  1. Thanks for your review!

We will have this same itinerary on the Horizon in December and with similar adult ages, carnival newbies, sister ships and a kid age in common, I took in every word of your review.

    A couple questions:

Did your DD try the kids club? If so, how did she like it?

You only ate in MDR a couple times, but reviewed 2 speciality restaurants. Did you try others? Or did you do quic dinners? What would you do different next time? (We have 2 reservations the steakhouse and Jiji, but I keep questioning Jiji and the menus people post look great!)

Did you do the elegant nights?

Do you feel you got a good value with the Cheers! package? Everytime I feel I have made a decision, something sways me back the other way...

    Thanks for sharing!

We enjoyed Jijis when we went on the Vista last year and my youngest was 7 and she was hard to pull out of the kids programs.

  2. Great review, you really made the most of everything and seemed to have a great time.

We love Carnival and my kids always pick Carnival to go on first. We have ventured out and tried NCL and RCCL but for fun they still pick CCL first. My mom and sister prefer the casinos on CCL too :)

You might like the Southern Route on the Breeze or Magic to try a different class or we have done the Conquest with HMC and that is a great shorter itinerary.

  3. Is that an extra charge? What are the target ages? I always loved a character breakfast at WDW, but at certain ages my kids were just "too cool."

It is an extra charge but I can’t remember the exact cost but it was worth it. Even my teen loves to go so I can’t really say there is a specific age group. I have seen little babies, toddlers, older kids, teens and then groups will no kids at the breakfast.

  4. What is the linen spray?

It was a spray you put on your sheets and pillows with lavender to help you relax and sleep. I was joking with my room attendant how I had to hide it from my sister in another cabin and he left me a little gift set for her.

I booked a spa suite for our next cruise on the Breeze. I truly enjoyed the room, of course having an amazing room steward helped too. :)

  5. Good day!

We are sailing to Paradise on Paradise in just 29 days! Because of my husband's position within his company, he must be reachable by email (yes, even in the middle of the ocean). Do you think the value package for internet will suffice for him (reading and replying to emails)? or should he get the premium package?

    Thank you!

I am in the same boat and have to be available in case something major comes up. I usually purchase just the value package so I can check emails and respond when needed. I have not tried to use VPN with that plan but would assume it would not work very well. But the value has worked for me in the past.

  6. We have done RCCL, NCL and CCL and the night owl parties on CCL are by far the best of the 3. The kids never want to leave either and love the parties and little goodie bags they receive. I remember when my oldest attended one that went to 2 or 3am and they brought them back to the cabin that night.

I think on a 7 night cruise there are 3 party nights and then the rest are more set to free play and once or twice I have gone to pick up after comedy show and she is watching a movie under a blanket.

  7. We have always used Special Needs at Sea and we just booked the Breeze for next March. I did email and was told that they no longer have a contract and I needed to contact the preferred company. My dad just purchased an electric chair so he might bring that next trip instead.

I cannot comment on the tenders because he has not gotten off at a tender port in the past. But at all the other ports he loves to get off and see what is near, if there is anything, and has not had any issues.

  8. Don’t know what ship but on the Dream and Vista class ships you also get access to the thermal area for the first and second passenger. That includes the thermal pool, heated loungers, etc.

On the Breeze the room is more green in color vs blue and you do get the different Elemis toiletries and I love the linen spray.

  9. Edit since If found this note...based on the Villa notes you will purchase the extra once onboard.

    NOTES

    • The base rate is applicable for up to 4 guests.
    • Only one guest needs to purchase the reservation for the 4 guests.
    • For groups with more than 4 guests, an 'extra person surcharge' for the Cabana rental must be purchased (a maximum of 6 guests per cabana).
    • Housekeeping will begin cleaning 1.5 hours before departure.
    • Cabana 1 is ADA wheelchair accessible.

For the refundable part, yes you can cancel prior to boarding the ship. There is also usually a wait list so you can always ask to cancel once onboard and they will usually grant it since others will gladly pick it up.

We have larger groups so for us it is either 2 cabanas/Villas or one day we will rent the really large one :) that you can put more people in. Have you looked to see if the Villa's are open? They have more space and you can fit 8 in those so you won't have to worry about the count.

