  1. We have done Chef's Table twice on Oasis and thoroughly enjoyed both occasions. The first was a group of 14 - 16 people so lots of conversation and discussion at the table. That made for a very enjoyable evening. The second was attended by 7; 5 from a single group and us, so less interaction but still very enjoyable. The food was excellent and the wines were topshelf or close to it. I liked the interaction of the larger group.

Regarding wine pours, our experience was that if your glass is empty, it would get re-filled. There was no skimping on pours. Just the opposite. Food was also excellent, on par with any of the specialty restaurants but with courses that were not offered on the menus from any other restaurant on the ship, as far as I know.

As you probably know, each course and win, especially pairing is discussed by the Chef and Sommelier prior to serving. They will answer any question that you have; we've had some great discussions, especially if the group is food and wine saavy. Go for it and have fun.

I love it! THats how was with princess great food and wine pairing. Great with wine pours and refills as needed. That why we enjoyed into so much on princess. Wanted to see how good RCCL isn’t

  2. I had a nightmare experience. First of all the area for the Chefs table was in the fwd solarium cafe, the only thing separating you from folks eating in the café buffet was a curtain. But that was not the main issue, it turns out during the meal an attendee passenger felt another said a racial slur and suddenly it was on like donkey kong….horrible expensive experience. I could of ate in the buffet or dining room for no extra charge.

Because of the passenger? Not RCCL fault ?

When I did it with princes we were in the main dining room but sorta roped off. So that wouldn’t bother me

  3. Just one point away gaaaah!!!!

I know more or less the benifits in general but I am interested in finding out specifically for the oasis of the sea. I haven’t cruised RCCL for 12 years (done other cruises and lots of land vacations - just got back from spending a month in Italy).

I am excited to be back!!! RCCL was my first cruise and I always have a special place in my heart for this cruise line. Thanks everyone.

  4. If reservations are linked and set to MyTime then you should be able to add them to the dining party with the "add from another reservation" button. Once you do the first one the people will show up for the next one and you won't have to type in their reservation number again. And you will see the reservations for all people in the existing purchases link at the top of the page (although our link keeps vanishing and can only be clicked on from the shore excursion page).

That's what I thought. So I linked the others to mine on the RC site, but when I tried to book the dining and clicked "add from another reservation," it kept giving me some error like "unfortunately these reservations cannot be linked for dining." But it would let me click on each one individually and add a reservation for My Time Dining, so I know they are all MTD. I was wondering if they needed to link mine to theirs, too, in order for it to work. We all booked through different sites, so RC says they can't link us, the big box warehouse TA says she can't do it, and the independent TA says RC needs to do it. smh

So we all have the same times, but I was wishing we could have done them together so it would be a reservation for 9 instead of one for 4, one for 3, and one for 2. But like CB said, I'm hoping we'll be able to get a big table since all but one of our reservations are for 5:15 or 5:30. I just couldn't muster the strength to call my big warehouse TA and be on hold all day again to try to figure it out. I knew Cruise Critic experts would be able to steer me more accurately than anyone I would get on the phone, anyway!!

Do you guys know if Oasis has more than one or two big tables in MTD? Should I not worry about it since we'll usually be there by 5:15?

    Thanks so much!!

I M also curious to How this works

  5. Wine is all about how it taste to you. A cheap wine is just as good as a expensive wine. Most of us wouldn't know the difference if you lined up different glasses. Just my opinion since I have taken a few courses and seen how people who thought that they knew wines reacted after their tastings.

That's why I love my $7 to $15 Kirkland wine. Better then random $30 retail $50 on the ship.

The wine on the ship sucks a$$

  6. All the above reasons I didn't get the UBP. I brought my own wine and paid the corkage fee upfront. It was the wine I enjoyed (I don't care for the ones on board ). In fact I ended up not using one bottle of wine and was refunded the corkage fee.

What I paid for the wine at Costco + corkage fee by NCL was by FAR the best and logical and economical option for me !

  7. In January of this year they were still giving a shell lei greeting. To make certain, perhaps an email to them would be best.

We will be there in July

Was the lei provided as you entered? Or did u make it yourself?

  8. Well I just got back from Oahu. While I was there, I stayed at the Hale Koa hotel and went to their luau. When you go in, they give you a seashell lei and a free drink, either a mai tai or fruit punch with a maraschino cherry in it. Then they have activities around their lawn, such as temporary tattoo stamps, lei making, learn to play the ukelele, make a headband from leaves. They have a gazebo with musicians playing and the staff showing you how to wear hawaiian garments. Then the dinner begins. We sat at table 54, with another family in the covered roof part in the back. The appetizers included pineapple, pickled papaya and cucumbers, seaweed, and salsa. The entree indudes shredded pork, chicken, fish, rice, and a fried banana. The dessert includes coconut cake and haupia pudding. The show starts after dinner. The show shows traditional dances of each polynesian island. Sitting in the back, I couldn't see very well. The fire dancers were my favorite part.

