  1. Is there a way to find out what shows will be in the main theatre each night, and what time, before a cruise? Royal Princess, June 1/24 Alaska cruise. Thanks!
  2. I have tried both the app and the website for my upcoming June cruise, 48 days away. It will let me reserve a MDR for my cabin booking but will not allow me to add in my friend’s cabin booking. Pretty useless system if you can’t book for everyone in your party.
  3. Are the doors magnetic so you don’t need to use tape?
  4. Thanks for the great info everyone!
  5. Hello, I will be on the Voyage of the Glaciers 14-day cruise, on the Royal Princess, embarking June 1/24. It is my understanding that we will miss most of the Canadian leg of scenery as it will go by during the night. June 2 is a sea day. What area of the inside passage will we pass through during that day? This is our first Alaskan cruise and I’m just trying to work out, roughly, where we are on that sea day from sunrise to sunset on a map. Thanks!
  6. If one does board early, are the cabins available right away, or do I have to haul around my carry on until they announce rooms are ready? I seem to remember a cruise a number of years ago (RCCL) where that was the case and it was really awkward trying to relax with a nice lunch with everyone’s carry on cluttering up the area. Maybe that was a one-off occurrence?
  7. I’m 90 days out and paid in full. I wanted to book an early MDR time slot for the days I know that an early time will work. I want to book those specific dates as I know early dining is popular. I’ve been trying the web version but I cannot get it to add the third party traveling with us. I click on Add Guest and put in her booking number but it isn’t pulling her up. How am I supposed to book a time if I can’t show all of our party?
  8. Does the little fridge in the cabin come pre-stocked with anything? If so, is it an extra charge if you take anything, or is it included if you have the Plus package? If the fridge is pre-stocked but not included in Plus, can you ask your room steward to remove the pre stocked items? Thanks.
  9. Thank you, Skynight - that was a very comprehensive and well said explanation!
  10. I have not purchased a drink package yet, for my June 1/24 Alaska cruise on Royal Princess. I went onto Princess.com today and saw a tab saying bundles up to 65% off. When I clicked on it, it said overall savings of over 50% for the Plus. But it says it is based on a7-day cruise. My cruise is 14 days long. When I clicked on the Plus selection, it came up as a total of $2,268 Canadian for 2 guests. My question is, is that the price for my whole 14 day cruise? Surely I don’t have to pay a further $2,268 again, after 7 days? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’m finding some aspects of the drink package a little confusing. Also, there is no option for the cost to be split onto my card and my sister’s card and so I have to foot the whole bill up front? I am assuming this is due to it being a bundling sale? I also saw an option to buy 5 cans of coke for the price of 6, but I should be able to get cans of coke from any bar to stock my little in room fridge as an included perk of the Plus Package, correct? Thanks!
  11. Hello all, Sorry, got a few questions here (Royal Princess June 1/24): 1. Re hair blowers, is the dryer supplied by Princess adequate for someone with longer hair (a bit below shoulder length)? I don’t want to drag mine along but also don’t want to take an hour to dry my hair with something that barely blows a puff of air, lol. 2. With the medallion now used for everything, just wondering if they still provide a paper version of the daily ship activities? Is there a show every evening, including departure night? 3. Can someone please remind me how far ahead of sail date the luggage tags appear? 4. And lastly, where is the best place to grab a bite on embarkation day on Royal Princess after boarding? I think we depart Vancouver at 6:00 pm and so I expect we’ll have the munchies well before dinner. Thanks so much!
  12. Does the printed luggage tag need to be in color, or does black print only suffice?
  13. Hi folks, I posted this on the Alaska board and it was suggested I should maybe post it on the Princess board, so here you go….. While in Icy Strait Point we have booked (through Princess) an ATV Expedition from 10:30 to 1:00 and then the Remote Wildlife &Brown Bear Search from 2:00 to 4:30. When I booked them I didn’t notice that is only one hour between excursions. Do you think that could be a problem? Especially if the first one happens to return a bit late? Thanks.

  15. Do the main dining rooms ever have crab or lobster on the menu? Especially on Alaskan cruises? My two travel companions would love such a meal. Going to one of the specialty restaurants is, of course, an option. I, however, am allergic to fish/shellfish so was hoping the main dining room will have crab and lobster available for my companions, while I enjoy something else from the menu. I am assuming the specialty seafood restaurants would not have any non-seafood choices on their menus. Thanks.
  16. Hello, Do any of the ports have reputable antique stores? I am looking specifically for native culture antiques (ethically sourced), antique coins, or any other kind of antiques that are unique to Alaska. Our ports will be Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Whittier. Are the shopping areas (all shopping, not just antiques) easy to walk to from the docks? Any good suggestions for reputable diamond and gold nugget shopping with stores that have good pricing? Thanks
  17. So, to get back to the original question…sort of, lol, is there no canned pop to be found on board for those with the Plus? On vacation I do love to have a Coke at my bedside while I read before going to sleep. A freshly opened can is 100 times fizzier than the flat stuff you get from a fountain. But a six-pack (if that’s all they will allow on embarkation day) isn’t going to go very far on a 14-night cruise.
  18. Thanks for the tip, leck57. I hadn’t noticed the teeny tiny print on the web page re: using the web friendly version. I used that and my personal info is now saved. It even shows up on that rather annoying app, lol.
  19. Okay, stupid question, lol. How do you get to the bow? Is that area always open, or just on glacier days? I’ve watched some ship tours and none of them mentioned access to the bow. I would love to be able to listen to a naturalist!
  20. Princess newbie here. I was just looking at the Thermal Suite 7-Day Pass option. Just to be clear, is that $149 per day or $149 once for all 7 days? Also, is that unlimited access, as in I can go use it multiple times a day? Thanks.
  21. Same problem for me. I am not using a gmail account. I got immediate email confirmations for the excursions I booked in October but not for one I booked a few days ago. I also ordered medallion accessories a couple of days ago. The excursion was booked on the website, the medallion stuff through the medallion app. Furthermore, the charges have yet to go through on my credit card statement, and yet the itinerary on the website, does list the latest excursion as reserved. So I am concerned that my items have not truly been reserved/ordered.
  22. Hello, I am attempting to enter my personal information but once entered, the “save” button remains greyed out. I made sure sure my iPhone is running the latest update, thinking that might be the reason, then tried to enter info again, but still cannot save anything. I successfully saved my food allergy, and the part where you show you’ve read the contract thingie, and ordered Medallion accessories, but it refuses to save personal info. What am I doing wrong? Anyone else having this issue? Thanks
  23. Hello, Where would be the best part of the ship, on Royal Princess (June 1/24 cruise)for photography on the scenic cruise days when we’re in Glacier Bay and Hubbard Glacier? I’m looking for an area where I have open line of sight and am not trying to shoot photos and video through glass. Does one have to get to such a spot early, or do crowds of viewers come and go at the rails? I do have a balcony cabin but don’t want to limit my view and my photos to just that vantage point. I don’t think I’m quite clear on how long the ship is actually in Glacier Bay or at Hubbard Glacier, or if there is a specific time frame where I should be looking for a prime spot at the rail. It’s my first Alaskan cruise so my understanding of how the “scenic cruising” days pan out is a little vague and I’m not sure what to expect. Thanks!
