  1. Anytime I could see the ocean I was fine but when I walked around the boardwalk it hit me big time! I am so thankful we switched from a boardwalk balcony to an ocean view last minute. I felt like at every turn there was a giant wall of glass looking down over a floor 17 stories below. It was nuts!

  2. I just got off a great 7 night cruise on Oasis of the Seas but I wanted to share with everyone something I did not expect.

Y’all that boat is big!! Bigger than I thought it was going to be.

I have a fear of heights, always have. I have been on several cruises and never once worried about the height. The oasis is a whole different animal! I was shocked how terrified I was. It was like walk-in around the edge of the Grand Canyon. Something about looking over the rail to see ground and not water threw me for a loop. I spent a lot of time on the cruise freaking out.

It was still a great time and I learned how to work around it by the end but I just wanted to share with my others that may have a fear of heights as well.

I’ll be sticking to smaller ships from here on out!!

  3. Suite guests dining

For breakfast you have use of Giovanni's, which is located on the 11th deck ( same as the WindJammer) starboard side.

It is a full service sit down breakfast with your own chef and a very nice menu with a small but very nice buffet that has upgraded pastries and such.

This breakfast is also open on the day you depart which is a MAJOR PERK while the bedlam occurs in the WJ.

Lunch is the same for everyone - port days the WJ.

Sea days a choice of the MDR for their delicious tutti salad for those who eat healthy and enjoy over 20 different ingredients for a personally made salad.

Dinner is MDR or a specialty restaurant with an upcharge.

I had no clue you could eat in Giovannis on the first day. Do you know the hours they are open?

  4. I'm sorry I misunderstood your joke. Yesterday was a crappy day so I apologize for my snippy response.

Totally understand what you mean about the questions going unanswered. I will be more specific next time.

I found a video of a similar room on the Allure. It looks like it is over the bed. Hoping that is not the case. Oh well at where ever it is it will still be much more space in a JS rather than the Balcony that we had originally booked.

It was said in fun. So many of the stateroom questions are asked with no specific questions - your original post included - that it is hard to know how to help with a response. And that is probably why so many of those questions (as was the case with this thread) go unanswered. Not knowing what you were concerned about, all I was trying to do was help with whatever information I could provide.

As to the Pullman location, I am not sure on that but hopefully someone else will know. I believe it is over the couch, but with a connecting stateroom that may not be the case.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  5. Yikes. Sorry for asking....Obviously I know tons of people have stayed in this room.

I was really just wondering about the Pullman. I haven’t found much info on where it is located. Not very many junior suites have a Pullman. This one does.

There is no info on where it is located on the website. I commented on this post so I didn’t start a new one asking about a room.

  6. We just got our room assignment for upcoming cruise. We were assigned room 6642 on Oasis of the Seas. The notation on the cabin is a diamond and says Stateroom with sofa bed and third Pullman bed available. Does anyone know how this is set up.

I did not know pullmans were available in junior suites. I am very excited because we have two little ones in our room and I know they are going to be thrilled to each have their own bed!

    Would LOVE to see pictures!

  7. That;s nice, you will be able to have dinner in Coastal Kitchen.

I am very excited about that! We are traveling with my parents who are booked in a Crown Loft suite. When I told my Mom that we upgraded rooms this afternoon the first thing she said was "YEA we will get to have dinner in the Costal Kitchen together!" Ha!

  8. My daughter (3) has CD and she did not got sick once while sailing on Adventure of the seas. We contacted the special needs dept before sailing, then on embarkation day went and talked to the maitre d and then on the first night talked the waiters. They made her safe food and she loved it. Expect the first night to have longer than normal dinner because they wont have anything ready. The second night you will have GF rolls waiting. You will also pre order your dinner the night before so you will not have to wait for them to prepare it during dinner. They cook it in and entirely different safe area for allergies. Everyone was very accommodating and knew exactly how to handle the food. In the windjammer you can ask a chef to prepare food for you and they will make you food in a safe space in kitchen. It takes time but they will do it with a smile! Be careful on the buffet (as I am sure you already know) because people will use non GF serving spoons on GF items. I watched a lady take tongs from one section of the buffet, walk them over the GF island get GF cookies with a nonGF tongs and then leave the tongs there. oops!

