  1. Boy, I've never heard so many complaints about this ship and itinerary.

This seems to be a bad match for you. We had a great Baltic cruise last year, and we love the ship. (In fact we're leaving in a month to sail the Regal again).

I'm not questioning your experience,  just saying I'm glad we did not have the same.

Went on our first Princess cruise in June. Was surprised to discover that the bottles were so small and that they would not be in the cabin on arrival. Every other line has a a full liter waiting in the cabin on arrival. I assume that Princess is counting on you running out quickly and then buying from the bars.

In my experience, the other cruise lines may give you a bottle twice as big, but they charge four times as much. Carnival and NCL, at least, charge you twice as much per ounce.

As for running out, you can pick up the phone and order reinforcements and have it in your cabin within 15-20 minutes. It's only on day 1 that room service is swamped and takes a while.

My husband also likes his gin and diet tonic and brings the diet tonic with him.  In the past we have pre-ordered bottles of liquor for our room.  Is it possible to order from room service once on board?  Our next cruise we have quite a bit of OBC that I would like to use.

Yes, you can order the gin through room service, and ask them to bring along some lime wedges with the order.

  4. I hope not to offend any previous poster, but ...

I would sure hate to try to please some of the cruisers whose expectations and standards are reflected on this thread.

BTW, we were on the Regal last August and extra dishes were offered in CC. So the Regal is not left out of the program all the time.

    You mean like this one:

Guess it is worth it for the ego massage when you tell the non-cruising folks back home "We sailed in Club Class!"

You won't have a problem being seated when you want.  We were able to move our "embarkation" dinner to another night without any hassle as well.

We have asked twice about changing to a different night and been told no both times.

So, while I don't question your experience, let's just say it seems to change ship to ship, cruise to cruise.

  8. Unless something has changed recently, the Crown has concentrate coffee for both the buffet and the MDR. There is a Coffee and Cones on the Lido deck, but my recollection is that they only serve espresso-based drinks.

So if I were going to the buffet and wanted non-syrup coffee, I'd just go to the Coffee and Cones and spend a "punch" on an Americano. Going to the MDR, I suppose going to the IC would be the easiest way to grab a quality coffee before breakfast.

    Good morning,

Have been searching the boards but can't seem to find a definitive answer.

This question only has to do with the availability of freshly brewed coffee, which I understand is unlimited with the package.

Can that coffee be obtained at the MDR and buffet if you have the package, or is it only available at the IC?

    Thank you.

    Andy

I think we need to know what ship you're on to give a good answer. On Royal class ships, all coffee is brewed and none is made from syrup.

On most of the Grand class and earlier ships, just about all coffee other than at the IC is made from concentrate. So the only fresh brewed coffee on those is at the IC.

  10. Since you are in a suite you can pretty much have your pick of times and restaurants. I suppose if you board late some times might be taken, but they'll cater to you because there aren't that many suites and you are their focus on embarkation day.

You may arrive in your cabin to find a phone message or card suggesting a reservation has already been made for you and you can call if you'd like something else.

  11. I see this thread has been moved from the Princess board to the Mexican Riviera ports board. That's unfortunate because my response is relevant to Princess.

We booked a whale watching cruise through Princess (2017?) and were not happy. We saw plenty of whales, and close. The problem was the boat captain and most others were chasing the whales in a way that would never be allowed in Hawaii or Alaska.

If I  wanted to do this again, I would choose a sailboat, which cannot aggressively pursue the whales. Just my opinion.

... And if very many are sending it in every day, that has to be a massive burden on the staff.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I  have to admit that daily laundry sounds like a stress on the system. We are elite and and have stayed in suites a few times, but always try to wait till there's 3 or 4 days' worth. Wouldn't people sending it out daily be an unnecessary strain?

Or should we don't worry, be happy, send laundry? (OK,  maybe I am picking a fight.)

But on the non-formal nights, basically every other night in the dining room, how casual can one get?  I'm not talking shorts and t-shirt casual, but jeans and button down shirt.

Jeans or Dockers will be fine, as long as they're not holey or frayed. I wear pants like these most of the time, and they are super comfortable, while looking a little nicer than jeans.

And a polo or button shirt will work fine. Actually, for breakfast or lunch in the MDR, there's no reason not to wear shorts. I think on non-formal nights, it'll be pretty much like Celebrity.
