  1. So, to get back to the original question…sort of, lol, is there no canned pop to be found on board for those with the Plus? On vacation I do love to have a Coke at my bedside while I read before going to sleep. A freshly opened can is 100 times fizzier than the flat stuff you get from a fountain. But a six-pack (if that’s all they will allow on embarkation day) isn’t going to go very far on a 14-night cruise.
  2. Thanks for the tip, leck57. I hadn’t noticed the teeny tiny print on the web page re: using the web friendly version. I used that and my personal info is now saved. It even shows up on that rather annoying app, lol.
  3. Okay, stupid question, lol. How do you get to the bow? Is that area always open, or just on glacier days? I’ve watched some ship tours and none of them mentioned access to the bow. I would love to be able to listen to a naturalist!
  4. Princess newbie here. I was just looking at the Thermal Suite 7-Day Pass option. Just to be clear, is that $149 per day or $149 once for all 7 days? Also, is that unlimited access, as in I can go use it multiple times a day? Thanks.
  5. Same problem for me. I am not using a gmail account. I got immediate email confirmations for the excursions I booked in October but not for one I booked a few days ago. I also ordered medallion accessories a couple of days ago. The excursion was booked on the website, the medallion stuff through the medallion app. Furthermore, the charges have yet to go through on my credit card statement, and yet the itinerary on the website, does list the latest excursion as reserved. So I am concerned that my items have not truly been reserved/ordered.
  6. Hello, I am attempting to enter my personal information but once entered, the “save” button remains greyed out. I made sure sure my iPhone is running the latest update, thinking that might be the reason, then tried to enter info again, but still cannot save anything. I successfully saved my food allergy, and the part where you show you’ve read the contract thingie, and ordered Medallion accessories, but it refuses to save personal info. What am I doing wrong? Anyone else having this issue? Thanks
  7. Hello, Where would be the best part of the ship, on Royal Princess (June 1/24 cruise)for photography on the scenic cruise days when we’re in Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier? I’m looking for an area where I have open line of sight and am not trying to shoot photos and video through glass. Does one have to get to such a spot early, or do crowds of viewers come and go at the rails? I do have a balcony cabin but don’t want to limit my view and my photos to just that vantage point. I don’t think I’m quite clear on how long the ship is actually in Glacier Bay or at Hubbard Glacier, or if there is a specific time frame where I should be looking for a prime spot at the rail. It’s my first Alaskan cruise so my understanding of how the “scenic cruising” days pan out is a little vague and I’m not sure what to expect. Thanks!
  8. Hello, Does Princess allow one to bring their own, regular, indoor extension cord, for use with one’s cruise-friendly, non-surge protector power bar? Thanks.
  9. Thank you SO much for all the responses! All were greatly appreciated. When I first posted the question it was looking like September would be our only option. However, my amazing TA has since managed to secure us a balcony cabin on a June 1 Princess cruise, and I am super excited! I would have been excited with a Sept cruise too but June was my first choice, so it’s all good. 😀
  10. I don’t mean to hijack the post, but I have the exact same question. We were a last minute booking and got the last balcony with unobstructed view. I am also susceptible to motion sickness and am always a light sleeper. We have C-706, Caribe Deck 10, Royal Princess. By the way, eating a green apple when getting motion sick, especially paired with bland crackers, really does help.
  11. Does the medallion app function while your iPhone is on airplane mode? For us Canadians, use of smart phones outside of the country can be problematic, so keeping it on airplane mode should prevent me from coming home to a horrendous cellphone bill. But it’s a problem if the app then doesn’t work. If any fellow Canadians want to jump in with phone coverage tips for cruising, that would be great. We’re with Shaw, which is transitioning to Rogers.
  12. We’re booked with Princess for the 14-day cruise leaving on June 1/24. I see in our itinerary that on June 8 we are in Anchorage (Whittier) from 12:30 am until 8:30 pm, but the itinerary doesn’t have the View Excursions tab button. Why is that? Is there simply nothing to offer tourists there? Is it just a port to replenish fresh water/food/fuel for the ship?
  13. Hi there, I have just booked a cruise with Princess and it is my first time with this cruise line, so I’m sure to have a lot of questions over the next few months, lol! We have booked an Alaskan cruise for June 1/24. My first question is regarding pre-booking excursions. Do I have to book them using the Medallion app, or can it be done just from the main website? I have not downloaded the app yet but have been reading up on it here on Cruise Critic. I am hopelessly non tech-savvy and will admit the thought of getting it downloaded and figuring out how to use it has me a little nervous. Also, can the excursions be booked prior to full payment of the cruise? Second question: If my cabin mate (my sister) gets a beverage package, do I have to get the exact same one too, or can I choose a different package? I am not a big drinker, maybe one or two cocktails a day, and otherwise mainly just sodas, juice, milk, and an occasional cafe mocha. Thanks all!
  14. Hello everyone. I’m looking to hear from folks who have done an Alaskan cruise in September. Research has indicated Sept can often be VERY rainy with a greater chance of some excursions being cancelled due to rain. Also, wildlife sightings in general can be fewer, and bears may already be heading to hibernation sites. So, how did you find your Sept sailings? I am all about wildlife and being able to see the beautiful scenery on a clear day, not through a veil of rain. I am aware one can experience rainy days in any month - it’s Alaska, after all - but just need to know if Sept is taking too big of a chance with the weather gods. Thanks everyone!