  9. Thank you ! I tried searching for prior threads on this topic but must have been using the wrong search terms.

When I was searching I came across several posts that talked about it being usual for more than 2 people on a W guarantee room. If they booked us for this they will not put us in a room without at least 4 sleeping spaces, either a pull out sofa or pullman correct?

Im not normally this nervous, but the wording got me all wigged out!

  10. We just switched out balcony room to a W Guarantee. I was super excited for more space for our family of 4. However when I went into my cruises on the Royal website the description says this

    "

    s.gif

    Stateroom images are representative only.

Bedroom area with two twin beds that convert to Royal King. Full bathroom with tub. Sitting area with sofa. Private balcony. Sleeps up to 4.

(287 sq. ft. Balcony 80 sq. ft.)

    Deluxe Stateroom Guarantee

With this selection, you are guaranteed to receive a superior ocean view stateroom. Room assignments may be determined at any time after your reservation has been completed and paid in full up to the day of sailing.

The paperwork they sent me says W-Gty. So I am assuming I am JS or higher but the wording on the description is making me think Ocean View. I would hate to have accidentally downgraded for more money!

Thanks for any insight you have!

  11. Hello,

My husband and I love to cruise and have been wanting to go on one, but we now have a new baby. She will be about 7 months old when we are thinking of going on a oasis class ship. Questions:

    1. Can cruising with an infant be fun?

    2. Did you feel confined with not enough space in cabin? ( she won’t be crawling yet but likes to stretch out , roll around some)

    3. Did you spend a lot of time napping in cabin or did your baby nap in the stroller while out doing activities ?

    4. Were you able to dine in the dining room? Did you sit with others or alone ?

    5. Does the cruise offer any baby type foods ( hey they should since they charge a full price fare!)

    6. As for the nursery, could you drop baby off for an hour here and there to do an adult activity ? Did you need advance reservation ? Did you feel the staff were good with babies ? Was the nursery crowded and did it feel clean ?

    7. Could you get a medical grade fridge \ freezer to keep breast milk frozen ?

    8. What types of things did your baby seem to enjoy on cruise ?

    9. Is there a cabin location / type that worked best with infant ? Can’t afford suite but want a balcony at the very least .

    10. Did you feel cruise accommodated your infant ?

    11. Did they need a passport?

    12. What types of things to do in ports ?

Any other tips will be appreciated !

I think the answers to most of your questions totally depend on you and your baby.

Is baby go with the flow? Adaptable? Do you go out and about a lot at home? If yes, y’all will have a great time!

I loved traveling with my kids at that age. They can’t move yet and everything made them excited! I don’t think you can go wrong taking baby on a cruise. It’s my favorite way to travel with kids.

The cabins provide plenty of space as long as you keep it organized and clean.

I hope you have a great time!!

  12. Thank you for your response. Bus routes are beyond confusing to me. Really any public transit for that matter. We have no system like this where I live. The only system we have is get in car, sit in traffic, fight for parking, arrive at destination. Ha! Thank you for your help!

You are right about the bus routes being loops but not all are 2 hour loops. Your example, Bubble Rock, is served by 2 routes, #4 & #5. Route #4 does a 1H + 12M loop while route #5 does a 1H + 50M loop.

To get back to the ship, you would have to catch a bus that is inbound, but there are 2 different inbound buses. Buses that are inbound to the Bar Harbor Village Green, and buses that are inbound to the Visitor Center.

If you take a #4 bus to the VC, you will have to board another bus to get you to the Bar Harbor Village Green. It is about a 10 minute ride VC to the BHVG.

Just remember as you are planing, the Park Loop (route #4) travels in a clockwise direction and the eastern portion of the loop is a one way road. Sand Breach, Thunder Hole and Otter Cliffs are all on the one way portion of the Park Loop Road. There is a trail that connects the 3.

  13. I tried searching for this answer but cannot find what I am looking for. We are planning on taking the Island Explorer into Acadia National park and stopping at a couple of stops. We have small kids that like to explore and hike. Once we are done at a location, just as an example bubble pond, how do we get back to the ship directly? From what I can tell the buses run in loops that look like about 2 hours from start to finish. Am I wrong? Sorry for the confusing question. I checked the Uber app and they don't appear to have cars available in Bar Harbor.
