Here are some pictures I took last week from E735.  It's one of the deepest balconies we've ever had, and very protected.  There's a beam on the right side but it didn't impede our usage at all.  In fact on the last couple days we used it as a sort of sun block/shade area when the sun was directly facing our room.  We enjoyed the protected balcony area very much on scenic sailing days, such as Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay NP.  That's one of the reasons we specifically chose this room.  Also the quiet area was amazing.  We've had other aft cabins before, but this was our first time on the Sapphire.  On other ships we've sailed on, the hallway stretches across the back area and is used by all aft cabins.  On the Sapphire you have to access your room specifically on the port or starboard sides, as there is no hallway across the back area.  This means it is even more quiet as the only 2 cabins in the hallway are the suite and the balcony.  We wouldn't hesitate to book this location again.  Also we heard no noise at all from Club Fusion below.  

 

Edit to add I realized after posting my pictures they don't really illustrate how deep the balcony is.  You can find more pictures on Google by searching.  I have others but am hesitant to put our faces on CC 🙂

Has anyone traveled on the Sapphire Princess in E732 or E735 (or D740 / D741) recently? Several years ago I was considering booking one of these cabins but was put off by reviews that said there was a lot of bad vent smell on the balconies. Now, I’m looking at these cabins again and wondering if the balconies are indeed smelly or not.

We only heard one or two bangs from something falling (a table or a chair?) on the holywood floor, but other than that is was very peaceful, definitely recommend it.

I’m planning to book a cruise on the Majestic in 2024. I am planning to book a mini suite on the Lido deck under the Hollywood pool area. I’ve tried to research this location for opinions on whether this would have a lot of noise from above. Up until now I’ve mostly heard that these cabins are quiet and nothing much happens in the Hollywood pool area, especially at night. In this thread I read that they’re having loud (deafening) parties up there. I’m looking to confirm and get opinions about booking Lido deck cabins below the Hollywood pool. Does anyone have a Lido cabin? I appreciate your opinions. Thanks in advance. 

I’m readdressing my original question because I was just reading the Majestic live thread that’s currently circulating. In that thread it says they have a late night party in the Hollywood Pool area and the sound is deafening. Previously everything I read said that the Hollywood Pool area is pretty quiet at night. I’m looking for people who have been in a Lido mini recently. What was your experience with noise?

I agree with the comment about motion. In a balcony cabin at the very front, I actually got seasick on an Alaska cruise out of Seattle. The cruise before (this was a B2B) we were just a few cabins back on Lido and it made a huge difference. But we love that location, and, yes, the noodle bar might have a little something to do with it. 

I have had forward cabins before and my friend loves the location, so I think we’ll be okay. Mostly I was worried about noise, but everyone has made me feel better about that.

We had to move to a cabin on Deck 15 forward (REGAL) as our son was able to join us, and by then the availability was limited.  Some high winds on that cruise...  Deck 17 closed.. et.  Whoa!

Not the Majestic, but we had a balcony cabin on Enchanted that was 3 rooms down from the Trident Grill on Lido deck.  It was perfect.  Loved the easy access to everything.  When a deck party was ongoing, you could hear the singing from our balcony, but it was not overpowering and never an issue in our room.

I’m going to book a cruise on the Majestic Princess for next year. I usually book cabins midship to aft, but my friend really likes Lido deck forward cabins. I have some concern about noise from the Hollywood Conservatory above. We will be booking a mini suite on the side, not a forward cabin. Has anyone stayed in these cabins? Was it noisy from moving deck chairs, etc. ? Thanks in advance. 

Fortunately my TA advised me in advance that NCL charges a gratuity on the drink package. I decided to opt out of the drink package and purchase drinks separately. I’m not much of a drinker, though, so it worked for me.

There were olives on the plate if this was in the Crown Grill. Possibly an olive mixture as I’ve never seen individual olives on a plated meat, but who knows.

The OP is almost certainly referring to the Lobster Cake at the Crown Grill. Coincidentally we also ate there on the same sailing as the OP a few weeks ago, though came away with no dental trauma. FWIW the CG menu does say the dish contains olive, though IIRC from what we had, it's not SUPPOSED to be in the cake but in the surrounding accompaniment. I personally like the Lobster Cake and have it any time we eat in the CG

So, most likely, there were olives on the plate if this was in the Crown Grill? Just guessing, but they’ll say the pit wasn’t in the crab cake and was just served in the olive mixture served with it. They’ll claim anyone should be careful when eating olives similar to fish/bones or cherries/pits. Makes it more complicated. JMO.

May I clarify what you wrote here? By traditional dining, do you mean dining in the main dining room as opposed to the buffet? I was under the impression that Princess doesn’t offer traditional dining anymore.

I'm not sure when their last reduced deposit promotion was in the US. Lately their promotions seem to have mostly included extra OBC rather than a reduced deposit. About the best I can suggest is to keep checking new promotions as they are announced.

 

Do be sure to check the terms and conditions if you see a reduced deposit promotion. Sometimes those reduced deposits are non-refundable, especially for promotions offering a low fixed deposit amount.

The simple answer is that I think it was easier. I don’t mind the app or medallion, but I think it used to be easier.

I’ve cruised quite a bit, but I’ve never cruised on Cunard. I know that some of the other cruise lines under the same ownership umbrella offer occasional specials where you can book a cruise with a reduced deposit. Does Cunard do this? If so, when might I expect to see this? Thanks in advance.
