Same with us - leave tip on and tip extra to cabin steward, table waiters and wine waiter
In the scheme of things it is relatively little to us "affluent" Brits and means a lot to the recipients
-
The point I was making is that I am sure we can always ask for more veg and not make an international incident out of it
-
On my only celebrity cruise the maître d came to our table on the second night and asked if everything was ok with our food - I said I thought there wasn't enough veg and he arranged for two bowls of extra veg to be on our table every night after that
surely we can just do the same with P&O if portions become stingy ?

and taking their hip flasks filled with duty free into the bars :(
I've just got a good deal on a balcony on Oceana in December, but I would never dream of removing the tips (in fact I would always tip more) and I would never take a hip flask - in fact they will make quite a bit from me in bar bill, shopping and the couple of trips I have already booked
-
Mostly duty free. Have been to Gib before and been up the Rock so thought would stay at the shops pre-Christmas. Perhaps more than usual will be open as it is pre Christmas
Will not worry about it and if not much open will have a nice walk
-
Just booked a cheapie cruise for December (interestingly booked through agent as deal not available on P&O website) and we are in Gibraltar on a Sunday (15th December)
Does anyone know if the shops will be open as usual as I think our plan this time is just to make it a shopping day

To suggest that those who spend heavily on board tip the minimum seems absurd to me - in my experience it is quite the opposite

I haven't cruised with Cunard before - only with P&O and Celebrity, but was looking at a med cruise on QE.
However reading through this post I am bit put off - do passengers take dancing this seriously on Cunard? I am indifferent to dancing on a cruise and previous cruises have been fine but I wouldn't want to feel I was having to avoid certain areas because of "serious dancing" - to me it is just a bit of fun

Oh my goodness gadabout I was not referring to you personally I just felt IMO sorry for the elderly couple, everyone's experiences are relative to that particular person..
End of my discussion. really sorry I commented.
Sorry - I am over-reacting!

I am a new comer to P&O having sailed on mostly American lines and I have to say have been shocked by some of the abrupt and downright nasty replies and comments. One lady was downright insulted by certain replies because she dared to state how upset she was by the behaviour of some young people on her recent cruise, another by the treatment of her elderly in laws when they took ill and now the above.
We don't all know of the correct terms for parts of a ship but sure it's fun finding out and we are going on holiday not sitting exams. :D
Would not like to be sharing a table with certain people.
I think that is a bit unfair - I was one of the people who replied on the elderly in-laws forum - but the last thing I intended to be was rude - I felt that it was an warranted criticism so I commented. That is what a forum is for

Looking at cruise A322N - why would anyone pay more for a getaway than a vantage? Am confused

Just back from the July Baltic cruise on Adonia
The buffet is separate from Sorrento. Sorrento opened most but not all nights - it didn't open when there was a theme night in the buffet (Indian, Asian etc)
Ocean Grill open every night I think
Only food disappointment was on the overnight St Petersburg night - we came back to the ship at close to 11pm not having had a meal and went to the late evening buffet - it was full of stodgy pizza and salad with nothing special for those who had missed their meal. By that time room service was closed - probably the only night on a cruise I have gone to bed hungry!!
I loved this cruise though not a lot to do on sea days. Adonia is a lovely ship and as it is a bit smaller it had the added benefit of going very far up in the river in St Petersburg and going through the Kiel canal which was a lovely experience

Dai
Is it not right thought that you are getting a bigger discount to book B2B cruises?
Most of couldn't do that for various reasons - e.g. time, cost so its not really a fair comparison though obviously good for you

On google maps you can search on Langeliniekaj for pier 190 and Sundkaj for 245.
Thank you very much Danish Viking!

My cruise ship is berthing at c190. ids there a map where I can see exactly where that is ?
Also bizarrely I have a friend on another ship on the same day at berth C245 - - is it close by?

We have a day in Copenhagen in July and I was planning to use the hop on hop off bus to see the main sights centrally. However these seem to get bad reviews on trip advisor with passengers apparently being made to wait outside the bus for 30 minutes or more. Does anyone have any up to date experience ?