  10. Going with BirdTravels drink price list

    Super Premium would be

    1.95+ 20% ( 39 cents)= $2.34 extra

    Chocolate Martini's were 17.95 in 2016

    2.95 + 20% (. 59 cents)= $ 3.54

For me I'm willing to spend another $25.00 for the week to have a chocolate Martini every night.

Great to have OBC just for that reason.

Ok, well I will admit I am an idiot :o I wanted to try one of the key lime pie martini's but they made it sound like it would be the full price so I declined and went with a different one instead. I will say the bartenders on the Pearl were excellent and I truly enjoyed that Martini bar.

  11. This system is similar to what NCL has been using, and it works very well. They use colors instead of numbers. Those with early flights and priority loyalty members can go to Guest Services to get the appropriate tag.

We sailed on them to Alaska a few weeks ago and I had to make sure my family knew of the different process because we were so used to Carnival sending us the tags. My parents were in the Haven Suite so they had theirs but my sister did get confused.

I thought it was great just because with 4 of us I tend to always have to request more tags and then wait in line, this way I can go down and get the number of tags I need ;) so much easier.

  12. In the MDR they can order off either menu but in the specialty restaurant to get the kids eat feee option they have to order off the kids menu. Also, I think you only get one kids free specialty restaurant on the family harbor room as well as one night owl too. But of course we went last year so things can change. [emoji4]

  13. We have used it for my oldest daughter since it was implemented and yes it can be hit or miss so the social media has been more reliable.

We always have rules in place such as decks she is allowed on, no going into or bringing someone else into cabins and then check in times for example. She is 16 now and has only once pushed the limit once and that caused a boring few cruise days for her.

  14. My kids love the Dream Class ships over the Vista, we will be going on the Breeze again next March for Spring Break and so far that one is our favorite. This next trip we will have several kids in our group with a 19, 16, 16, 9, 4 &4 going and for us we decided to get 2 connecting balcony rooms and in one we will have my brother, his wife and the twin 4 year olds and then in the connecting room (with door) we will have the teens.

Now I will admit even though I was not a huge fan of the Vista we had one of the Family Harbor Suites and it was amazing with the size of the room plus the access to the Family Lounge to be able to grab milk, snacks, coffee etc through the day/night. If you can snag 2 connecting rooms there in the family area with the cove balconies that might be ideal with the ages of the kids.

But with our kids they have always enjoyed the kids program on Carnival over RCCL and NCL. Make sure to book the Cat and Hat breakfast when you get on the ship, that is tons of fun but we missed it last trip because we didn't book it in time.

  15. On the Pearl, Decks 9 and 10, forward, have OS (Owner's Suites), but those are not "DOS" (Deluxe Owner's Suites).

They do have Haven access (a bit of a distance away), but only for those registered in that OS.

    RM

Yes your correct, I get all the cabin types confused normally. This is why I liked that it was on deck 9, we have 6 other cabins on 9 near theirs so we can still visit easily without having any issues of it being in an Haven area. My dad prefers to stay on the ship and relax so he will enjoy those amenities of the Haven.

  16. The OS are on 9 and 10 and the DOS are on 15. Having 18 people in an OS on Pearl would actually not be too much of a deal as it is a huge room with two balconies. Plus they get three bottles of booze so let the party begin.

Yes sorry my mom wanted the deluxe on 15 but my dad has mobility issues so the stairs were out. We even looked at the 3BR but it would be hard with such a large family group to only have a portion there.

That was what I thought on the size of the OS as well when looking at the pictures. It would be a good spot to gather in the early morning or before a meal. Plus my dad always buys a bottle to have in the room so having the 3 will be great for everyone too.

  17. i personally would not travel in a suite if i had friends or family on board that were not in a suite.

what happens is you either take full advantage of your suite perks that you paid for (and ditch your family/friends to do so) or you forego the suite perks you paid for to spend time with your family/friends out in the common areas. IMO, either is ideal.

My parents love having the larger room with the suite and the perks of boarding, etc :) This next cruise we will be on the NCL Pearl and we have 18 people going, what I did was book my parents the Deluxe Owner's Suite on Deck 9 and then we have an additional 6 cabins around that. For the Adult kids, grandkids we are just going to annoy my parent's by hanging in their room and since they are on 9 we don't have to worry about trying to get escorted around :)

For my dad's brother and sister in law I hope they would allow them to have dinner/breakfast with them in the Haven area without to much of a fuss. :halo:
