it was difficult to maneuver it through the door of my cabin.  I have since bought one since it cost as much as 2 rentals.  I certainly plan on using it for more than one cruise.  So, for me it was better to purchase.

I also use this type of doorstop because bending down can cause me pain.  This door stop can be used over the door hinge.

  3. I'm wanting to get some rum for by BIL for Xmas while on a cruise that has a stop in Puerto Rico.  Ordinarily, I would pack it in my checked luggage for the trip home.  However, I am using a luggage forwarding (i.e., shipping) service and they do not allow Alcohol to be shipped in your suitcase.

If I'm able to purchase it duty-free, then I can just carry it on the plane (per the TSA).  Is there a duty-free shop at the port?

Does any have any suggestions on how to get the rum home (within TSA rules and not going against the shipping companies rules, that is)?

  4. Has anyone used the service if they have a day in port book-ending the cruise (day before and after)?  I thought I read somewhere that it wasn't an issue when going to the port a day early, but haven't found anything in regards to flying home the day after a cruise.

I will be there next week and will do a full set of videos about wheelchair and the island.  I am also taking a Joy on the Beach wheelchair so it will be easy to travel on the sand.  If anyone has any special request for things to cover post it here.

Can you post a link to your video?  Thanks!

  6. Can someone who is currently on board confirm for me whether or not you can still order a 'Frosty Chocolate Mint Buzz' from the bar?  It's like a adult mint chocolate shake.

It's been several years since I was on a HAL cruise and this was my go-to drink.  To the point the waitress in the Theater would see me and ask if I would like "my drink".  I didn't see it listed in any of the current bar menus on the app.  I found this photo on the internet (dated 7 years ago).

  7. It's great to read trip reports from someone else that has mobility issues.  I actually purchased an upright walker on Amazon to use on my upcoming cruise.  It was cheaper than renting something twice.  Plus I like the way it folds up so it is easy to get through any narrow doors or spaces.  The one I rented for my last cruise was a nightmare to get in and out of my cabin.

  8. If you decide to book the Riverside, sign up for their deals.  It saved me $20 more than my AAA rate would have been.  I booked them for a before/after cruise night in December.  It'll be my first time there, but the price couldn't be beat for the location and all of the good reviews that I have seen here.

  9. I'm in the same situation.  I asked my TA to price out what it would be to add the "Have It All" to my current partially paid cruise (have until September).  They quoted me a $315 increase.  So I did a little math on this end and figured that chances were good that I would save a little money or at least break even.

I had already planned on at least one Dinner at Pinnacle @ $40, plus have an excursion that I was thinking of that would use nearly the full $100.  I wasn't planning on the internet package at all (unplugging is one of the reasons for cruising), so I'm not including that in my calculations.  If I subtract $140 from $315, that would leave me with $175 for the SBP.  $175 divided by 7 = $25/day for beverages.  2 adult beverages, a Coke, and a special coffee will be more than that per day.  So I'm thinking it'll save me some money.  I won't know for certain until after the cruise and I review the "paperwork", though.
