It's still in effect for you and will cover unlimited amounts of drinks up to a value of 15.00.  If you choose a drink that is say 19.95, you'll pay the 4.95 difference, plus another 1.00 for 20% gratuity.  This of course could all change over the next 9 months before your October cruise since NCL likes to shuffle the deck and change things up at times.

Thank you so much for your quick and nice response!!! This makes me a little more at ease. I was scared I'd be made to pay the uncharge to even get a drink. LOL!!!! Thanks again.

there are several on this thread-I did one from Breakaway in Baltics last July-link in my signature

there were several others who did reviews about same time

Thanks for your reply. I tried clicking on your Breakaway link but for some reason it's not pulling up for me. :(

  3. Hi ya'll!

I will be going on the Breakaway in October and I've been searching the forums and can't seem to find any good reviews/live forums.. (Detail, pictures, etc.) Are you familiar with any? If so please post the link to them below! I want to read them!

I've been on Getaway but would like to read about Breakaway. :)

    Thanks for your help! (Hopefully)

  4. I have heard that the baths are a must do while in Tortola. I'll be there in October for the very first time but not sure if I'll have enough time to visit. Our ship arrives in port at 7AM and leaves at 3PM..For those who have been here in the past, do you think this time frame is reasonable for a trip to the baths?  Thanks in advance for your reply.

  5. In addition to a thank you note? Anyone have ideas of Small everyday things that may be hard to come by on board that they might appreciate?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to show your appreciation. I organized a Meet & Greet last year and this was my "gift" to the officers who showed up. They loved them! Do whatever you want to do. Don't let anyone determine your decision. ;)

  6. I figured I'd chime in with everyone else..

Every cruise I've ever been on I've purchased OBC ahead of time. I sometimes board the ship with anywhere from $500-$700. I use it for whatever I want. I cancelled all of my credit cards so last year when I went to put my pre-paid card on file the lady advised me of the hold that would take place. I panicked because I did not have that amount of $ on it since I had so much OBC. I advised the lady of that amount and thankfully she let me walk on the ship without putting anything on my account. This is probably something they aren't suppose to do. IDK. But I've never had it done before. I was thankful for sure.

On the last night of the cruise when I went to close my account, I had around $300 left that I had not used. They sent a check in the mail but it took probably 6 weeks to receive. But, when I received it, it was nice to have that extra money. So that's why I don't mind putting the OBC on my account.

Now what works best for me, might not work for someone else. This is just my story and how I do it. I like knowing that I have money on my account when I board the ship and that I can purchase anything that I might want.

Also, another thing that we all run into is the fact that employees are not all on the same page. What an employee said/done for me might not be what someone else done for you. So we have to take that into consideration too.

  7. Hi. I am cruising to San Juan October 2019 and noticed that we are scheduled to arrive at 4PM and depart at 11:59PM. I've been to San Juan before but never this time frame.

Excursions aren't open for booking yet on MyNCL so I'm curious...Has anyone ever did this? What excursions are available to book in this time frame? It seems so odd. Lol.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cabin; We were in stateroom 12272 and it has the slanted balcony which expands it from a standard balcony cabin. I really enjoyed the mornings out on the balcony and just reading for a bit while my wife was getting ready. We had plenty of room for storage, but I did feel the size of the room was comparable to our Porthole view room on Carnival. Overall, the only issue I had in the room was the distance between the shower and sink area and the confined space between the bed and the closet area. Our steward Wynzel was fantastic throughout and was also very personable and friendly.

Sorry to bring back up an old post, but did you happen to snap a few pictures of your cabin? I'll be in this exact cabin next October.

    Happy you enjoyed your vacation.

    Thanks.

  9. Hi! I'm just coming back to give my experience with Tours Plaza! My group of 5 used them the week of October 14th. Our driver was Leo! He was by far the best ever! Super informative and nice. I encourage anyone who is having doubt about booking a tour for the day, to do it with Tours Plaza! You won't regret it! Thanks Leo for treating myself and the rest of my group like family!

  10. Hi! I will be doing a Tours Plaza tour and our driver is Leo. Has anyone ever had him before? I've heard nothing but great things about this company so I'm really looking forward to it. Just curious to hear some stories if there's any to tell about him. Lol.

    Thanks!

  11. We headed to the check-in table, and Host Michell (I’ll use their online names, though you could probably figure out her name) was there to greet us. We grabbed nametags and talked for a brief second with her before heading to a table near the window. Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the roll call had surged to well over 100 names, with many/most expressing interest in the Meet and Greet! Within a couple of minutes, people starting bringing sample flights of several beers on tap at the District. Immediately after the beer came, we were offered several hors d’oeuvres. We headed up to the bar to get the boys something to drink and then started meeting some of the other families at the meet-up. I recognized a few from the boards who had posted pictures, but, again, being a bit of a lurker on the boards, there were a lot of introductions and “getting-to-know-you” talk. Sheri usually prefers that I do more of the talking at events such as this, but she was getting into it a little bit, too, as we talked with the groups.

As he walked up, I asked him if there were 50 clones of him running around the ship because he was everywhere. He spent a good 4-5 minutes with us (he’s from Tennessee but went to school in Chicago). He mingled just a bit more and then took on an emcee role as he introduced many of the staff in attendance. After he was done, he turned the microphone over to Michell who introduced the Cruise Critic members in charge of the cabin crawl and gift exchange (kirkelyv) and the slot pull (Cyndi_at_home and Mike_at_sea). Eric won a CruiseCritic lanyard in a drawing, and he immediately swapped everything out of the lanyard he had to his new one. I think Aaron was just a bit envious LOL.

I walked up to introduce myself to Cyndi and Mike and got signed up for the slot pull. I also got to meet some of kirkleyv’s family, including danddgrandma, who, along with Michell, we ran into several more times during the cruise.

Just curious as to how Eric won something. What type of drawing or did you guys play a game? I am in charge of our meet and greet and I'm just trying to get some ideas as this will be my first time doing it. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated.

    I'm loving your review!

  12. Yes, I brought my own. I wanted to highlight a few people. Plus people got a kick out of the wristbands for the most active poster!

I am hosting the Meet & Greet for my cruise in October. What type of things did you want to highlight? The first poster? Who posted the most? etc? Just curious as I would like to do something like this as well. What kind of things did you put in your goody bags? Also, what all did you guys do? Did you just let people mingle after the officers said what they needed to say? I see you had a gift exchange. Most in my roll call would prefer not to do that and I would feel bad for leaving people out if they didn't bring a gift. Lol. I would just like to know what others do. This if my first time hosting a Meet & Greet but I've attended them before.

  13. Forget about internet. A crime to have such a wonderful ship and spend your time on Facebook etc. [emoji41]

Well, my hopes were to login to CC and do a somewhat "LIVE" review...But there's a possibility that will change somewhere between now and then. Lol

  14. Had an excellent time! We sailed Royal last 2 before NCL. And we are totally sold for NCL, we feel the service and the food is just a step above RCCL.

They do need to work on the internet though, i bought the premium package, and it was pretty slow, in any case that is not a deal breaker for me.

Those getting ready to sail on here, congrats you'll have a great time!

That's good to hear! I am probably going to get the lowest which allows me to post on Facebook or whatever it includes. Lol. I leave in 117 days but time is flying by!

I'm so happy you had a great time!