I will be staying there as well. I read that there is a make your own lei? So you didn't get greeted with one?

And what time did the pre show activities start? Then when did the actual call to start the event start?

  9. We went to the Hale Koa two nights ago. We really enjoyed both the food and the show, as well as the chance to learn some crafts and history before the feast. Very reasonably priced, too.

I will be staying at the hale KOA and plan on doing the luau there in July. Quick question , did you get greeted with with a lei?

  10. The luau at the Hale Koa Hotel gets great reviews. Their website indicates that it is held on Mondays and Thursdays. It is on Waikiki Beach, very convenient to the cruise ship. If it was running late you can always grab a taxi back to the port. Cherie

Do you know if a lei is provided before the luau starts?

  11. We have gone to HK Luau three times over the 10 years we have been staying at the hotel. It is held in a beautiful "Luau Garden" Meal is served. Seats are reserved. One drink included' date=' and you can purchase additional drinks if you so desire. Entertainment is good--better in later years than the earlier one. Price is quite reasonable. Tickets are available to non-military if there is seating available. Held on Monday and Thursday nights. Well worth the cost, and certainly beats travel to other luaus!

    If you go--ENJOY![/quote']

    Is there a lei?

    Do we get a lei?

  12. Some nasty judgemental responses here telling people what their kids should or shouldn't be allowed drink.

On the other hand didn't think it was any secret that NCL was Pepsi not Coke.

People hide behind screen names and some tend to be very judgemental and nasty. I have been a victim of those people.

Anywho, it's clearly stated on their website what products they offer

Ps I didn't purchase a soda package for anyone in our group (including the kids). But I did buy them a glass of soda every time we disembarked (from NYC and then 4 islands). I bought an adult beverage and we all sat and watched the island we left get further and further away!

  13. Think about it. A dispute is a claim of a criminal act. Do you think that any reasonable credit card company, law enforcement (FBI) would consider "2 weeks is no longer a minor issue" a criminal act? Under the T&Cs of your credit card agreement, the company could send you a bill for the cost of their investigation of your frivolous claim and law enforcement could come after you for making a false criminal report (which is a criminal act). You got your money back, twice, since the cruise line processed your refund request. So, now who is committing fraud.

Wow the FBI??? you watch to much tv

So what just happened is that the cruise line wasn't even responding to American Express inquiry for a few weeks So amex refunded me based on NCL NOT RESPONDING TO THEM, Well several weeks after my adjusted refund, NCL FINALLY also refunded me THE ADJUSTED AMOUNT. 6 weeks AFTER the promised time.

At that time AMEX immediatly fixed the double adjusted refund amount.

  14. Just for clarity on this subject, my kids even made comment about the service of our dining staff (horrible) and a day after we returned we went out on a Groupons for dinner (I was still on ga action mode) to this average cute mom and pop place. AMAZING service and attention was great (and they were understaffed that day. My youngest son who is 10 said, wow this is what we missed out on the cruise.

Yes I did adjust my service charge on the ship because their service was lackluster and slow with lots of mistakes.

Yes I did my waitress 20% on what the meal should have cost (not the groupon rate

NCL service is lackluster and slow in some areas and average in some areas. I WILL CONTROL were and how much my service charge will be be.

  15. People should be very careful. Disputing a CC charge says that the seller committed a criminal act and fraudulently charges your card and that you are asking the CC company to engage law enforcement to do a criminal investigation. Not a slow refund of something you explicitly agreed to pay in your contract with the cruise line.

The email they sent me when I first imitated the adjustment said it would take 2 weeks. Once it went over two weeks, it was no longer a minor issue for me it was fraudulent. It is at my discretion to adjust it (as it is stated in my contract with NCL). Their slowness to act is not an excuse. And my CC comoany did bro contact law enforcement

  16. Firstly, I do not want to open a debate about whether Service Charges should be adjusted.

However, people should be aware that the Service Charge cannot be adjusted onboard the ship as was the case previously. A form from Guest Relations has to be completed and emailed to Miami on your return.

It has just taken 7 weeks for ours to be processed (not the 2 weeks stated on the form or email acknowledgement)

    :(

It took about that long as well (for me). But at about week 2.5 I disputed it with my CC. FOR 2 Weeks they tried reaching out to NCL, they didn't even respond to my CC. SO AMEX refunded the amount I specified. 3 weeks later NCL did the adjustment and notified AMEX (via my request I initially). So I had a double adjustment which was then hashed out again
